Loved it, it didn’t work out in the end due to my tight schedule, but the sessions I did make were great. It’s a very welcoming place and if you’re thinking about taking up BJJ I highly recommend you go for it and get yourself to the Black Sheep Clubhouse.
Posted 6 months agoI've been training at this club for three years, now as a blue belt, and honestly, it’s the best place I've ever trained. The atmosphere is incredible – welcoming, supportive, and a true family vibe that makes every session feel like home. So much so that my 5-year-old daughter gets greeted by the fellow fighters and made to feel welcome too. Everyone here made me feel comfortable, whether I was drilling basics or pushing myself in live rolls. The best part is the lack of ego. No one here is out to break you or prove a point; everyone genuinely wants to help each other improve. The instructors and training partners are all focused on building each other up, not tearing anyone down. It’s rare to find a gym where people of all skill levels can train hard without any toxic competitiveness. If you're looking for a place to train, learn, and grow in a positive, pressure-free environment, I can't recommend this club enough.
Posted 1 year agoIf you're looking for a top-notch BJJ gym in Yeovil, this is it. The mat space is enormous, giving everyone plenty of room to roll comfortably – no bumping into each other here! The team is incredible: friendly, skilled, and genuinely supportive, from beginners to advanced practitioners. There are loads of training slots throughout the week, so it’s super easy to fit sessions around a busy schedule. The atmosphere is both challenging and welcoming, making it a perfect place to train, improve, and be part of an amazing community. Highly recommend Black Sheep Academy for anyone in Yeovil or the surrounding area who wants to learn or level up their jiu-jitsu.
Posted 1 year agoDue to my unsociable hour job i was never able to commit to any club and despite training for so many years i never had any consistency nor any syllabus and i was just simply never getting much improvements, then i stumbled across black sheep academy, they have a vast array of training sessions per week to cater for all types of shift workers, and i finally started to get some consistency, to the point i decided to compete as well! Thanks to all the coaches 🙏 There’s a great sense of community feeling and the best environment to train whether you just want to stay fit, destress or compete. Highly recommend!
Posted 1 year agoI was nervous walk through the doors when I first started at Gracie Barra Yeovil, but as soon as I started both the coaches and everyone else made me feel like part of the family. It has helped massively to increase my confidence both on and off the mats. Since I started there hasn't been a single time I've walked out without a smile on my face and been excited for the next time I could train. The best coaches and people.
