Our son has been passionate about Jiu-Jitsu for nearly a decade, and for the past two years, Americana Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has been a significant part of that journey. We really appreciate the strong sense of camaraderie and family atmosphere that the team at Americana fosters—it’s clear that creating a welcoming culture is a priority here. With the guidance of skilled coaches and attentive staff, our son has grown in both his abilities and confidence. The way they monitor progress at a comfortable, supportive pace is something we truly value. The kids' classes strike a perfect balance of fun and learning, and the adult classes are equally encouraging for participants at all belt levels. Americana has been a fantastic fit for our family, and we’re grateful for the positive experience they consistently provide!
I think jiu jitsu is the best thing I’ve done in my adult life. It teaches discipline that Ive carried into my regular daily life, along with a really important skill set. Americana has an amazing community that makes it easy for first timers. All of the members are really nice and the coaches are super personable and knowledgeable.
This place is amazing, my favorite thing about this gym is the fact that everyone helps you improve no matter what belt they are. Every roll they take the time to teach you,, I have asked a thousand questions and they are all very eager to help and teach you to improve your game. The owner has been extremely helpful both on and off the mats, whether it’s nutrition questions or whatever he is always nice and helpful. This is great Jiu-Jitsu, gold medals coming out of this gym every year from the kids to the adults. I wouldn’t go to any other gym period.
Good people. Good jujitsu. Great addition to my life. I highly Recommend Americana to anyone that likes adding value to everything in they're life.
This place is great. All the coaches are super patient and understanding. It feels good to be part of a team like Americana BJJ
Where to start…my journey started nearly 7 years ago in Paradise. A kid who wanted to learn more about self defense, find an escape from life, and be around like minded people I joined the Americana BJJ family. Without diving too deep into the thick of the life story, Americana and the family we have built at our school has played a major role in overcoming personal adversity. There are not enough hours in the day to explain how much jiu jitsu and the Americana family have impacted my life, but I will say. If you’ve ever felt like less, if you’ve ever felt like you didn’t belong, if you’ve wanted to get active, if you’ve ever wanted to go to a SAFE place to learn how to defend yourself. Americana is the place. So thank you Americana and thank you to my friend Andrew Osterlund who has cultivated an amazing space to learn, play, and practice a beautiful sport and martial art. A decade strong and rolling on 🙏🏽 oss
Training at this gym has been a great experience. The positive culture here, centered on learning and self-development, is outstanding. The people are kind and supportive, and training not only pushes me physically but also teaches perseverance, resilience, and problem-solving. It’s a great mental and physical outlet that teaches us to grow as people.
I started at Americana not too long ago, and the day I walked into the school I was welcomed and felt at home. The instructors are fantastic and help facilitate the environment for learning. Everyone is treated with respect and from striped white belts to the black belts, everyone is heard and helps each other out if they have something to bring to the table. The Americana crew sets the standard.
Im new to area and an old wrestler who Got the chance to grapple and ralk with some of the upper belts,,,,to say the least another California gem amongst the Sierra Nevadas.....thx moo shoo
Americana bjj has the best teachers and students around. The hospitality as well as the direction is top notch. Andrew and the other instructors are amazing people and amazing coaches as well. Highly recommended
I had headaches the first month, because my brain grew from learning so much Jiu Jitsu so fast. Americana is a fun place to train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Americana curriculum immerses the student in the full art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from a variety of different instructors each with different styles. Furthermore the mat culture is open and friendly with positive vibes and energy. Highly recommend .
Great gym with an amazing staff! My kids love to go to class and learn BJJ from the amazing instructors. We recently traveled away to a competition and the coaches came down and supported the kids through the whole event and each of their matches. I’ve found the adults class to be great for a beginner like myself. The trainers are welcoming and very knowledgeable.
Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or a complete beginner, Americana is an amazing place to train Brazilian jiu jitsu! They offer the highest quality of instruction in the area. The owner/head instructor, Andrew, and the other black belts(all under Tanner Rice) are very welcoming and can provide expert knowledge in the art of jiu jitsu from both self defense and sport aspects. There is a tremendous amount of competition experience here. The students are also very helpful and considerate in making it a positive atmosphere for all to be comfortable and have fun while getting a serious workout in. Egos are left at the door. The people here genuinely want to help you get better. Highly Recommend!
Americana Bjj is an amazing gym.. I have been training their for a couple years now and have learned so much. The people there are extremely friendly and welcoming. There are members from all walks of life and the gym has a real family-like atmosphere. Andrew the owner even invites other world class Bjj instructors to the gym to give seminars to his students. This place provides you with an awesome workout, a stronger fundamental understanding of grappling, and lots of fun!
Awesome please to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I've managed Jiu Jitsu gyms in Thailand and trained at nearly a dozen different academies, and Americana is a top notch place to train. Super friendly and welcoming to beginners and everyone. Highly recommended.
American Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a great academy and I consider myself lucky to have found them. The instructors are all extremely knowledgeable and teach the art of Jiu Jitsu in a way that is easy to understand. Ego’s are left at the door and everyone is made to feel welcome regardless of your skill level.
This is the best Jiu Jitsu place I have ever been too. Highly recommend it!
This is the best Jiu Jitsu place I have ever been. They are so nice and they are very professional. You can go in with any skill level. Also, they have great communication.
The owner, Andrew, is fantastic. He was an exceptional influence on my oldest son and 2 of my other kids just started with him. All the staff have been very welcoming, responsive, & helpful.
Wonderful place to train. Family friendly!!!! My son started there for their amazing kids class and now the whole family trains there. They took my grappling game to the next level and I am so happy for it.
I’ve been going to this gym for a while now, and I can’t think of ever training BJJ anywhere else. Americana is a smaller gym filled with many high-level BJJ practitioners, who are friendly and inviting, and eager to teach their BJJ skills to new students in a safe and proficient manner. As time has gone by, it’s hard not to form close friendships with others at the gym.
I have been training at Americana for 5 years. The people there have become my family. Classes are fun and educational. Four Black belts each add their own little nuances to the lessons. My wife trains here and once she's old enough my daughter will as well. I couldn't recommend this place more. If you want to learn self-defense, get in shape, or just try something new you should definitely come in.
