I truly found my second home at Blue Ridge Martial Arts Academy. The camaraderie here is one of a kind — no one is left behind, and everyone works together to help each other grow. Master Burns and Sensei Ben are phenomenal instructors who go above and beyond to help us master our craft while staying humble along the way. Ms. Lisa is always welcoming and ready to assist with anything we need. They don’t just teach Kenpo — they teach life lessons, discipline, respect, and confidence. There’s no unhealthy competition, just a supportive environment focused on learning and having fun. And trust me, when I first started, my footwork was so bad it looked like I was creating my own dance routine 😅 But Master Burns and Sensei Ben never made me feel embarrassed or discouraged, and even Ms. Lisa was always supportive and cheering me on to do better. They patiently guided me until everything started clicking. I’m truly grateful to be part of the Blue Ridge Martial Arts Academy family.

Blue Ridge Martial Arts Academy is a positive environment with excellent instructors in a welcoming and family-oriented atmosphere. The instructors focus on improving a student's confidence, discipline, physical abilities and instill character-building values like respect and resilience. They have a well-structured curriculum with a focus on proper technique. The instructors, especially Master Burns and Sensei Ben, are highly skilled and excellent teachers. Blue Ridge Martial Arts Academy fosters a positive and inclusive atmosphere where every student feels supported. Students of all ages and abilities grow in confidence and skill. The facility is always clean, and the mats are well-maintained, showing the staff's dedication to a safe and professional environment. Our daughter has excelled and is always excited to go to class. If you are looking for a real martial arts academy vs a cookie cutter karate class then Blue Ridge Martial Arts Academy is the place. It's an incredible place to train and I highly recommend Blue Ridge Martial Arts Academy to anyone looking to start their martial arts journey.

Blue Ridge Martial Arts is an amazing academy. We enjoy taking classes as a family and each student gets individualized attention as they learn and grow. The camaraderie between all students and instructors is wonderful. Truly one of the best experiences!

Our son has been at Blue Ridge Martial Arts since he was three and he is now seven. It has been a joy to watch him grow from the Little Dragons program through the beginner classes. Master Burns and Sensei Ben are great to work with. They have a great blend of high expectations and fun. I would recommend this program to anyone.

There are multiple martial arts and self defense focuses available for all ages. Classes are VERY child and female safe! You will not have any concerns sending your daughters or wife to learn self defense/martial arts here. For the men be prepared to be challenged within your physical limits. If you have age or injury limitations you WON’T be pushed past those. If you want to learn an extremely well rounded martial art Kenpo 5.0 Karate incorporates speed, strength, and science as well as grappling/ground game, and weapons disarming. Everyone there is like a big family! Master Burns and his son Sensei Ben are kind and excellent instructors.

Our son has been attending Blue Ridge for about 3 years now. He started in their Little Dragon program and is now in the youth program and part of their black belt club. Over the years we have seen so much growth in his confidence, self esteem and discipline. We made the decision to start karate because of bullying he had received at his preschool which had destroyed a lot of his confidence. Master Burns and Master Ben have been phenomenal with pushing him to be his best while still allowing room for patience and compassion. We have been amazed by this program. I spent months looking at each karate program in the area before selecting BRMA and have never regretted the decision.
