My experience at Brazil academy has been phenomenal so far. I’ve been attending their learners mindset jiujitsu course for around 3 months now, and I don’t have one negative thing to say about the instructors or school. I would recommend this school to anyone who wants good, formal training, or to anyone who wants to begin a new hobby. The traditional way of teaching has been a great philosophy to implement into my own life as well! The respect within the gym is also great. The community is very welcoming, and helpful in your learning process.

Brazil Academy is incredible! I’m part of the Jiu-Jitsu class, and I look forward to it every single day. The coaches are amazing—super knowledgeable, patient, and motivating. I joined the Muay Thai program here last month and love this place! I've been attending classes at Title Boxing for the past year and a half so I have greatly enjoyed expanding my striking potential here AND I started teaching myself Portuguese a few months ago so here I get to kill two birds with one stone. After having a less than satisfactory experience with the way I was treated by the instructors at a different martial arts studio in town (I'm trans and have pretty noticeable ADHD at times) it has been a breath of fresh air to come here and find friendly coaches who are patient with their students and make class fun while you are working super hard. Muito obrigado, Brazil Academy!

Moved to KC in October and I’m so happy to have found the Brazil Academy. They have a variety of classes every day, including early morning classes which fit my schedule the best. All of the instructors are knowledgeable, with most of the classes being taught by a black belt with multiple black belts in the room. They also have a large competition team that travels all over the world. I feel lucky to have found this gym and would recommend to anyone wanting to get in better shape, wanting to compete, or wanting to be able to defend yourself should the need arise.

If you’re interested in BJJ, I highly recommend Brazil Academy. Ninja is authentic, professional, and fun. He knows how to explain complex movements in a simple and easy way to understand. Stephen is articulate, calculated, and precise in his classes. Overall a great experience and cleanliness and safety is strongly emphasized. I love that they offer early morning classes for my busy schedule.

My family and I LOVE Brazil Academy. My son and I take Capoeira there while my husband does BJJ. They also have Muay Thai and a really good cafe. The professors and mestres are all very knowledgeable. All of the staff members are awesome. One of my favorite parts is the family/community atmosphere. Everyone there is extremely supportive. The kids have a blast with capoeira there. They learn a lot while having fun. I can't speak for the kids' BJJ, but the kids I do hear talking about it seem to enjoy it. The adult capoeira classes are fantastic. Please don't think you need to be in awesome shape or need to be able to cartwheel to start. I started a bit over a month ago and im in my 40's. I'm a little overweight and can't do a cartwheel to save my life. But I'm getting there and this is the best exercise I have ever had in my life! Come join the party! You won't be disappointed!

My wife son and I recently joined Brazil Acadamy. My wife and son taking Capoiera and my self BJJ. I absolutely love this place. The training is hard but super rewarding. All the instructors are very experienced and skilled and very helpful. Best of all they treat you like family. I look forward to everyday I can train and am disappointed anytime I have to miss a class. If you are looking for a great place to train Capoiera, BJJ or Muay Tai, you will not go d a better school or family than Brazil Acadamy Chris Bishop

This school is top notch in their approach to instruction and provide a very warm and welcoming environment. Val, my fundamentals instructor, is super articulate and very patient, on top of being a bad mofo. I have acquired a wealth of knowledge from him in just a few short months. He always has a smile on his face and a willingness to help. They have many black belts on staff that add significantly to the learning experience. They also do outreach to bring in BJJ practitioners from Brazil to America to attend the school. It is a true community and you feel a part of it when you are there. I can’t say enough good things about this place.

I’ve been attending Brazil Academy at Olathe for the past 5 months and it’s been an amazing experience from day one. My original thought was to bring my kids only but once here I though ‘ I’ll give it a try my self’ little I did I know how great all the stuff and professor were that not only learning BJJ it’s great but the camaraderie and environment it’s exceptional. Great way to get in shape super fast too!!

I absolutely love training Muay Thai here. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, it makes all the training so much more enjoyable. I love the cafe they have here too, its filled with amazing and healthy foods. When I was trying to find a good gym, I really wanted to find ones that had showers there as well, since itd make my schedule easier to manage, I was pleasently suprised to find them there. My Instructor, Bruce, is absolutely amazing and clearly very experienced. Again, I absolutely love it, and I'm excited to keep on going!

My Son and Daughter are enrolled in the Capoeira class and love it. In the class they learn basic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu forms through games, dance (moving through forms to music), and a little bit of flat out drill, they also do some cardio to help focus the kids. The class is really fun, but well managed and has really helped my rambunctious 5 year old learn to better follow directions and stay focused in a classroom setting. Plus the other kids and parents are a lot of fun. Highly recommend.

So I'm from another state and was looking a for a good gym to train at for a few days. I found this gym, which is not just good, but GREAT. The instructors here are kind, easy to talk to, and teach well, regardless of level. The atmosphere is relaxed and has an awesome café, with authentic Brazilian dishes! I will always recommend this gym to anyone who is new to out art, or has some experience on the mats! 5/5!

This is the best Academy I have been to. The ramp up classes make sense and teach you the fundamentals so you don’t swim with sharks too soon. I love my instructors and the community is amazing. I couldn’t recommend it more.

The instructors and team at Brazil Academy are the best in Kansas City. Coming into this sport/martial art, not knowing anything, I was a bit conflicted if I should even join at 42. I was wrong. The beginners mindset class got me comfortable in the fundamentals, allowing me the confidence to step up into the advanced class, while turning my life around, mentally and physically. I’m certainly in the best shape of my life. Great people, great gym, great decision!

I’ve only been doing BJJ at the academy and Ninja and his team have been awesome. All instructors are super professional, friendly, and can answer any question any of us have. Everyone I have come into contact with whether it be the staff or my fellow classmates has been amazing to say the least! and the way it is operated is EXACTLY how a martial arts school should operate. I’ve never had a bad experience and I’ve gained a lot more than just knowledge about jiu jitsu! I’ve had to stop training at the moment due to the pandemic but I cannot wait to start up again! Incredible facility; Ninja, Morena and Val are phenomenal instructors and take pride in everything they do at the Brazil Academy. Teachers are top notch, and you’ll instantly become a part of the family. Coaches and students welcome everyone that walk through the front door and by your second class everyone knows your name. I joined here in February 2020. I had been looking to join for six years before that, but never followed up. If you are interested in Jujitsu, you really can't find a better place in Kansas City. The instructors are passionate about Jujitsu and teaching it to new students. If you are thinking about it, jump in. The instruction and facilities are excellent, but really what sets the place apart is the overall environment. There is a distinct sense of community that is shared by everyone that trains and works here. One area where I see this frequently is in the beginner class. The first thing that happens is that the more senior belts in the class will welcome anyone new and make sure to fist bump or shake hands with everyone. The beginner classes are challenging and build upon the previous week's material. Everyone from all skill levels is welcome on Saturdays, which is an excellent way to see where you are and how far you need to go. There is really something for all levels at Brazil Academy; learning the basics, improved fitness, and even the chance to compete. I only have done the Jujitsu classes and a few boot camp classes while waiting for my daughter to get done in class. There are other avenues for learning here as well, such as Capoeira and kickboxing.

This is an amazing place to train. All the higher level belts are great at helping the newbies like me. The owner, Ninja is very passionate about training safely and in a way that is very true to the sport. Training with him is hard work! But it is incredibly rewarding. I was very hesitant to start learning BJJ since I was 28 with zero experience in martial arts, but Ninja and the others at the gym have been extremely welcoming.

If you are considering training Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, this is the place to be. Extremely professional and clean. The highly qualified instructors are extraordinarily intentional in facilitating your growth in brazilian jiu-jitsu and take great joy with you in your achievements and progress. All the team members do their utmost to support each other and help everyone reach their personal goals. I have recieved so much from this team and family, I honestly can't imagine life without them. Only thing I would say, if you aren't growth minded or ready to reach the next level in your personnel life, maybe this isn't the place for you. Or at least, it will very difficult to come here and not become better. It's just the natural consequence when you are on the same team as world champions.

We found Brazil Academy through an online posting and I’m so incredibly HAPPY that we did! They have been amazing with my son, and he is learning so much. I have always been slightly nervous to have my son do these program as he is on the spectrum and it can take awhile for him to understand and he can ask a lot of questions.. but again they are AMAZING with him. He has felt like part of the team from the first class. I can’t say enough good things about them. Literally from the first interaction I have felt welcomed!! One of best places you will ever find!

Great place really nice group of people we have a lot of fun and there are a lot of really strong competitors. They do a great job of taking you where you are and helping you get where you want to be whether you're brand new or a world class athlete.

As a guy who has never done a fighting sport. This place is awesome. I want to say thanks to our instructor Sam who made it challenging and fun at the same time. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is even thinking about trying a fighting sport.

Absolutely incredible experience. I was fortunate enough to go to two classes over the last couple of weeks after wanting to try out Jiu Jitsu for the very first time. I had absolutely zero experience and had no idea what to expect. Sam walked me through everything. He took time to explain techniques, pointed out easy adjustments, and helped me put everything into practice. Whether you are looking for a place to try Jiu Jitsu for the very first time or if you're looking for a gym to continue training... Brazil Academy is the way to go. The only place in KC area to train with a Mestre of Capoeira. Ninja is a fascinating teacher and a humble Champion of many martial arts. Training at Brazil Academy has been a real blessing!
