My daughter is 7 years old and she loves this place. She has tried a few different karate places, but this one seems to show them more of what real life events and exercises that helps them get stronger and healthier. Thanks for all that you do!
BAMs Martial Arts & Fitness builds and promotes a complete martial artist in life and in the Gym. The tremendous amount of respect, humility and greatness their has truly transformed my life for the better. They are more than just a Dojo, they are a family.
This place is great ! I originally started going to lose weight and tone but gained so much more ! The classes and instructors are awesome. They really push you to do your best and not togive up. I was worried about being the only one not being able to keep up since I hadn't worked out I while but not here! They have all levels so I never felt out of place.
BAMS is not only a great place to learn Martial Arts, but it also teaches practical life lessons. Kudos to BAM and the staff.
I’ve been looking for a place like this for at least 10 yrs. A Dojo that is so much more than school, but a Family of True Honor & Respect & Learning. Day 1—u will leave in pain (this is a Good thing!!! And honorable!!) From the smallest child to the oldest adult…there’s respect shown, effort encouraged, and knowledge shared on so very many levels!!! Im not one for being at a loss for words, but….a hot bath w epsom salt & baking soda becomes familiar (im well over 40 & not in the best shape) and i Love it!! Although every class is different (there is Zero boredom here), you leave each day feeling proud of yourself and grateful for life. BAMS is pure Serotonin & Dopamine & Adrenaline expressed in a controlled respectful environment. And yet…..it’s! so! much! more! It is an honor to have found this school. Yes, it does appear that classes are taught in a traditional manner where younger students are allowed to see how the older students behave/perform in class. But this is a Good thing! It is honorable to have young black belts teaching my oldness new things!! It is….. not only honorable….it’s a vital part of learning. Ive read reviews below & id encourage people to understand that living in Md is not cheap. And as a family oriented facility in a family oriented art practice…..we’re supposed to care for one another. But aye….my experiences are mine. And im grateful. So….BAM! And no im not paid for this review. This isnt Amazon. In fact….i just left class a bit ago & im sitting in the tub soaking in epsom salt wishing the water were hotter because we learned a lot tonight.
Best Martial arts school. They really believe in a well-rounded child; and incorporate your child's performance at school and at home to determine if they can test for the next belt level.
A good day with fellow martial artist work on some PTK Stick Drills
Wonderful team, I love being there feels like a family, besides teaching the kids respect, self defense and feel confident. The instructors are super super. Thanks the Bambs.🤗🤗🤗
The instructors here are the best. I love how they encourage the kids, teaching yhem never to give up, manners as well as discipline. My son loves going here.
I found The BAMs four years ago in my search for an intense workout. From the moment I arrived I knew I was in the right place. It has been an awesome journey with both personal highs and lows. Martial Arts was something new for me coming from a ballet background. They actually helped me find ways to blend the two and feel comfortable in class. I would say this has been a great experience for me and I really appreciate all of the hard work and life lessons along the way. Excellent school for children and adults interested in martial arts.
My son has been a part of this Academy for almost five years. The way they’ve treated us and him has been nothing short of perfection! He started once a week at Lifetime Fitness and soon enough we moved him to their base academy, where he’s been til this day. We can’t thank them enough for the work they’ve put on for these kids, it’s been a pleasure being prt of this academy!
I've been there for a couple years now and I've been through the ups and downs, and can I say that these people will change you for the better, mentally, physically, and spiritually. They prepare you how to deal with your emotions and any adversity that could come your way in life.
My son attends Bams and he loves it. They teach great discipline and techniques. My son has made great strides in both respecting others and his fighting techniques. I would recommend anyone to send their kids here!!
We found BAMS during a difficult season of our family's life. We knew we wanted to have something that was productive for our daughter, but we never expected to find a place that almost immediately felt like a second home. From the very first class, we felt welcomed and supported. The owners, Kimber and Bam, as well as the fellow student leaders in the school work hard to make sure that they are not only cultivating exceptional martial arts instruction, but also a strong community. They encourage a lifestyle of total self mastery. Every class is more than simply learning forms and drills, but is also full of wisdom and life lessons on confidence, success, focus, and respect. We were so impressed with this school and community that my husband and I joined a month after my daughter. I went from being almost completely sedentary to working out four times a week (and loving it) at five months pregnant. They modified the workout for me so that I could participate with my physical limitations during pregnancy and every class is full of positive energy, lots of sweat, and pushes everyone in class to really dig past what they think they are capable of. In the short time we have been here, our daughter has shown so much progress not only in her skill, but also confidence and focus and we have found that doing this as a family has been a source of strength and comfort. I am infinitely grateful to have found this place and look forward to growing in my own self mastery with these teachers as a guide and support for years to come. I recommend this school to anyone who not only wants an awesome workout, but a space to uplevel their lives through the development of personal strength, positivity, focus, and mindset mastery.
My 6 year old son loves the Bams and is always excited to learn more. My son refers The Bams as his family, ( his brothers and his teachers). An only child never exposed to this type of environment, welcomed the first day. Self confidence, attitude, respect, and honor are important to him...Its amazing how a 6 year old respects and honor his Creed, his professor and Masters and his peers. I've seen my son blossom into an honorable respectable intelligent 6 year old boy destined for success and determined to do more, be more.
My son started Kung Fu with the BAMS in 2017 and he loves it! The professor and Master K are professional, organized, and thorough. They are truly committed to the program and wanting the best out of the kids that attend. Master K is great with my son and she doesn't play around. Allowing my son to learn, discipline, focus , and respect. I am happy I found this program. My son is bi-racial and the group is very diverse which is also what attracted me. They are also very experienced and the best at what they do. Great program for ALL ages.
Bams Martial Arts and Fitness is a great place for children ages 2 and up to learn martial arts. My daughter Trinity has improved in being assertive, student helper overall skilled in class. It's truly amazing to see how much Trinity has bloomed over the years with Ms. Kimber and Professor Bam. We are excited to be apart of this winning team. Kudos to my daughter Trinity for never giving up and always pushing forward.
This school is really great for young children. I was told by a few other martial arts centers that my son was to young to be in a kung fu class. But not at the BAMS center! This is a family owned and operated business with world champion black belt, vetted individuals that teach not just martial arts but true values to youth and adults. My son, now 4 years old has learned a lot about respect, unity, and has gained knowledge that I am sure he will take with him many years to come! Thank you Master K and Master Bam for reinforcing the values I teach my son at home at your center and making my son a little ninja.
I became interested in Martial Arts after taking a Tai Chi class with the county recreation department. As an adult beginner I was looking for dedicated adult class at a time I could attend. This is what initially attracted me to The BAMs because they had twice a week classes at 8:20 pm. They were very welcoming and attentive at my first session and just the right amount of intimidating. You immediately knew they expected you to work hard but that you would get better. Professor Bam and Master K don't just have the credentials on paper, you can tell by the way they conduct themselves, that they love what they do and care about you getting the most out of every time you go. It's obvious they have spent years improving themselves and improving their techniques for teaching and motivating people. They also have built a great support staff with Master Green, Ms. Brittany, and all the senior students. I am happy to have found the school and would definitely recommend it to others. For me, each time I go, sweat and pain are a given but so are improvement and a sense of accomplishment.
This is an amazing martial arts school. The instructors are top world competitors and they are amazing teachers. I never thought I would fall in love with Kung Fu until got into my first class. The women's self defensive classes are effective and a great way to burn calories. Try it. You will love it.
The Bams impressive team can take any individual (beginner, like myself, or blackbelt) to a whole new level in their martial arts/self defense skills/fitness/attitude. Thanks to this amazing Dojo I am stronger in every way.
It's a small style family owned martial arts studio. They were offering classes via zoom due to covid and also in person following necessary protocols. My 15 yr old grandson attends. He's never taken any martial arts or self defense classes or sports classes before. He loves his karate class. At the time of this post he's beginning 3rd month.
Completely neglectful and unprofessional establishment! I wanted to enroll my 3 yr old in the BAMS Little Ninja's, age 3-6 program. I spoke more with Professor Bam, the owner, for more info and although there were many other programs nearby, I chose to support, even though it was 30+ mins away. He even mentioned how his son started as a toddler at the gym. However, I quickly realized they have no idea how to run a class for 3 year olds. 1st Orientation - I quickly realized we were in a class with older/advanced belted kids who were already enrolled (maybe 6-8+ year olds). I was given the impression that we would attend a trial for the Little Ninjas kids class, not a drop-in to an advanced class with current students of older ages/belts. However, like the champ that he is, my child did a great job trying to keep up in spite of the lack of developmentally appropriate instruction. The owner insisted my child did well (given the circumstances) and said he should continue the trial period. 2nd Orientation - we arrived 5-10 mins early, did covid pre-screening & temp checks with Kimber, the owner's wife/co-instructor, who was not present at the 1st orientation. Red flag #1: After pre-screening, I sat down to take my child's shoes off, but was told I couldn't sit on the chair bc of covid protocol. Ok cool - I got up, took his shoes off while crouched on the floor. Side note, I'm pregnant, but understand that protocol is for everyone. I then asked Kimber if I could use the gym restroom. Though I am visibly pregnant, she said I couldn't use the open restroom (located 5 ft away from me) due to covid, but could walk all the way to the main entrance of the bldg and find another. I looked at her with absurdity, but again respected the protocol and waddled all the way through the main bldg in search of a restroom which were all locked! Y'all, it took me 10 MINS to find one and a janitor to unlock it!! All bc she didn't let me use the one in the facility BEFORE class even started. If we were pre-screened to enter the gym, what was the big deal? Afterwards, I waddled all the way back around to the gym only to find my 3 y/o child OUTSIDE with just his socks on and Kimber standing inside the doorway like security. I asked why my child was put out with no shoes, she claims bc he wasn't listening/following along with the owner who was leading the older kids in a belt advancement test...says he kept taking off his mask and couldn't be in the gym without it, so he had to stand outside (without shoes!). I realized my son's mask was wet, took him to the car to get a fresh dry mask. I bring him back to the gym and she says she doesn't think the class is a good fit for him because of his age (well yeah, Kimber…he's 3 in an advanced "orientation" with over a dozen 6-8+ year olds). Kimber's verbal abuse continued as she called my child verbally unresponsive and asked me if he'd ever been to "other types of classes before". For the last 15 mins of class, Kimber dumped my child in the back of the class to fend for himself without any proper instruction. After class, she insisted we not enroll in the Little Ninja's class which would have been developmentally age appropriate. We came for a fun trial, but only received abuse and neglect. ...and Kimber, please do not message me on here to offer a farce of an apology in an attempt to vindicate yourself for your calloused and neglectful behavior. You know what you did and, as long as this review is, it still doesn't even fully describe the extent of your gross unprofessionalism. There is not a word you can type here that would excuse your actions nor negate the karma that you just asked for or may even have already gotten. Instead, do some deep self-reflection on this feedback and strive to implement better policies to make sure that the student of any parent who woefully spends their hard earned money with you, gets the absolute best care and service. Would you have treated your own child in that manner? A BETTER ATTITUDE can take you further than the negativity that you so boldly displayed!
