My boys have done MMA for years and wanted to try BJJ and Judo. They absolutely love it and have learned so much already. They've made new friends and look forward to every session. Black Dog BJJ is such a welcoming and friendly gym, and as a parent I love the atmosphere too – I can sit with a brew, get some work done and know they're having a fantastic time. Highly recommend!

Been training here for a couple of months now and I’ve really enjoyed it. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming. Both Alex and Oly are excellent, really helpful, and always open to answering any questions. I’ve also been really enjoying the judo sessions. Nigel is a great instructor and having the chance to learn from an ex-Olympian has been great. Would definitely recommend to anyone thinking about starting BJJ or Judo in Wigan!

Just started training here and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better place to begin the journey. From the moment I walked in, everyone was incredibly welcoming, supportive, and willing to help. As someone new to it, that made a huge difference. The coaches explain techniques clearly and take the time to make sure everyone understands, no matter their experience level. The atmosphere on the mats is brilliant—really positive, respectful and focused on helping each other improve. What stood out most was how encouraging everyone was. Higher belts were happy to give advice and work with beginners like myself and there’s a real team spirit that makes training both challenging and enjoyable. Class sizes are smaller than I expected also which seems great. Really looking forward to continuing the journey here. If anyone is thinking about starting BJJ or looking for a great place to train, I’d highly recommend it!
