Been to a bunch of sessions with Barry, his instructions are clear and he is always happy to go over the technique until you’re happy with it. Great for beginners and for people who want to progress further/do competitions/or grading.

A coach who knows what he's talking about! He'll help you out in whatever you want to do competition or just keeping fit. After training with Barry myself I can say from first hand experience he's amazing!

There are very few places in the UK that run SAMBO classes. But if you want to be the next Khabib or Machachev, and live near Hertfordshire, you’re in luck- there is a phenomenal instructor that will push you to become as good as you will yourself to be. Expect tough sessions. Sparring, no water, and learning a range of techniques that Barry has personally used over the past two decades. Ground work, striking and the one thing BJJ tends to be limited in: take downs. Being great on the ground is helpful, but you have to get there first. Look at what happened to Oliveira! .

If you are looking for serious training then look no further! I cant recommend Base Monkey more I trained with Barry at their previous location but unfortunately due to work commitments the new location I can't reach but if the opportunity can up I would love to train with Barry and Base monkey again.

Brilliant coach who will support you whether you want to focus on competing or self-defense with the most effective techniques, breaks it all down which is really helpful when you're new, but also pushes you regardless of experience and skill level
