I joined BJJ to get back into kickboxing, and I can’t speak more highly of the dojo and instructors. The instructors know you by name, and work with you personally to improve your skills. The adult class schedules are convenient for those who work during the day, and the gym is extremely clean. This is a great community space, I highly recommend!

Professor’s instructions are clear and understandable. The lessons are really beginner friendly and offer an opportunity to learn martial arts without any previous experience.

I like this place. The professors are excellent. They explain and demonstrate things very clearly. My English is at a low level, but I am able to understand them. I attend one kickboxing class and 3–4 jiu-jitsu classes per week. My kids also train at the dojo and like it. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better.

I was very hesitant when I just started my jiu jitsu experience, however that hesitation was immediately gone when I met the staff. Everyone is extremely friendly, patient and helpful. I love doing jiu jitsu, and I think it’s greatly because of my unforgettable experience here! You guys are the best!!!
Dojo helps you solve problems, be disciplined, build strength and confidence. Professors are amazing, kind and helps all the time. Students are friendly, and mats are clean really good place to learn martial arts.
I couldn't ask for a better more caring school. They have become like family. They ARE family to us. They care about my son's growth both in Jiu-Jitsu and his personal growth. There is more to life than just competition and the greatest competition is being able to compete against yourself. This school teaches life principles and practical tactical Jiu-Jitsu moves. It takes you through life and beyond. 5 years in this May and this recommendation still stands for us.
You’ll love this place from the first class 🫶🏻
Really great community, friendly coaches ,they are so attentive and helping and encouraging you through the training.
Happy to be a part of the team 🩷
Nothing but good things to say about this place the instructors are very welcoming supportive and helpful. Started going to the dojo almost a year ago and don't think I'll ever stop!
Outstanding school. The atmosphere, instruction, and comradery are second to none. Professor Ali and his team are excellent instructors who display a wealth of knowledge, patience, and great service to their students and community.
An extremely welcoming environment! Whether old or young, experienced or new (like myself a year ago), the staff as well as the students will help you learn as you go. For either kickboxing or jiu jitsu, you’re going to have a great workout!
The instructors are very friendly, helpful and welcoming of all levels. Even in the first few classes you learn a lot of unique self defenses and submissions. If you are on the fence, you should definitely try it—you won’t regret it. Even the students are very encouraging and helpful—it’s a community! Chances are, you will want more and more. Have fun learning new things and developing your character!
They have really great classes where you can learn so much. The teachers are constantly motivating the students to improve and be the best they can be. All teachers are extremely knowledgeable and dedicated. The classes have helped me improve my boxing and Jiujitsu skills as well as improved both my physical and mental health.

Great community with great people who will help you with your Jiu Jitsu.
I first started training here in late April of 2023. Professor Ali, Adam, and Sam were all extremely kind and welcoming upon entering the dojo. I took my first two classes for bjj back to back and I’ve been hooked ever since. Ali has curated an environment conducive to learning bjj as well as physical and mental growth. They are all patient with their students and are eager to answer any questions one might have on or off the mat. Professor Ali and staff are great instructors as well as mentors and are invested in their students growth.
Started going to the dojo last year and it's been an amazing experience. It's good exercise and self defense training especially if you're a smaller person or starting out not super athletic.
The instructors do an excellent job of explaining, re-explaining, and breaking down techniques. They really try to give back to the community by hosting charity drives, movie nights, and graduation celebrations. Plus, it's not just the staff that is making sure that you're taken care of, engaged, and continually progressing. Everyone here really puts in effort to take care of one another and make sure it's a respectful and healthy environment so you're safe but also growing.
More than a school it's a family all kids being treated equal with love and respect we feel welcome from Day one. My son loves it and he can't wait for the next class every time. Great for building kids self-esteem. The atmosphere is great energy and positive bites and surrounded by good people all the instructors are nice and with lot of knowledge.
For more than a month now, my 6 years old daughter, has been attending this class, and we both just love it! The instructors are highly skilled, incredibly friendly, and adept at captivating children of all ages. The class is designed in a manner that even young children can gain from it, and I have noticed a significant transformation in my daughter's demeanor as she has become more self-reliant and has developed greater self-confidence. Moreover, they organize numerous social events, all of which are complimentary—a rarity in today's times. I highly recommend it to kids of all ages!
From being mildly curious about grappling to becoming absolutely hooked, this place has exceeded all my expectations. The instructors' wealth of knowledge is unparalleled, and the spotless training space only adds to the overall experience. On top of that, the friendly and welcoming atmosphere has made my time here truly unforgettable.
The community here is very strong and welcoming :) The dojo is super beginner friendly, and there are a variety of kickboxing and jiu-jitsu classes you can take as you become more advanced. If you make time and put in the effort, you will learn a lot of skills and gain mental and physical strength in just a few months. Definitely give the classes a try if you're looking to exercise and gain some self defense skills!
There are also classes for kids which are both fun and educational. In addition to adults, this dojo builds a community for kids; the dojo hosts many holiday themed parties for kids, and they can even bring their friends.
I had an amazing time at Brooklyn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The instructors were extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and the facilities were clean and well-maintained. Since attending classes at Brooklyn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, I have noticed a significant improvement in my overall fitness and feel more confident in my abilities! Thanks for everything! Overall, I had an excellent experience and highly recommend it to anyone looking to improve their fitness, learn a new skill, or just have fun :))

Great training experience and just as great of a community there
This is more than just another activity for my son. Brooklyn BJJ has incredible teachers who care about their students and work hard to teach them not only martial arts but life lessons that they need to grow into well-rounded adults. Brooklyn BJJ is also a community and their special events for Halloween, St. Patrick’s day and their invaluable Bully Busters sessions are events that my son looks forward too and he can even bring a friend. I’m also happy that my son can come and train as often as he likes without limitations to a certain number of days a week. We looked into several martial arts courses in the area when deciding where to bring our son and I’m so glad we chose Brooklyn BJJ. You will be too.
My daughter started taking classes at BBJJ around a year and a half ago, and ever since she became extremely confident in herself, very well organized, and very responsible. The change was noticeable not only for me but also for the family members and friends. She loves going to the lessons. The teachers are amazing here! They not only teach the physical strength, but also help students develop emotional and mental strength. Besides learning, students are having a lot of fun. At BBJJ every Holiday is celebrated with at no cost to the parents. Kids have a chance to invite their best friends to the party and have a movie night or funny activity together. I wanted to thank everyone who is involved with the BBJJ, especially our favorite teachers Mr. Ali, Mr. Cancel and Mr. Sam for being so caring, generous, patient, kind; For never giving up on the students and for never disappointing them. My daughter and I appreciate EVERYTHING you all do for us!
I can’t say enough about this dojo. It has helped my son to have more confidence in his abilities to excel in school and his life at home. If you want a sense of community this is the dojo to be at. The adult classes are great. The Ali and his instructors are awesome. They will help you find your inner strength physically and mentally. If you are looking for a place that gives you this and more sign up. You won’t be disappointed 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽

This is more than a dojo - this is a community, a family, a source of discipline as well as joy. There is no better way to learn, train, be fit, grow and surround yourself with love. More than recommended.
My experience at this school has been great. I’ve been going here since before covid and even then the school was so friendly and great to me. The staff is super friendly and helpful with everything in and out of the school, they truly care for you and your well being. I can’t recommend going here enough if you’re even a little interested in martial arts, it’s has been one of the best decision of my life.
I was looking for a local place where I can get a good workout, and as a bonus learn a skill in the process. And I wasn't let down. Ali and his team are really there to help you. They are welcoming and connect with you on the level your on, and the whole environment pushes for you to keep going, and to advance. I feel much better since I joined BJJ, and look forward to coming back tomorrow 🙂

Amazing environment. Ali is a talented instructor who truly cares about each and every member. I highly recommend Brooklyn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu!
When I first signed up one of the instructors from this location reached out and was eager to help me reach my goals. A year and a half later, both the respect and knowledge I’ve gained from each instructor for both Jiu Jitsu and kickboxing has been invaluable. I love the adherence to tradition while still remaining modern in a growing art.
A great learning environment; the instructors are very attentive, and the fellow students are great to roll/spar with. I've learned a lot and have had great workouts every class.

Can't say enough about how wonderful the instructors are at the Bay Parkway Brooklyn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu location. They are a perfect mixture of fun and discipline, and my son LOVES going to class. Not only is it a great workout but also the best way to teach young kids patience and understanding.

Great dojo. The kids learn alot and the instructors are great.
Thoughtfully designed space that's clean and functional: has separate locker room spaces for males and females, quality floor matts, good air conditioning. Was hesitant to join as I haven't been active in this manner for 15 years, but the instructors are super approachable, supportive and kind. The program has a good mix of kids through adults of all shapes and sizes in each class- somehow everyone seems to get paired up perfectly.

Brooklyn BJJ is a great place to train. Started about 6 months ago, with absolutely no prior experience, and havnt looked back.
Instructors are very knowledgeable and make it very comfortable for all levels.
The overall vibe is great too. Everyone here is really friendly and helpful. We work hard but have a lot of fun too!
Definitely recommend to anyone who wants to get in shape, learn new skills, and improve themselves.
First off, this school has a great lineage. It incorporates tradition with an ever evolving art. The instructors truly care about and develop each student within their own capabilities.
This is not only a school to learn martial arts, but a family that grows together.
I recommend this to anyone at any age, or experience. Especially for families to join together.
My teen daughter recently joined and absolutely loves taking these classes. Very welcoming environment and incredible work out. Stuff and attending people are pleasure. Cherry on top of the cake : very motivating cool music throughout the class that Makes people push for next level

My son loves the school and always look forward to going which bff to bugs joy to my heart! Great environment for kids of all ages!
My kids and I have been training here for over three months, and we're very happy to be part of the dojo family. I have one child in the Junior Basic class, and my other children and I are in the jiu-jitsu and kickboxing classes.
The staff at the Bay Parkway location is great- Mr. Tanveer, Mr. Cancel, and Mr. Bagirov are very welcoming, knowledgeable, helpful, and supportive. Students are encouraged to help each other and ask questions. The instructors and the atmosphere are very inviting, and you feel like family when you are here. The instructors work hard to bring out the best in you and to help you find an inner strength you might not know that you had.
I highly recommend this dojo to families and anyone beginning their martial arts journey.

I always have great fun here everyone is so nice and helpful!
Putting my kids in BBJJ was the best decision I’ve made in a long time. They’re always excited to go and look forward to progressing and getting their next belt. It even got me started on my martial arts journey as I joined jiu jitsu. I have some injuries from an accident slowing me down but I’m in for the long haul. All of the instructors are great. Thank you !
The folks at Brooklyn BJJ are great. They are patient with beginners. They are friendly, open, and welcoming to the point where it's not difficult for me to participate as an autistic person. That and the coaches really know their stuff and know how to adapt their resistance to your skill level perfectly so you're always growing when they spar or roll with you. From what I've seen, they're amazing with kids too.
I'd highly recommend Brooklyn BJJ to anyone looking to learn martial arts, get fit, and be around some great people.
My daughter joined a month before turning 4. She absolutely loves her karate class. She likes her teachers and is excited to socialize with anyone she meets. Her teachers and staff are great and make class fun for the kids. They are true professionals.
What can I say about Brooklyn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, that its an awsome place to be at. My son and I attend every week. The classes for the kids are great. The Sensei makes fun and the kids love it. I highly recommend it. Adult Classes are just as great. The staff treat you like family. Hard work tho, but its worth it. Great enegry from the Sensei and all the instructors. If you are looking for a place that makes you work hard, but makes you feel great after you are done, well this is the place to be. Bring your kids, your friends, family anyone thats wants to transform themselves.
My son attends the Junior Karate program here and he loves it...LOVES IT!!! I am so happy we found a new exercise regimen for him that teaches him how to better focus, have self-discipline and how to take care of his growing body. When he puts on his gi he transforms into a different person. More focused, not playing around and serious about what his is about to do. He pushes himself and tries hard to master every combination. The staff is very welcoming and it really feels like a family atmosphere.

It's a great place to have fun, work out, and learn great martial arts skills.
I joined the dojo initially just to get a more interesting workout closer to home. It turned out to be much more than that. I have never imagined that I will start martial arts training in my 40s. Now more than a year and a half later I train 4-5 days a week.
It is not just the that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an interesting and challenging martial art. It is also the people at the dojo that make you feel part of the family.
The dojo is great and training here is a lot of fun. The people that teach and the people you train with always try to make everyone comfortable.
I have recommended this place to my friends and brought both of my kids to train here.

A great place to practice the martial arts. Great staff and people. You'll be able to easily access advanced classes for a much more immersive experience. Students will even help to teach you how to properly execute skills and will help you notice any mistakes you make to assist in your improvement.

Amazing people really cool to train with. Really welcoming and open to new comers
This place is just amazing, I had no experiences in any forms of martial arts and it is was scary at first because I did not know how it would feel trying to learn something so foreign to me. Needless to say I'm glad I picked this school to start my journey in martial arts. The staff is great they are always pushing students to improve and they always do it in a postie way. they have a great balance of holding your hand and having you naturally improve. The same can be said about the other students everyone here wants to help you and see you improve, simply put if you're new to Jiu-Jitsu or kickboxing come here you will not regret it.
As a person who was never involved with any martial arts, I can sincerely say training here has been one of the best decions I've made. The staff are more than just faculty, they are your friends and mentors who are willing to teach you and make sure you're having a great and fun time. The instructors are very patient and willling to help, the other students are very encouraging and supportive as well. Here you never feel left out and its a great environment to be in. You get in great shape, learn self defense, become disciplined, make friends and overall meet great positive people who are rooting for your success. I highly recommend this school.
My son attends BBJJ for 4 months and I’m so happy that i singed him up,he has build his confidence and his strength, got away from video games ,on the beginning he didn’t want to go and I asked the professor and everyone there for help cause I didn’t want my child to be all day on iPad,tv , video games, ,and they were so ready to help, and now my son can’t wait to attend his classes, what an amazing place,an amazing people,I highly recommend this place.
I can’t say enough good things about this place, I’ve been attending for two months and it has been great. Often times people are reluctant to join somewhere new because they’re nervous but at BBJJ you instantly feel welcomed and a part of a family. Anyone looking to get into martial arts for any reason this should be your number one choice. they are also great with kids!
My son attends BBJJ for over a year now and it has become his second home. First signing him up, I walked in because it was conveniently close to my home and I always wanted him to exert his energy in sports rather than being attached to an iPad or TV. Martial arts is a great way to teach discipline for better school performance. BBJJ incorporates students school performance into the training by ensuring their students are getting good grades. Promotions to higher belt ranks are not only determined by their skill level, but also if they are performing well in school. This has kept my son in check and I am beyond grateful for that. Seeing my son train has inspired me to get on the mat myself. The instructors are thorough and push you to learn. BBJJ is a big family I’m happy to be apart of!
When I first sent my son to Jiu Jitsu I was nervous that he might get injured and that it wouldn't be such a positive experience. Now in retrospect I see how good this is for my son .The instructors have become mentors and the students learn Jiu Jitsu in a safe and positive environment. They encourage them to work hard to reach their goals and to feel good about their accomplishments.I'm so glad that my son goes to such an amazing martial arts program.Thank you
I belong to the Brooklyn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu family for over 6 years now. It's an amazing place to learn this gentle art. Professor Noto is amazing, the instructors are amazing and the people who walk onto the mat are just as amazing. I'm fortunate that I am able to train on Wednesdays at Noon when possible. It's a perfect class, run by Ms. Jessica Stone because it's a wonderful mixture of Jiu Jitsu and cardio. Her attention to detail is insanely meticulous, her energy level is admirably untouchable and her gentle connection to all humans, are just a few of the reasons why I highly respect Ms. Stone. If you are able to attend a Wednesday @ 12:00 class, please do!!
Good vibes, friendly and knowledgeable instructors with a good lineage. The school is kind of traditional with a uniform policy and bowing but it's still a good place. School cares about the community and host fundraisers and charity drives often. Only thing is bring back training at other sister schools!
Despite the caring instructors at this school, I wouldn't recommend coming here if you are interested in becoming a very skilled and diverse kick boxer or practitioner. Most adult classes in the kick boxing classes are cardio-based and unless you are in the advanced classes you won't be able spar. In the adult classes 85% of the class is based on perfecting technique that you won't be able to utilize in the actual dojo. Although, in the past head pads were allowed they are now reluctant on using them because head hits aren't allowed during sparring nor is heavy hits to any part of the anatomy. Members are supposed to be gentle during the classes to try and not injure anybody despite it being a combat initiated school. The Jiu-jitsu on the other hand is a bit better as most advanced classes are very helpful and technique based, and the basic level classes will automatically prepare you for a somewhat beginner level basis of self defense. Overall great school for new members looking to give martial arts a shot, however, people looking to actually learn how to fight more combatively will find themselves disappointed. Also the dress codes, you are required to wear a black long sleeve shirt for kickboxing or a school-given rash guard but nothing else with few exceptions. You cannot purchase your own gear such as gloves, shin guards regardless of the overpriced gear sold in the school. You can find way better gear online for the same price tag as some of the purchased in the dojo tend to not be durable.
It's a good place to train and get better. I love the variety of classes you can take. However, I don't understand moves sometimes, and there is nobody around to help. Also, I don't understand why I can't wear athletic pants (not shorts) to kickboxing. I either have to buy another uniform, or miss practice. I understand that they weren't the school uniform or shorts, but they were black Nike athletic pants, and it was a ONE time occasion. It's little things like this that irritate me.

so i went to theses classes and it did not help me in weight loss mostly because the classes were mostly playing kids games. That was not the problem. I did not want to attend the classes and wanted to end the contract which was very expensive but when I told the teacher i wanted to leave his mood changed. one of the classes he called me to talk before the class started and sat in a place my mom could not see us. He accused me of lying and was telling me i was terrible, I was young and almost cried because i was not normally told that I was terrible. when I finished i begged my mom to go home and she accepted. The staff is mostly good but James Nodo is the problem.

You don't learn anything here you graduate towards your next belt for attendance not by skills so you can be a brown belt and not improving but your there everyday so here's your black belt. You never know if your improving or not because there is no competition. This school has to be the only school that doesn't do competition. It a waste of time and money they don't even teach you how to unarmed someone. It was unfair I was the best in the class but I never got any higher belts because I was absent. Many of the old people that use to go have left and found better school. Blue belts that use to go to this school say when they go to an actual jiu jitsu school that are getting beaten by white belts. This is a scam.
