It was a great night and us here at the lodge look forward to future events with the great team at Azad's.

Master Azad and his team have done an annual demonstration for our Association of Realtors at our Safety Event. They are absolutely the best! Very clear and common-sense instruction and advice are the themes of the demonstration, which is lifesaving! In just one class we are given the tools and practices for personal safety, with the option of learning more techniques for expertise. We love these amazing people!

I retired in April and decided to join the Tai Chi class in May to improve my flexibility and balance. The experience has exceeded all my expectations. Grand Master Azad and Mr. Gantt have been incredibly supportive on this journey, and the encouragement from everyone in the class—regardless of their level—has been truly inspiring. In just a few short months, I’ve noticed significant improvements in my life thanks to this practice. I only wish I had discovered it years ago! Now, in December, I’ve expanded my journey by adding Jong Shindo, taking advantage of the ability to attend multiple classes for one price. Between these two arts, I’ve gained strength, balance, and quickness, all of which have profoundly improved my daily life. Once you join, you truly become part of a family, making incredible friends from all walks of life. Thank you to Grand Master Azad, Mr. Gantt, and all of my classmates for making this such an enjoyable and rewarding journey. It’s an experience I highly recommend to anyone looking to enhance their physical and mental well-being.

Our daughter started at Azad's when she was 3 years old. She is now 6 years old, has been attending consistently two days per week every week, and still looks forward to attending. The instructors are amazing! They make class fun and challenging all while being receptive to parent's concerns for their child's behavior at home and issues that arise at school. They will incorporate lessons into the classes to improve behavior and resolve the issues. There are also donation drives to help support the community, parent's night out, and holiday parties. My daughter continues to learn so many different life skills that impact her life in such a positive way. Her behavior continues to improve and she has been able to deal with bullying at school on her own. Joining the family at Azads Martial Arts was a wonderful decision for us. We highly recommend it!

Azad’s Martial Arts Center has provided excellent instruction in several martial arts for over three decades. The students learn self discipline, technique, respect and develop a sense of community. They are taught to take care of themselves and others in mind and body. These principles are also demonstrated in the variety of service projects Azad’s sponsors like the Thanksgiving Basket Brigade that provides dinners for over three hundred families. Chico is fortunate to have Azad’s as an example for its students and the community.

From the moment our daughter Avery stepped into Azad's Martial Arts at age four, it became an integral part of our lives. The passion, dedication, and expertise of the instructors are truly unparalleled, going above and beyond to ensure every student thrives. The facility's immaculate cleanliness, along with an impressive array of essential gear, creates a safe and productive environment for all participants. The well-structured and highly organized programs have been instrumental in Avery's development, instilling discipline, focus, and perseverance that transcend the dojang. In addition to top-notch martial arts training, Azad's also offers a variety of engaging extracurricular activities. These offerings contribute to an enriching experience that goes beyond physical education, fostering a sense of community among students and parents alike. But what truly sets Azad's apart is their firm commitment to social responsibility. Whether it's participating in community fundraisers or delivering meals during the holiday season, Azad’s continually inspires students to give back and become responsible citizens. In sum, Azad’s Martial Arts has not only been an outstanding martial arts school for Avery but has also been a transformative experience for our entire family. We unequivocally recommend Azad's to any family seeking a nurturing, educational, and community-oriented environment for their children's martial arts journey. Our heartfelt thanks to Azad’s for everything they do. They're more than just a martial arts school - they're family.

Everyone from Azads martial arts from the teachers to the students themselves are very respectful, kind, caring and grateful for the chance to be there. As well as having fun, breaking boards (which they love), along with compassion and courage. The instructors have been so flexible with my work schedule and made us feel welcome every time. Azad’s Martial Arts studio is not your typical run-of-the-mill martial arts school. The community within the dojo is inviting and welcoming and very nurturing. It is also very organized and well rounded. With all the various classes they provide from the youngest to the most senior citizen there is a place for you there. Mr. Azad’s himself along with all his train teachers created a warm atmosphere that welcomes you as soon as you enter onto the mat. The culture of the School is one that makes you feel you’re a part of it immediately. Many of the students and teachers have been with Mr. Azad’s for several years extending over 25 years for some. Also as a parent with other need for resources it is also a hub for meeting other parents and conversing to tap in to other community resources in addition to the one provided at the school. My child loves the energy, camaraderie and skills he is learning and is the first and only so far extra curricular activity that he’s shown an interest in and has been flourishing ever since he stepped foot. Mr. Azad’s himself is a very spiritual loving, caring and nurturing individual who invites and welcomes everyone into his dojo making it a very diverse community in which to flourish. Mr. Azad’s and his students and teachers are very well integrated into the community with their philanthropy and community services as well as presentation skills. If you haven’t thought to take a look at it I highly recommend that you do.

I’ll give 5 stars when they do away with their mask policy and temperature checking. The staff is wonderfully patient with my extremely spirited, passionately curious, high energy five year old. The help fill up his cup and get out some of that energy in a positive way while teaching him direction and how/when to use his body and when to show self control. Invaluable life skills they teach as well like honor, courage, and humility, among others. ***edited to change to 5 stars as they’ve lifted their mask mandate. Also, to say Ms Miranda is absolutely wonderful with the little ones. She’s a great teacher and inspiration for the kids intro into martial arts. Wish we could stay eagles longer but excited to be graduating tomorrow to the next class.

The multi-session self-defense training I received at Azad's Martial Arts Center was perhaps the most practical, diversified, and valuable instruction of its kind I've ever experienced. I found Grand Master Azad most highly accomplished in the broad field of martial arts, a dedicated instructor, and an excellent teacher both verbally and by demonstration, with a patient willingness to answer questions involving philosophy, strategy, and technique in wise dealing with physically aggressive persons in various situations. Grand Master Azad was ever congenial and generous with his time in helping students across a broad range of abilities and ages. I heartily recommend any of his training programs for the excellent opportunities they offer students to grow in self-confidence and wholesome discipline in all areas of personal life. B. F., Chico.

My son is an extremely sensitive individual. He always aims to please, and gets very sad when he does not meet the goals he has set for himself, or that others have set for him. I always say that he “wears his heart on his sleeve.” When he began at Azad’s, he had a lot of trouble focusing during class, and at school he would frequently be told to “reset.” Now, I rarely need to ask him to do something more than once, and he never argues, but always follows through with a sweet smile. Additionally, although my son has always been very smart, I have seen his work ethic improve recently and this has carried him through the rough times of COVID. When he worked from home, he was (almost) always focused on his tasks at hand, and was able to eliminate all distractions around him. In short, he has shown great progress in his self-motivation to complete his homework on time without any reminders from myself or his grandmother, and has received high marks and praise from his teacher. We are all very proud, and credit Azad's for helping him grow his confidence and become someone he is also very proud of!

We have had the absolute best experience at Azad’s. We started with Mr. Grant and then had Mrs. Miranda who are both such incredible instructors. Their enthusiasm and passion is so appreciated. I cannot thank them enough for all of the encouragement and support they have shown our family. It was hard to switch teachers but know moving up is part of the process. Mr. Reitz is his new instructor and he is also so amazing with the kids. Our kiddo was having some issues with his behavior and since being at Azad’s he has improved so much. Watching the kids learn respect and discipline while having fun is so incredible and we will definitely happy to be a part of this incredible martial arts studio. Hands down recommend anyone to bring their kiddos here!!

I took the women’s self-defense class at Azad’s and enjoyed it and hopefully I won’t have to use it but I do remember things that I’m sure would help me if I ever had to use them. The teachers were all very supportive and Grand Master was amazing. They obviously care very much about the people they teach. If I had more time available I would love to take regular classes there.

I can not say enough great things about Azad’s! They have been an absolute blessing for my sensitive child in helping build respect for himself, confidence, and focus in basic life skills. Children thrive here! Each instructor and staff member treats each child like family. I would highly recommend Azad’s! It takes a village to raise children and Azad’s is the best village!

My young boys love their time at Azad’s! Even before we enrolled, staff was attentive to why we were interested in martial arts and they continue to fine-tune to my sons’ varied challenges and needs. They’re kind, patient, and firm—expecting them to show up as their best! We’ve seen improvement at home in the areas of courtesy and self-control. We’re new to this area and Azad’s is one of the ways we’re feeling at HOME.

I've been attending Tai Chi classes at Azad's Martial Arts for awhile now, & I have to say, classes are absolutely the highlight of my week. After a long, stressful work day, it feels great to come to class, unwind, learn something new, & get in some great targeted exercise. Not to mention, the welcoming atmosphere & friendly staff & instructors just brightens my day. I highly recommend Azad's Martial Arts.

I'm a 20 year Martial Artist. I moved to Chico 5 years ago and looked for a Martial Arts studio to continue my training. I found Azad's Martial Arts and I couldn't be happier with the level of expertise and professionalism. Azad's Martial Arts applies the same level of dedication to their children's programs as they do to their adult classes. Grandmaster Azad is a community treasure and I feel very fortunate to be able to learn from him and his staff of instructors.

My teenage son loves taking classes at Azad's. The instructors are very helpful, encouraging and really go above and beyond to help students succeed. Since he started taking classes eight months ago my son is more respectful and helpful at home. He practices all the time because he wants to and he is becoming physically stronger and more confident. I have been impressed with the outdoor classes and appreciate how Azad's has adapted to safely continue instructing students during the Covid-19 pandemic. Grandmaster Azad is a good person and gives a lot back to our community.

They are so great with my son who is five. My son couldn't stay on his feet and would wiggle around so much, but just a few months later he can stand with feet together, paying attention and ready to learn on command!!

The team at Azad's creates a friendly, comfortable environment to learn. We were able to attend the no cost PDT training. I appreciated the focus on awareness, avoidance, and deescalation techniques. I highly recommend Azad's to anyone wanting to learn Personal Defense or any of the great classes they offer.

My 5 1/2 year old son Brady joined Azad’s earlier this year, 2021. Brady has had many challenges with his behavior, respect for others, socialization and much more. I have tried so many things!.I finally reached out to Azad’s in hopes the structure and physical activity could be good for Brady. I have known many families in the community that have had great successes with Azad’s and their struggling child(den). Brady started out strong with (2) one on one lessons and eventually joining a group of children in his age group. Brady unfortunately regressed and I felt as a mother he just wasn’t ready and had begun interrupting others during their lessons. But with the tremendous help and support of Ma’am Miranda and Mr. Reight; they encouraged us to continue. These two truly went above and beyond to accommodate my sons needs, be supportive and listened to me as a mother and my concerns. They truly went above and beyond, nearly spending anywhere from 5-15 min after a lesson to give additional support. They offered to structure lessons in a way that would work for Brady and truly deserve recognition for what they do everyday. Azad’s martial arts is truly a life’s passion of theirs and their drive to serve our community. They are truly amazing individuals and I will forever appreciate the care we received at Azad’s Martial Arts in Chico, CA. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. -Kelly Cagle
