Amazing gym! Just was visiting from out of town and dropped in for a morning nogi and evening gi class. Both were amazing! Everyone was extremely welcoming and friendly. There’s a lot of other female grapplers for me to train with but of course even the men were very respectful and great to train with. The head coach is super knowledgeable and gave awesome details that were easy to follow and will immediately be applicable to level up my grappling! Definitely will be planning to return the next time I’m in the area!

This is a great place to train in the Fort Meyers area! The coach has a great vibe and is an active competitor on the jiu jitsu scene! In addition all his students were welcoming and friendly. My girlfriend and I are in town visiting for 3 days and we attended 2 amazing classes. The nighttime BJJ class was absolutely packed from wall to wall and Corey still made time to give us technical details despite only knowing us for one day. This place is the real deal and I appreciate Corey for welcoming us in. The stuff he taught was very applicable and stuff we could immediately implement into our jiu jitsu game!

It’s been alittle over 3 years my son Rylan has been training here! Starting out in this super small gym on Del Prado and has grown to something spectacular at the bigger location, it’s already time for another upgrade, and great for the community of Cape Coral. The Professor and all the coaches under him are extremely great with the younger students. Helping during and after class and taking time out whenever possible to help. I would highly recommend if you’re looking for a place give this place a shot. From day one my son has felt at home there, he has completed so many times, win or lose it’s always a positive experience!

I've trained at a lot of gyms throughout the country as I travel for work (based in boston) . I can usually tell if I'm in a good place or not pretty quickly by the energy in the room. Black tie cape coral was an exceptional experience 👌. The instructor was courteous, engaging , and sets a culture of mutual respect for your training partner. If you're looking to get into jiu-jitsu and you live in cape coral I would highly suggest giving them a try. If I were to live here I believe this would be the gym I would sign up at.

I’ve been training at black tie for 4 years and a half now, a blue belt transplant from Flint, MI. During my travels, I’ve trained at probably ten academies. This one is really good! Very welcoming, mats always clean, friendly. There are some killers here and people here for recreation/hobby/get in shape, too. They make all feel welcome. Just good people! Little bit younger crowd than some places, which I think keeps it funner! Don’t get me wrong though, old guys /gals welcome too,lol! Also no contracts, just month to month. Nogi focus, but gi is trained as well. Professor Corey Brown continues to compete at high level tournaments and has a wrestling and MMA background as well. Leglocks are a focus of mine, and he is an absolute expert and great teacher of leglocks. Very knowledgeable in all aspects of BJJ, and excellent at conveying the information. Rolls with all level of students, constructively or hard (if you prefer). There are multiple black belts that teach/train some classes and roll with all, as well - both excellent instructors! Can be some tough rolls right there, haha! Some great athletes, with extensive knowledge. A big part of the team, and are much appreciated. Striking classes here, too, are excellent. Can’t say enough about the place. Current location has no showers or lockers.

My son who left another martial arts school, and was supposedly done with martial arts gave Corey a chance after an instructor from his old school called me. The instructor said Corey just came down, heard about my son and wanted to meet him. Had to convince him to go, but ever since then he has grown exponentially in every way. He was technically Corey's first full time student. They treat him like family. I would recommend Black Tie BJJ to anyone.

Black Tie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is full of amazing people from Professor Corey and the coaches to the people that train. We moved to the area in 2019, my oldest son, new to the schools, had a very hard time fitting in right away. We signed him up with Black Tie and watched him blossom, gaining confidence and friendships with the kids his age. The kids and adult classes are taught by knowledgeable and skillful individuals. I was recomended to come here by various people while on vacation with my family. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming (especially the owner, Corey) when I jumped into a few classes. The coaches were knowledgeable in grappeling and the club itself was tidy and clean and also was in a great location in general with lots of parking. Overall I would definitely recommend checking out Black Tie BJJ. Lots of friendly and accomplished grappelers gave me some tough rolls and will definitely be back to visit next time we're in Florida!

I was visiting from out of state and decided to check it out on one of the no-gi evenings. I usually come a little early to get a feeling of a place. It was an ongoing kids class (no-gi), and it was fire and very dynamic. I’ve seen many different formats and led one in another combative discipline, and I can assure you that the quality is exceptional. To reiterate, I’ll bring my kids there at any given opportunity when I come back. The only issue one might see is the proximity to the parents, who could be a little too much, in my opinion. However, if your kid has aspirations to compete, they probably should get used to those conditions early. The adult class was great as well. The format was a warmup - technique - rolling in the form of “king of the hill” - a couple of bonus rounds, if I remember correctly, about 10 min each. The quality and complexity of the thought technique were oriented to a broad spectrum of practitioners. Instruction was concise, just the way those of us with a short memory span prefer. Some of the points to consider (not minuses). The place is packed, which is excellent but limits an opportunity for takedowns, scrambles, and practitioners who seek advantage using a faster pace. It’s self-evident that higher belts work intentionally slower and prioritize positional control to prevent potential injuries to themselves and their opponents. Great practice, imho. I didn’t have a chance to check the competition class, and I look forward to doing it next time I’m in town. I still feel bad that the instructor politely refused to collect the mat fee, and I’m very thankful for the opportunity and the day I trained there. I am looking forward to visiting again!

Corey is a friendly and welcoming coach. He’s created a playful and supportive community at his gyms where everyone from little kids to world class competitors can thrive. The space is energized and inviting, as well as clean. When visiting from out of town and training there I learned effective techniques that I was able to instantly incorporate into my game. The breadth of knowledge held by the instructors and their clear and concise communication are sure contributors to the quality of athletes that train at black tie. They just moved to a bigger location so the training area is more spacious, there’s a filtered water dispenser to fill bottles, a clean bathroom, and shelves to put a gym bag. Bonus: The rash guards for sale are sturdy and very sporty!

My son does jujitsu here 3 days a week and it's been great. The coaches know what they are doing and they hold the kids accountable and provide structure in the classes which I appreciate very much. They take the time with each student to assure they are learning. My son really loves it too, he looks forward to each session. My wife and I are really happy we found such a legit place. Their prices are more then reasonable as well.

Was in town visiting my son who trains at Black Tie. Awesome group of guys that are more than willing to help anyone who walks in the door improve their game. I train at a completely different type of academy in NC but everyone I rolled with was super friendly and helpful even when they were crushing me. I would highly recommend Black Tie if you are local or traveling and looking for a great place for a drop in. Corey is highly skilled but incredibly humble, one of the nicest guys you will ever meet or train with.

I was visiting from out of town and reached out to Black Tie jiu jitsu to get some training in. The head coach and owner, Corey, is super friendly and down to earth. He has a great group of talented beasts on the mats. The environment is great, with welcoming people who train hard. I was getting destroyed from the 10 min rounds, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I highly recommend visiting these guys if you’re in Cape Coral.

Awesome members and teachers who are motivated and driven to learn and teach. Spectacular exercise I am down almost 30 pounds in 5 months. Myself and my 9 year old son joined and it has been a great bonding experience. There is no striking or hitting, so for me being in mid 40's, very little risk of getting hurt. Feels great to push myself and be in a competitive fun atmosphere.

My experience at black tie jujitsu was one that I honestly will never forget it was such a welcoming and friendly environment I’m a purple belt who visited my family from the East coast I needed a place to train. I come from a gym with zero politics and training partners who just want to train and better themselves as soon as I walked in I knew that I was around like-minded individuals good vibes, good quality jujitsu and clean facility what more could you ask for. if you are in the area or if you are wondering where to train in Cape Coral definitely go to black-tie you will not regret it. head instructor Cory is a great guy who you can tell truly cares about what he is doing He took his time when talking to me which frankly he didn’t need to put much effort in as he knew right off the bat that I wasn’t going to sign up but he still made me feel welcome if you’ve traveled before to train at other gyms you know that sometimes it’s a gamble but in this gym you can rest in knowing that you’re going to enjoy being there ,these dudes can train I was truly impressed I can go on and on go moral of the story this is the right place to go.

Was visiting from out of town, and I highly recommend this gym. If you're in the area you can definitely get some good rounds with good partners here, and it was a really welcoming group of people. Solid coaching as well, definitely picked up a thing or two. I got to say it was a packed class when I went and very well managed, I was able to safely and comfortably get plenty of rounds in which is always a concern for me at a new place with a lot of competitive people in one room, but they did a great job. Thanks you to the staff at black tie and everyone who attended while I was there, keep up the good be work.

Our son has been doing BJJ since he was 6 years old and it is the best choice we could have made for him. He also plays other sports but the ability to stand up for himself, the self confidense, respect and sense of responsibility BJJ teaches in priceless.We recently moved to FL and tried Black Tie BJJ and I was pleased to see "serious" and pleasant couches, nice gyms. We are new to the club but Brayden has already learned new techniques and he is working on things he needs to improve.

I had a membership at the Cape Coral location. Nice community and good instructors. The two star review is for the payment system. I was paying my membership fee via credit card. Apparently, in the fine print in the terms and conditions document that I signed to pay for my membership via credit card, there is a clause which says that one must provide the gym with 30 days notice prior to terminating your membership. 30 days notice is pretty ridiculous for ending a gym membership. I decided to cancel my gym membership in mid-January of 2022 because I was too busy to make use of it, and I was still billed for the entire month of February despite not using the membership for a single day in that month (or for the last 2 weeks of January for that matter...). I tried to contest the charge, and this was how I learned about the fine print in the terms and conditions document that I signed. Moral of the story: The community at the gym and the instructors are good, but if you decide to join the gym, either pay your monthly membership fee via cash or be prepared to cancel your membership 30 days in advance if you do decide to stop going to the gym.
