Amazing place! Everyone is so welcoming! Most knowledgable instructors, and IBJJF certified! That lets me know I’m getting the best from qualified professionals.

Best gym around hands down
Very laid back and welcoming here. The coaches here are great. You can tell they enjoy teaching others and want to see you progress. Very patient and helpful during the drills and training. This type of flow runs through the gym. Nate (The owner) allows you to take your kids with you which is very convenient for me as a parent. My daughter looks forward to going every week. He's always engaging and playful with the kids there. Just an over all great atmosphere.
I started my training journey in this gym, and I couldn't be happier. I walked in to learn some basic kick boxing for a trip I planned with a cousin. I was greeted by the head coach and owner, Nate Lamotte, who spoke to me about the programs available. Coach Nate is insanely knowledgeable and a highly professional instructor with many professional fights. He leads this VERY CLEAN and GREAT gym WITHOUT the cult like atmosphere you see in other gyms. This place makes you feel very comfortable and welcome for all skill levels. No egos from anyone here. It's also very obvious that he takes great pride in who he employs to represent him and his company. His team of assistant coaches are very knowledgeable and very patient, making sure that you understand what you're learning in a safe manner. I joined for Kickboxing, and now I train Jiu-jitsu, Grappling, and Muay Thai when I can. They even have me doing my first BJJ competition after only a few month. Before I forget, I have lost 15 lbs by simply showing up. You can't put a price on your health. This is easily the most effective way to get into shape, trim your waist, and increase your cardio. And I can't thank them enough. Do yourself a favor, walk in, and speak to any of the coaches, take the free trial. I promise you won't regret it. Don't get discouraged if it feels tough the first week. Keep coming, and the pieces all fall into place.
Great atmosphere, good people, better techniques
This is the best gym I've ever had the honor of training at. The instructors are laid back, very knowledgeable, hands-on, and push you far beyond your limits. I've been coming since October of '23, and I've taken their striking class and some grappling classes. My body is WAY more conditioned than before I came. My cardio, strength, balance and reaction-timing is so much better because of this gym.
If you want to be or train like a World Champion... this is where you should be!
Burgess Academy is an amazing martial arts gym. I always look forward to training here and have a blast each time. The instructors are exceptionally down to earth, knowledgeable, and capable martial artists. I hope I am able to train here forever.
If you want to start training jiu-jitsu, boxing, kickboxing, this is the place. Best team of coaches. Started over a year ago and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
Best Gym in New England. I’ve gotten to meet & train with a bunch of pro fighters and only been going here a year. 100% recommended if you want to train seriously or just for a workout.
The best gym in town. Home sweet dojo.
Great gym, great environment! Awesome people! Highly recommended!
Wouldn’t want to go anywhere else for my BJJ training. I’ve been a member off and on for 8 years. My whole family loves this place. You’re treated like family, you learn the ins and outs of the mma world. Every one, especially women should learn BJJ and more importantly they should learn from here!
Lovely people all around to help you grow and better yourself as a person all while learning to defend yourself and take home real fighting skill and knowledge.
Incredibly welcoming and training focused. I have been to schools where any new guy gets met with a bunch of ego and aggression and this place does not feel like that. Everyone is extremely nice and the amount of talent is incredible. Overall the best experience I've had at a martial arts school. Nate is a great dude with a great attitude, really feel like you are making the right decision walking through the door.
Great gym! Super clean. Awesome coaches and students.
I got to train with these guys for a few months while in town for work and had a great experience. The coaches are awesome and very experienced. The atmosphere is super welcoming, and you’ll get a great workout. I definitely learned a lot and will be back anytime I’m in town. I highly recommend this gym to anyone in the area.
Most challenging gym I’ve been too, I mean this in the best way. You will leave knowing you put in some real work. Everyone is welcoming and laid back.
No matter your age, size, or current skill level, the people here at Burgess will help you improve.
Burgess is awesome. Lots of space and everyone is friendly and helpful. Nate is super knowledgeable and will definitely help you improve your game.
Great people, great atmosphere. My husband and 7 yr old son went there and had a great experience. I wouldn't recommend any other place.
Best mma gym there is. Not only will you learn all the skills you need to rapidly improve but you'll also get in great shape. Nate is one of the most knowledge guys around and is high level in all aspects of mma. I wouldn't want to learn from anyone else. If you're in NH it would be a mistake to go to any other gym.
Burgess is an awesome place to train, going into my first class I felt welcomed and encouraged. This gym is very team oriented with fantastic coaches who are very knowledgeable. A great place for beginner or advanced training.
If you're looking to get in shape, want to learn to protect yourself or the ones around you, or even if your just looking for a group of individuals that genuinely care about your progression? This is the place to be.
A great gym with a great atmosphere and great coaches. It's the best gym I've ever trained at. They even have kids classes now too.
Great place to train. I do the morning BJJ classes because it works with my work schedule. People help each other succeed and it feels like a strong team. I have a lot of fun!

The saying “Iron sharpens iron” absolutely holds true at Burgess MMA! Burgess is an awesome place to train for all skill levels and ages, with a great atmosphere of people looking to get better.
If you’re looking for a gym to get the best training for both MMA and Gi BJJ, this is hands down the best gym in New Hampshire.
Super welcoming and awesome gym! They train all from beginners to high level fighters
Truly the best gym around if your looking to improve and get some rounds in, Nate and everyone else here are more than welcoming, the gym is full of animals and prospects of the game, everyone here is working hard to improve there game and they will do the same thing for you, there is no other gym around better than here if you are looking to get into it
Burgess is above and beyond everything you could want in a mma facility. The atmosphere is encouraging, upper belts show patience, and the team pushes you to achieve your greatest potential. There are classes for all skill level, so no matter what your goals are this is the place for you!
Great atmosphere and a great group of people. Burgess is a great place for students of all skill levels to train, learn, and get a great workout in. Nate and all instructors are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. 10/10 can’t say enough good things about this place
Amazing facility, supportive teammates, and awesome coaches!
Great atmosphere, room full of animals, top tier fighters representing New England. Nate is a great coach, super welcoming. If you want a space to put in some work on the mats Burgess is the only option for quality combat sports training.
Came to Manchester for the Thanksgiving holiday. Very nice and professional folks, who opened their doors to us and let us train. Cool facility with lots of space. Nice gym! Thanks guys.
My son has been training at Burgess Academy close to a year now. He has learned a lot of skills and is always excited to share with me the new skills he has learned. He has come a long way in a short amount of time, thanks to his supportive and highly skilled coaches and teammates. Definitely recommend this gym to those who are looking to train BJJ and MMA.
Couldn’t ask for a better experience. Everyone is very welcoming to all ages and abilities, feel comfortable as soon as you walk in. Absolutely look forward to coming back.
I've gone to any BJJ schools and have had a tough time finding a good one in NH, BUT the search is over with Burgess BJJ and MMA. Top of the food chain instructors and an incredibly friendly atmosphere. I love it here and you will as well.
Nate, the Team, and the whole school are great. They have a high level of expertise, are teachers at heart, and it is a great community. If you are not already training at Burgess, you should definitely check them out!
100% recommend for new and experienced alike. Day and night classes. Great coaches and training partners. Facility is legit. Look no further - go train at Burgess and your game will improve!!!
Fun and challenging environment and a privilege to train with some of the best coaches on the planet
Terrific instruction and great people. Family like atmosphere where you will feel welcomed from the first second you walk in. Anyone teaching techniques is happy to answer questions with advanced students being willing to help as well. Give this place a look.
There really isn't a word I feel comfortable using to describe Burgess MMA. Academy, Gym, Dojo, they dont really accurately describe what this place is and can be. It's a community and the destination for the absolute best martial arts training you will find in the Manchester Area and beyond . There is a martial art style trained here for every persons needs, Muay thai, boxing, kickboxing, BJJ both no gi and gi , karate, and of course wrestling. A den of wolves where all are welcomed.
Got new medals, lost old weight. Get here, get better get W’s. LETS GO!!!
Absolutely love this place, made me a happier and better version of myself and continue to do that every day.
Best place to be on a Tuesday night 🤙🏻🐺
Local family feeling. A lot of experienced instructors around so good for the one on one training. A real Fighters gym.
The best place in the area for learning martial arts. Supportive and friendly people who know what they're doing.
I showed up to Burgess MMA in 2016 after re-locating for a job in Manchester, NH and having trained with a great team in Fall River, MA who I had fought for and become very close with. I had a tall order and tried several gyms in the area after moving up to see if any were a good fit. From the first time on the mats at Burgess it was evident to me that this team was strong, dedicated and very skilled, much like the gym and team I had just left. Not only was everyone very welcoming, all training partners and gym members were extremely encouraging right off the bat as I hadn't done much training in a Gi before starting here and had to make some adjustments. Burgess is the premiere gym in the Manchester NH area, Nate Lamotte is a great detail oriented coach and it's a privilege to study with him. In many other gyms you'll find coaches with different expertise whether it be striking, Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, etc. - Nate is very well versed in all areas of MMA having been a long time competitor himself. The other major difference is after visiting many different gyms in New England (CT/MA/RI) many were advertised as an "MMA GYM" but did not offer a class on fighting under the unified rules - Burgess offers 2 MMA a week specifically working on MMA - so it won't be up to you to blend all your skills together without much practice. Bottom line is if you're living in Manchester or southern NH and thinking about trying MMA/Kickboxing/Jiu-Jitsu, look no further than Burgess.
The best place I’ve been so far! Awesome coaches, teammates, and family!
Amazing gym, wonderful people and the most knowledgeable and friendly coaches in the game.
Burgess has a great, friendly environment. Great coaches go help people of all ages and skill levels learn. Would highly recommend burgess mma if you are interested in marital arts.
I love this place it’s like a family I’ve trained at many other gyms But none like this everyone not just the instructors but everyone wants you to improve and succeed. This is the best gym in New Hampshire end of story If you are reading this I hope to see you at class
Great gym with even better coaches. I showed up without much experience. Everyone is very nice and patient. Very knowledgeable as well. Lots of mat space with different bags and weights/other workout equipment too. Even gloves and stuff to borrow.
Best place to train in Manchester.
Amazing atmosphere, everyone’s extremely helpful
I came into the gym after I tore my ACL, and after doctors told me I'd be battling pain from "jumpers knee," and the asthma that returned for the rest of my life. Training here not only cured my asthma, but I have been pain free on my left knee ever since. On top of making life long friendships with team mates and getting in the best shape of my life, I also gained confidence that resulted in a better job and better life.
This is a killer gym with great coaches. Everyone I've seen come to the gym, including myself, gets welcomed in with open arms. Your teammates become family in no time. Can't recommend this place enough.
Great Place to train and awesome environment! Professor Nate is the best in the area, awarded fighter and teacher. Best choice for martial arts in Manchester for sure!
Best MMA gym in the planet!!!!
Some of the best coaching you'll find in the northeast with a team that is like family. You won't find a better or more diverse place to train.
I lost weight and won medals at Burgess MMA. #ALot #StillWinning #YouTalkWeTrain #Stoptalking&ShowUp
This place changes lives and become family as soon as you step in the doors! Whether you want to compete or just get in shape and learn new cool things, this is the place to be!! Highly recommended to anyone looking for something different and exciting!
Something for every there. Great hands on and great instructed and coaches
I love this place. Very welcoming and a great place to get a sweat on. If you are looking to better yourself and your life, look no further! I recommend this to everyone! Women, children and men can all benefit from the programs this establishment offers.
Life changing experience for anyone that wants to get involved with Martial Arts. Great instructors that offer something for everyone.
It's fine. Probably the best place for this in the area since there aren't many of them. The pricing is really good and the amount of different types of martial arts classes is nice so you can focus on grappling or striking or whatever you want to focus on. The owner is actually an active instructor which is good and more I can say about some other schools nearby, and you can tell he and the other instructors do care about what they do which is very important. There is a very strong sense of camaraderie they try to cultivate after and between classes. None of the instructors here are anyone I'd rank in my best martial arts teacher list that ive had over the years except maybe the muay Thai guy on Saturday, he's pretty good. The owner is overly cautious in my opinion, you need to be here 6 months for MMA classes and wear all this protection to spar so that's not great for me. And like I said, neither he or the other instructors except the muay Thai guy are amazing teachers in my opinion, they're fine. And I don't enjoy all the kids running around the mat all the time. Overall, this place is okay. Probably best in the area. Edit: after I posted about the kids I don't recall seeing them again. So I did appreciate that.
The head coach Nate LaMotte is an unprofessional bully. He constantly shows up late to classes if he even shows up at all. I would leave zero stars if I could, and there are much better places in the area. And no, the criticism is not unfounded. I've personally witnessed it multiple times.
Posted 1 year agoThere services must be fantastic since the whole street is filled up multiple nights a week and people who live on this road can’t even park. Upgrade your space.
