Blue Dog Jiu-Jitsu, is a small independent Jiu-Jitsu and MMA club in Yeovil. Our goal is to provide quality instruction in a fun, happy and safe environment. We also include MMA classes session and cater to both adults and kids. Come train in one the most effective self defence methods in the world. Used by military and the police. Kids club, lessons on a budget

Roger Head Coach

Black Belt

Roger, head coach, began his martial arts adventure with Kyokushinkai Karate in 1986. Since then, he has trained in Taekwondo, Kickboxing, Muay Thai and Japanese Jiu-Jitsu. In 2017, he discovered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Big Mike

Purple Belt

Coach Mike, also known as Big Mike, has experience in Judo, MMA and Jiu-Jitsu and has reached gold-medal level in competition.

Carl

Blue Belt

Carl brings passion and skill to Jiu-Jitsu, with local competition gold medals and teaching experience focused on encouraging students.

James

Brown Belt

James has spent well over a decade training and teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and regularly attends BJJ Globetrotters camps.

Mal

Jiu-Jitsu Purple Belt - Judo Black Belt

Mal holds black belts in Kickboxing, Judo and Karate and has experience competing across the disciplines.

Mikey

Purple Belt

Coach Mikey Page is a lifelong martial artist with experience in Karate, Taekwondo, MMA and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, plus a military career and a master’s degree in sports rehabilitation.

Was in the Yeovil area on holiday and had a look for Jiu-jitsu gyms I could roll/train at while away. Messaged these guys on Facebook and they replied promptly to say I was welcome to come to the open mat on Sunday (only session I could make). Extremely friendly and accomadating group, will definately come back if I was in the area and would come regularly if I was local.

What a great place to train! Not only the atmosphere is amazing, the entire team is friendly and very welcoming, specially for me, that am a beginner. Roger is a really good (and fun!) coach. You don’t have to commit to a month membership either, pay as you go is an option and it’s 5 days a week training (6 days a week if you do choose to become a member). I have never seen a better deal.

I joined this group nearly a year ago and haven’t looked back since. An amazing culture and climate that has been crafted by a smashing coach. My two boys are now hooked as well thanks to the challenge, support and development that is offered. If you want to be a stronger version of yourself - look no further. I’ve been training BJJ at Blue Dog on and off for 3 years now and have enjoyed every second of it. The people are welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere is always positive and humorous. The Coaches are exceptional in what they do and are always on hand to help you with any questions or difficulties you may have. Roger who is the usual coach is a legend and very knowledgeable who takes great pride in his teachings. He welcomes everyone with open arms regardless of whether they have past experience or no experience. There’s absolutely no discrimination and everyone is treated fairly! They have something for everyone to do regardless of their physical or mental state. Highly recommend Blue Dog to anyone and everyone who wants to try BJJ, MMA or even if it’s just to get out the house and make new friends!

If you want to train BJJ without restrictions you could not find a better place. Roger has a natural ability for teaching and a great mind for BJJ, his ability to help you understand concepts and help you develop new skills is on another level. On top of this Roger is one of the most genuine people I have ever met, and wont hesitate to advice you on your BJJ journey. If you ever have the opportunity to train with Roger I highly recommend it.

Great tuition and atmosphere. Was made very welcome as a beginner a year ago and never looked back. Great training facilities with the new mats etc The team at Blue dog will not only welcome you in with open arms, they will also give you the best training to enable you to improve faster. I honestly can’t think of a single negative thing about this gym.

I was passing through Yeovil on my way to Exeter so fancied popping in to train with the guys at Blue Dog. I’ve met owner Roger before at a seminar and he was so nice and friendly so I figured with was a great opportunity to visit. I’m glad I did. The facilities are fantastic with lovely really high quality mats and lots of space for training. Parking is super easy too. The members were all really friendly and offered some tough but considerate and respectful rounds of sparring. I really loved training there and highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area.
