Great place to come for both adults and kids. Fantastic instructors and the Sensei is very good. Both jujitsu and karate are very easy to learn a pick up thanks to the instructors. Easy to understand progression as well as life applicable topics through discipline and focus. Been training here for almost 7 years now and both the kids and adult classes are unmatched in friends you can meet, fun you can have as well as actually learn how to protect yourself and not just karate.
Bushido martial arts is very family oriented. They care about your growth as a person and a martial artist! It’s like a second home to me and my 2 children who train! The longer you stay the more you feel like family!

Bushido is a great place to learn martial arts for adults, teens, and kids! I have been training here for a long time and I am glad I’m still here. The community is great and the instructors are awesome and always ready to help.
My daughter has been going here since March and she loves it! It’s a caring community/family and I’ve seen so much improvement and better coordination just in these few months. They accept you and help your child grow based on their needs and capabilities.

If you are looking to get your kiddos in martial arts this is the place. Took me a year to find a dojo/martial arts program I liked, my kids liked, that’s affordable, and was in safe/non bulling environment where they actually learn and work for their belts and I finally found that place here. Everyone my kids work with at the dojo are professional, informative, knowledgeable, and great with the kids, so much patience with little ones. Any issues or concerns are addressed immediately, they truly care about the students here. We have been here about 6 months and we do not plan to leave.
You won’t be disappointed at bushido. Sensei Josh and all the other instructors are awesome. We’ve enjoyed our time here, going on 2 years. My son is in their after school program which is awesome! Their summer program is great as well, they go on a lot of awesome field trips and keep the kids involved. We definitely recommend!

Wow. Parents, this place has changed our child for the good. Great workout and great people! I started going to the adult classes at Bushido in October and I love it! This has been the best workout I’ve gotten in a long time. The classes are so much fun and I am learning a lot about karate and kick boxing! Everyone has been very encouraging and willing to help me become better. They have created an amazing community that welcomes new students. I feel more confident after every class and I can’t wait to continue to improve!
It's a very professional place. Helps children a lot with self-confidence and discipline. I like that instructors treat the same (with respect and not softly) no matter gender or age in the sense that they can be ready to face the real world. Good place for you kiddo.
I have been coming to Bushido’s adult karate classes for almost a year and cannot describe how much this place means to me. I started because I was looking for a way to stay physically fit with arthritis. The classes are excellent for my arthritis, keeping my joints lubricated, while improving my strength and endurance. I feel challenged by the exercises but also supported if I need to make adjustments from time to time. I value the family like atmosphere as much as the physical benefits of coming to the dojo. Sensei Josh, Senpais Yvette, Davante, Megan and Dylan provide excellent training and encouragement. But they also challenge you to be better and go beyond your comfort zone. As a teacher, I appreciate Sensei Josh’s “pep talks” where he describes how the principles of martial arts can translate to and improve all aspects of your life. I feel more confident and in tune with my mind and body because of my practice at Bushido. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Bushido Martial Arts is a great dojo! My son joined 5 years ago, and I finally decided to start training almost a year ago. I was scared & unsure at first because I am not a spring chicken, BUT it has been such a great experience! Plus I get to train with my son! Everyone at the dojo is friendly, and they've honestly become a second family. Sensei & Senpai Yvette truly care for each & every student & their families. I highly recommend Bushido Martial Arts if you're looking for a dojo.
Sensei Josh is great with the students. The way he's grown Bushido from 5 to 150(he is able to maintain that number throuout the year)is truly impressive considering the short 8 or so years it took. I also appreciate his work ethic and what he requires in his students. Great leadership.
Update, here we are almost in 2023. A lot has changed over the past few years, fortunately Bushido is still amazing, we still love it! My son is now 10 and a brown belt with no plans on stopping. Other than driving me crazy I can't think of anything else son has enjoyed doing for this long consistently. We have been with the Bushido family for a couple of years now. Originally we signed our son up for this, because I am old and tired and needed another avenue for him to expend his massive amounts of energy. Also it was close to the house, having said that, we have loved the entire experience and even if they were to move location, we would follow. Whatever I originally expected, they surpassed. Within a couple of days of starting Sensei and the Senpais all knew my sons face and name out of the dozens of other kids in his class. Now add other classes on top of that and I am still impressed how quickly they learn the new students right off the bat. They do good with keeping us updated on our group app, as well as giving us an avenue to reach out and ask questions. I mentioned family when I first started this review, because that's really what it ended up being for us. They have personalized Christmas ornaments each student gets (this year was a gi top with the exact color belt the student is at plus their name), mothers and fathers day there is recognition, and for everyone's birthday they recognize them in the group chat. This dojo is a great balance of learning, fun, and development, but it also teaches accountability, you can't buy an advancement, you have to earn it. When my son actually gets his advancement he is proud of himself because he actually had to work for it. I've watched him go from white to green belt, and yes it took a few years, but he actually learned what was required and has saved all of them on his wall because each level has meant something to him. This year he went beyond regular lessons and tried out for and made the competition team. I got to watch my son grow as a person and gain confidence, I've watched him perform solo in front of hundreds of people, a skill that is going to be beyond useful as he goes through life as many of us let fear of public speaking hold us back. I could go on and on, but I'll wrap it up. I'll just say if you actually are looking for a challenge, but one where you will be supported this is it.
My son and sister have been enrolled since May 2021, and it's the best thing that has ever happen to us! I didn't think they would love it, but they do. We have seen them go, get out of their comfort zone, and push themselves to become better. Sensei and all the Senpais are great teachers. Very family oriented, and the kids enjoy being there.

Our son has been a part of the Bushido family since April of this year and he enjoys every second of it. He looks forward to every class and has learned so much in such a short period of time. My kids love it here. We are here every night of the week. It’s the best bang for your buck in SA. The instructors are passionate and effective. My kids have a healthy and safe place to hang out. This Dojo has been amazing with training all ages including adults. As a 22 year old, training was everything I was looking for. It’s a full body workout and offers a variety of traditional and new age techniques that capture the art of karate. All of the leaders here have been accepting and wonderful to be around. I look forward to class every day :)

This is a Great place to foster your child’s interest in martial arts. Our son has learned so much in 5 months of being there. And all the things he learns at Bushido like respect, discipline, focus, self-defense, etc, applies to real life. He feels more confident, and he loves going there to train. My husband and I have also started the adult martial arts class, and not only is it an excellent work-out, but it’s also never boring. The owners, Sensei Josh and Miss Yvette are very knowledgeable and welcoming. You will feel like family the moment you walk in!

The Bushido team takes the time to meet the individual needs of each student. The students learn martial arts, team work, respect and discipline, and most importantly have pride in their accomplishments. We've been coming to the dojo for almost a year now. Definitely an awesome program. I would recommend to anyone interested in martial arts.
I cannot express in words how much our family loves and supports this dojo! Our son has had trouble in school due to delayed social skills, and was feeling terribly about himself. We took him to Bushido Martial Arts a few months ago for the trial lesson, and he loved it! He is now enrolled as a regular student; not only has his self-confidence increased, but he is showing a passion and work ethic that we have never seen in him before. Sensei Josh is a talented and caring teacher, who has a gift for communicating with kids and instilling so much more in them than they are aware of. His wife Yvette is also a great assistant teacher (and fellow mom!), in addition to running the administrative tasks of the dojo. I absolutely recommend Bushido Martial Arts!
I can't recommend these classes enough. After trying gymnastics for a few months my 7 yo daughter lost all interest and would even cry to not go to gymnastics. She's been enrolled in Bushido Martial Arts 6 weeks and really loves it. She will cry if she misses a class now. Lol. She is a very shy and soft spoken girl and I have really seen a change in her confidence. The hardest part was to convince her to enroll because she was afraid of getting hit. Now she loves to kick and punch and enjoys sparring the most. Sensei Josh and all the members are great and make the classes a lot of fun while also keeping the kids in check. If you're thinking about it stop by and ask questions like I did. There's also adult classes and other programs.

The sensei is a really patient and caring person, he truly tries to help the kids out, especially my nephew until they understand everything that is being taught that class He also always ends on a really happy note with the kids so he can assure they had a great class. 10/10 would recommend to any parent trying to put their children into martial arts. He is a great source of knowledge. His wife and him are the best
My family and I are so happy we found an outlet where my nephew can feel free to express himself and something he actually looks forward to attending. In the past years we have tried soccer and different clubs, but my nephew always dreaded attending It is nice to see him excited to go to practice and to see him actually learn the moves sensei is teaching. Sensei makes it so easy to understand what needs to be completed. Sensei is patient and kind to the kids and that makes all the difference Thanks to sensei my nephew is learning discipline, trust, and martial arts For anyone who is debating signing their child, nephew, or even singing yourself up.... DO IT 10/10 recommend this place! You won’t regret it!

I can not say enough good things about Bushido Martial Arts! My son has been enrolled since August of 2017, and it's the best thing that has ever happen to him (and us!)! Sensei Cavazos is a wonderful person for my children to look up to. He instills discipline, courage, and encourages the students to be better people, not only on the mat, but in life. He expects them to work hard, but makes everything fun and makes sure they understand why and what they are working towards. His wife Yvette is amazing and is genuinely the sweetest person on the face of the planet. The entire staff and all the other parents are so welcoming and we are so proud to call them family. My daughter had been in cheer for three years before, but during the summer we took advantage of an excellent deal (that they run several times a year!) with the intention of her doing Karate only for the Summer, and returning to Cheer when school started again. She was reluctant, but when the Summer was over, she had fallen in love with it and ended up quitting Cheer to do Karate full time. I credit this to the program, the atmosphere, and most importantly, to Sensei Cavazos. We did a lot of research before choosing Bushido for our family, and it really paid off. We could not be happier with this investment in our children's futures.
Our family absolutely LOVES this dojo!! My daughter started Sept of 2018 and just fell in love with everything! We love the family like feel, the structure of the classes, discipline, and fun they have every day. I also joined the adult classes and get a great workout in up to 5 days a week! Don't pass up this dojo! The Sensei truly cares about each and every one of his students.
We signed our 6-year-old up for classes a few months ago, and it has been a fantastic experience. We have noticed growth in his self-confidence and self-discipline, and he LOVES the classes. Some of the things our son has learned in the Little Warriors class are kicks, punches, blocks, falls, and sparring techniques. He has already had the opportunity to participate in a tournament and is earning the opportunity to test for his yellow belt. Sensei Joshua balances discipline with positive feedback and gets great results. I really appreciate that the kids are expected to hold themselves to a high standard. Pricing is very reasonable, especially considering the level of learning that is occurring. This is a small business owned by friendly, real people who will know your name if you run into them at HEB. If you are looking for a martial arts program, I highly recommend joining the Bushido family!

Bushido Martial Arts has been a wonderful find for our family. We enrolled our son 3 years ago. Our youngest son has grown in so many great ways. He is gaining confidence and leadership skills, which is hard when you are the baby of the family. This is great exercise and activity for him. Sensei Cavazos is a great teacher and role model. Mrs Yvette is the best and keeps it all running smooth. We are very thankful that we found Bushido Martial Arts and our Bushido Family!

I started attending the adult class around eight months ago after I attended one of the dojo's free women's self defense classes. I would recommend if you or your kid are thinking about joining or looking for a new place that you come check it out. Sensei and Ms. Yvette have made an open and welcome place for anyone with any level of experience and genuinely want to see their students grow. In addition to getting a great workout, gaining experience in martial arts, and learning self defense you'll become part of an awesome dojo family!
I have been going to The Dojo Karate Academy Northeast for just under a month. I was a little intimidated to get started, but my fears were quickly put to rest. Sensai Joshua Cavazos is a great teacher and very welcoming to everyone. He will work with you to correct your form, but also challenge you to do your best. Each class starts with some HIT (jumping jacks, burpees, push ups, etc.) before moving on to karate. If you are not in shape or just out of practice you will know right away what you need to work on. You also get your karate gi when you join. You can buy your own sparring gear, but they do have limited gear you can use your first few weeks of training. The Dojo is a great environment - friendly and everyone encourages each other. Very glad I started going. I'm learning self-defense and getting in shape. Really looking forward to the next few months of training!
My 10 year old daughter has been training at the dojo since it opened right at a year ago. Sensei Joshua is simply incredible with the kids. It's not just the physical capabilities of balance, focus, coordination, and technique that he teaches. It's the work ethic, respect, engagement, and drive that he instills a little more everyday. Don't be fooled into thinking this is just for kids! My wife has been training at the dojo with the adult class for about 6 months and absolutely loves it. Sensei is exceptionally skilled, and a master at imparting that knowledge to his students.
The Dojo Family here is the best!!!!! Sensei Josh is the greatest!!! When I say family I mean it!!!!! Everyone from the adults to the children are very supportive. I attended a self defense class here and absolutely LOVED it!! The instructor was very experienced/knowledgable, and also a great teacher. I learned a lot and felt confident with the material by the end of the session. I would highly recommend training here to anyone. :)
