Bruno, Sunny, Julien and all the team at Bruno Lima's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are passionate, knowledgeable, kind, and sincere. They are helping to instill positive qualities such as discipline, confidence, physical fitness, in my son, all while teaching him an amazingly effective martial art. Five stars!

I started doing bjj about a month ago, this gym has been remarkable, not only do they teach you the proper moves they also build you a base and help turn basic movements into muscle memory. The gym has been very progressive and patient to ensure you get the most out of your training.

Bruno is the man! Do not let his size fool you. I was in town for a work trip and decided to join a friend for the first time. Yes. First time doing any sort of Jiu Jitsu. I sat through the youth session and joined the adult session. Bruno took the time to share some warm ups and allowed me to join in with his team. One of his students, (Josh) was extremely helpful with working with this noob. Throughout the whole training session, Bruno keeps it straightforward no sugar coating. If he sees you're slacking off, he will call you out on it. If he can add value to your technique, he will add his input! At the end of the session, he was giving a motivational speech that felt personal for me. Accountability. Simple as that. You cannot get past beginner stage if you're not willing to sacrifice unhealthy food, alcohol and bad habits. Thank you again Bruno and team for the open and friendly environment.

As a parent of a child in Professor Bruno Lima's Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class, I'm highly impressed. Professor Bruno's lifelong dedication to the sport, which started at age 15 in 1998, is truly inspiring. His teaching commitment is remarkable. He began as an assistant and later taught underprivileged kids in Rio De Janeiro, showcasing not just expertise but a heart for the community. As a parent, it's reassuring to have such a caring instructor. Professor Bruno's competitive achievements, like being a Brazilian National Champion and Pan American Medalist, make him an inspiring figure for our kids. With dual master's degrees in Biomechanics and Physiology, his coaching blends technical expertise and scientific knowledge, enhancing our children's learning. At the Bruno Lima Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy in Chico, Professor Bruno provides an authentic experience while instilling discipline and respect in our kids. We're grateful for the opportunity for our child to learn and grow under his guidance.

Great BJJ academy. Bruno is a highly qualified instructor, and his higher belts that teach classes are all great. Highly recommend for anyone, complete beginner or advanced.

This is an absolutely amazing place to train. Starting out at over 40 y/o, I found the experienced students to be very friendly and supportive, great group of mellow and capable people. Professor Bruno was quick to reply to my questions about the enrollment process. If your interested in trying the place out, show up in gym clothes 10 minutes before a scheduled class and the experienced folks will show you what to do. My 7 y/o is in the kids class. It’s a good mix of girls and boys, and the instructors are great at teaching children.

I started BJJ at Bruno Lima's to improve my health, and the results have been better then I could have hoped for. Bruno is very good at pushing people to get better, without breaking them. I am a type 1, and I used to have trouble keeping on weight and sleeping. I have been training with Bruno for about two years and in that time I have gained 20lbs of muscle and rarely have trouble sleeping. I have also been able to get off medications that I used to take for nausea and my HBA1C has dropped by a full point. Bruno loves to see his students compete, but knows not everyone has that goal. I would highly recommend this gym for fitness, friendship, and personal betterment.

I was in town for a weekend and dropped in for a class. The instructor was a brown belt named Steve. Since the class had a large number of white belts in it Steve taught us a basic guard break and double under pass, and I was impressed with the attention to detail Steve used when teaching the techniques. The other students were friendly, welcoming and fun to roll with. I will definitely be back next time I am in Chico.

I've always wanted to learn bjj but never found a place in my town with the right vibe until I met Bruno, I've been training for a year and a half and can't get enough. My six year old son also trains and loves it. If your looking for a fun way to exercise and learn self defense this is for you. The best part of this gym is the family atmosphere. I have a real sense of team with my fellow gym members and I have become good friends with them. I'm proud to be part of Bruno's gym and even more proud to call him my friend.

From the time we found out we were having a boy, my husband always said that he wants his son to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from an actual native Brazilian black belt. We always figured that we were going to have to go to Sacramento, CA to achieve that goal. I remember I found out about a year and half ago that we actually had the exact gym that we were hoping for right in our hometown. I called my husband, and he went and checked it out, and our oldest son went that night to practice. We have been there pretty much every week since (and not because we are making our kids, they don't ever want to miss). I tell everyone I know that they need their kids to come and learn from Bruno. I love knowing that my child has learned how to defend himself if he is ever in a bad or bullying situation. It is a fun and safe environment that kids ages 3 and up will enjoy and benefit from. Whether you're looking for self-defense class or looking to get into competition...Bruno Lima BJJ has something for everyone in the family (kids, teens, mom, & dad).

If you're looking for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for yourself or your kids, Bruno Lima BJJ is the best place to learn. Bruno is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt from Rio de Janeiro, and has been teaching in Chico since 2010. He's great when it comes to teaching and explaining the techniques to the kids and adults. I highly recommend Bruno Lima BJJ for beginners and advanced students.

My 9yr old boys and I have been going to Brunos for 3 years now. He is extremely passionate about jui jitsu and it shows in how he teaches. He takes time, especially with the kids, to explain and show the proper techniques. The gym is spacious and inviting and would recommend it highly to newcomers or experts who love to train.

I was disrespected and what felt like targeted for already being a skilled martial artist. Once notifying Bruno I was mocked and then excluded from certain training sessions. I have been to multiple MMA gyms and have never entered a room filled with so much ego. If you are already a skilled fighter or jiu jitsu practitioner I’d recommend any other gym in the area.

Kids classes are taught by a purple belt. Bruno is never there. Supposedly every Holliday they take the week off. Never told this or told to sign up for texts. After I was told I tried with Bruno's help and still don't receive texts. Maybe just me but I never felt welcome here. The phone is answered with "hello?" Nothing about who's answering or the business name. The English is broken at best and no one knows anything about prices or student info except Bruno and his wife I was told. This might be acceptable if he was there all the time. Won't go back good luck to those who go.
