Amazing gym with great people. I started as a complete beginner with no background in grappling. The head coach genuinely cares about everyone in his gym and wants the best for each person. His high-level teaching across all skill levels allowed me to earn multiple gold medals. I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking to stay fit or learn Jiu-Jitsu at a high level.

I have been training at BJJ Lifestyle Academy in South County since 2019. I served 8 years in the USMC got out in August, 2018, my transition back to the civilian sector was very difficult, I was having issues with PTSD and missed being part of the brotherhood in arms. It wasn’t until November 2019, that I knew I need to fill that void in my life, so I started researching and calling around for places to train. I called a bunch of places but Mike was the only one who called me back, he welcomed me with a free trial and was very friendly. After speaking with him in person I immediately knew this wasn’t something he did part time or outsourced to others, BJJ was his life passion and he spoke about it as if he was speaking about a dear friend. I soon realized what Coach Mike was offering wasn’t simply BJJ lessons, he was offering a chance to be part of a family which was what I sorely missed, he was offering a chance for me to push myself outside my comfort zone and develop my mind and body. Mike is an exemplary coach, his attention to details and small nuances with techniques makes all the difference! I have spent my military career dealing with professionals and what sets the professionals apart from others is they have a extremely good foundation and are experts at the FUNDAMENTALS! I feel Coach Mike takes the same approach and has a crawl, walk, run, sprint approach to teaching. It has been an honor being his students and training with him has helped my mental health tremendously. I would recommend BJJ Lifestyle Academy to anyone!

BJJ is a terrific martial art to learn and grow in mind, body, and spirit. I have been training at this winning academy for 2.5 years. Great student attitudes are highly encouraged. I have also trained at a few other gyms in different cities/states. At bjj lifestyle the coaching team has been patient and kind with me as they understand that everybody is different, has different goals, comes from different backgrounds, understands different concepts, etc. This is a great place to learn and practice. The gym is clean and mats sanitized after each class. Has bathrooms, etc. The instruction is practical and I see a number of law enforcement personnel trains here and I personally believe that all people and every law enforcement worker should get up to blue belt level and beyond. Through my personal journey Bjj has taught me not about what I need to change about the world...rather what I need to change about myself.--edit 2024: another year has passed and i stand by this review.

Great place, definitely recommend. I immediately got a good first impression with Coach Mike - there was no high pressure sales pitch or “discounts” for immediate sign ups (actually get free week to try). Between the two gyms, class times are offered in early mornings, late mornings, evenings, and wknds, and have gi and no-gi options, so easy to work in variety. Coach and instructors are credible with lot of competition experience, but remain approachable. I have two years in and look forward to more at BJJ Lifestyle Academy.

My daughters ages 12 and 10 started here last month under coach Mike. Even though they are both brand new they have learned so much in a short amount of time. He instills discipline while the kids have a great time. Mike also wants them to learn and grow in confidence through his Jiu Jitsu school. As a parent I appreciate that he wants the kids to work hard and earn it to be the best. My daughter made me go out and buy a mat for the house so she can practice her rolls. Thank you Mike for your dedication in helping my kids!

Started training a little over a year ago, and I will not become a member of any other gym! Coach Mike is a great coach, and an even better leader and mentor. His knowledge of the martial art is second to none, and you can see it with the way the team trains and performs. I highly recommend attending any of his classes if you have any interest!

Mike is a wondeful teacher. He takes his time to explain drills thoroughly and gives his students time to drill each move untill they can achieve it. For a white belt like me, it can be intimidating to visit other schools when traveling. But I'd recommend BJJ Lifestyle Academy to anyone living in the St. Louis or just visiting.

please do not trust these positive reviews : some of them are fake and THIS PLACE IS A SCAM !! They are only interested in taking your money and trapping you into a multi year contract . Guarantee they respond to this review trying to get me to come back in and sign a contract with false promises… they will say whatever to get you to sign a contract with them ( the only way you get any of the free offers they advertise is by signing the contacts also btw )

I read all these reviews and thought this would be a great place to learn and train and boy did I get a reality check. The man there (who didn't give me their name) couldn't give me any information on pricing all he could tell me is its a 2 year minimum contract and they do both no gi and gi. When I asked if I could use the card for the free class they offer he said it's available after signing the contract and since only one other person was there to train I was refused because "I don't do 1 on 1s" and I really feel bad for the guy that was there because since no one else showed up he just doesn't get the service he's paying however much for.
