I can't recommend Atlas enough! Professor Joe has gone out of his way to provide excellent instruction in an inclusive environment. His structure and discipline go far beyond the class environment and I couldn't be happier to have chosen this BJJ gym to join.
Posted 10 months agoBest BJJ environment in the region! Professor Joe is a dedicated instructor who cares about his students and the community. He is passionate about this art, and provides a challenging but inclusive atmosphere for anyone from beginner to world-class athlete. Atlas members also get to train at the flagship Albany location, Valatie and Waltham, Mass as one team! Call them for a free trial class.
Posted 10 months agoMy son has been attending kids’ jujitsu classes at Atlas for almost a year now, and loves it! Professor Joe and the other coaches are great with the kids. My son started off shy and unsure, but quickly became engaged and it’s been wonderful watching him build up his confidence and self esteem. The classes are well organized and focus on structure and discipline while also incorporating fun and games!
Posted 11 months agoMy daughter has been attending kids’ jujitsu classes at Atlas for 5 months, and she loves it! Professor Joe and the other coaches are fantastic with the kids, fostering a friendly, supportive environment with excellent structure and discipline. The classes are engaging and well-organized, and the Atlas community is full of great people who make it a welcoming place for everyone. Highly recommend!
Posted 1 year agoMy son and I have been training at Atlas Jiu-Jitsu in the South Glens Falls for just shy of 3 years now. The atmosphere is amazing. Everyone is welcoming, everyone who trains is always looking to help their team mates improve at Jiu-Jitsu. The Black belt and head instructor Professor Joe at this location is an amazing person. He truly enjoys what he does and you can see it when he is teaching. I also love the fact my son and I can train at any one of the 4 Atlas locations with our membership. Plus they dont just offer Jiu-Jitsu there is more that is offered, kick boxing and strength and conditioning. The team has an amazing track record when it comes to competition if thats your thing. I honestly could say more but if this review is long you may not read it all. Just come and try it out as It’s free to try.
Posted 1 year agoCoach was patient and knowledgeable. Facility was clean and members were welcoming.
Atlas would be a great gym for anyone at any level. Everyone there is very kind, helpful, and most people are really funny too. Professor Joe runs a solid program.
First class there and it was an amazing experience, felt welcomed and the environment was great!
Great place to learn self defense. Joe is a wonderful instructor and has a wide range of knowledge. The students are all super friendly and approachable. There's changing rooms and lots of mat space. The mats look new and are very clean. What are you waiting for? Go train!
Joined Joe’s academy for a few months while working out of town. Was a very welcoming environment, Joe has excellent skills and all his students are passionate for the sport. Coach Justin runs his striking class and was excellent as well. Highly recommend visiting or training here if you are in the area
I started going to Atlas in SGF about 3 months ago and I love it there. Both staff and clientele are friendly and patient. I attend kickboxing, sparring and strength and conditioning classes and the instruction is professional but relaxed at the same time. There is no pressure and you advance at your own pace. Its a safe space to grow and learn while enjoying a great workout. Highly recommend.
I was looking for a place to train while on vacation with my family in the Lake George area. This was my first experience attempting to train while travelling, since starting my journey (41yr old white belt). Professor Joe Zakriski and his team couldn't have been more welcoming! I would recommend this academy to anyone in the area looking to start their own journey or to anyone travelling through. In my limited experience with Jiu-Jitsu I have learned that we all need good safe training partners, knowledgeable teachers and a positive environment to train. This hit all the checkmarks for me.
I was vacationing in the Lake George region and dropped into Atlas BJJ. Very glad I did! The gym was spacious, well organized, and the mats were perfect clean. The staff that greeted me were super friendly. Head Instructor Joe Zakriski taught a well planned progression from back mount over the course of a 90 minute class. I absolutely left that day with technical details that elevated my game! I highly recommend this gym to anyone beginning or continuing their BJJ journey. They conducted themselves professionally and made me feel welcome. Highly recommended!
This gym is amazing!!! I would 100% recommend it. Joe and Justin are extremely talented and patient leaders making this gym demanding but forgiving for beginners. I’m happy with the time I spent at this gym. if you’re looking for a gym and not sure which one to choose, stop looking and choose atlas Jui Jitsu.
My son has been going here for over 2 months now. He loves going. The team is great and they work side by side with your child if they don't understand something. There are many different levels, but no one ever makes you feel inferior (even if you are just starting out like my son). All the instructors and all of the clients are amazing, friendly and very welcoming. I never feel like anyone is passing judgement on myself or my son. They want to work with you to make you feel better about yourself and make sure you are doing the technique correct. Highly recommend Atlas BJJ
HIGHLY recommend the Tiny Titans program. Joe and his staff are fantastic!
Had an excellent experience dropping in for lessons and some rounds while visiting from Austin. Joe was incredibly welcoming and professional, taking the time to show me around the gym. The atmosphere was great, and the rolls were top-notch. Thanks for the hospitality—I’ll definitely be back!
If you’re concerned about not feeling welcome or not “knowing enough” put it aside. The environment at Atlas is open to anyone. I have been attending the kickboxing for almost 6 months now and the experience has been fantastic. The instructor Justin Hall is a great guy with an incredible ability to work with you and break techniques down. He will take a minute at any point to help you to the best of his ability. My fellow students have always been great. Since my first day everyone has been so willing to lend a hand. You don’t feel like you “have to” go to class rather you “get to”. The goal is for everyone to improve together, never just self improvement (although there is lots of that as well). Since starting kickboxing my body feels more athletic and my mobility has improved greatly. My cardio is better than it has ever been and I have a blast while doing it. I have been in the Jiu-jitsu for only a week as of writing this post. What I can say is that the instructor Joseph Zakriski is an incredibly skilled jujitsu instructor. The way he effortlessly explains techniques and breaks them down allows anyone to follow along. He, just like Justin will lend a hand at any minute. The environment is incredibly welcoming, as someone with zero grappling experience before hand. My fellow students are always willing to be patient with me while I flop around like a fish attempting the move of the day. Since joining the academy not only has my physical health greatly improved but my mental health has as well. Knowing I get to attend this program week after week is always something to look forward to. I plan to stay a member for life if possible, this gym has given me so much in a very short amount of time. If you’re debating it, just go. A free class never hurt anyone.
The head coach Joe was very friendly and a great technical instructor!! All of the students were friendly and welcoming and the academy was clean and spacious was in town for vacation and trained every day I could would definitely recommend and go back anytime I am in the area!!
Highly recommend Altas Jiu Jitsu and MMA. Have been attending their kickboxing and striking classes for several months and have enjoyed it immensely. The instructors, Joe and Justin, are excellent. The community and atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming.
Awesome place! My son absolutely loves the striking class. The members are very welcoming of all levels and the support of each other is wonderful! It's definitely worth checking out!!!
Just started Ju-Jitsu here a little over a month ago and have nothing but great things to say about this place. It has a very welcoming, clean and friendly atmosphere. Very team orientated and humble, great place for those who’ve struggled to feel included anywhere. They have classes that range all times of day and can help condition you to where you want to be and still have fun.
I have nothing but good things to say about Atlas, I started there about a year ago and I have to say it was hands down the best decision of my life. The instructors for both Jiu Jitsu and kickboxing are amazing very knowledgeable and professional. The entire academy is like one big family everyone is very welcoming and patient and always love to see new faces coming in. If you are on the fence about starting your martial arts journey look no further at Atlas you can find a second home.
Very welcoming and friendly! Classes are daily so it’s very easy to accommodate different schedules!
Showed up to demo a few classes while I was visiting from Rochester and it was great! Welcoming environment, great gym, phenomenal coaches. I recommend everybody to come and check it out!
I became a permanent student of Martial Arts in my early thirties, arriving into Jiu Jitsu midway. If I had a single regret, it’d be that I didn’t find and ignite this fire sooner. You will never push yourself harder in life, than on those mats and the people at Atlas will give you every tool you need. If you want to see the strongest version of you, spiritually, mentally, physically… there’s no better way to start. You won’t find better teachers, leaders or teammates. It’s not just a team, it’s family. It’s not just a gym, it’s HOME. “Through struggle comes greatness”.
I have been attending Atlas for approximately 3 months now (multiple times per week). From the very beginning, I felt welcomed and comfortable. The instructors do a terrific job at partnering each student with somebody who will help or improve their skill level. As a middle aged beginner to martial arts, I felt relieved that I could learn at an appropriate pace while still being challenged. I cannot say enough about the support offered by the fellow students and instructors. Atlas has a wonderful community of individuals that are as kind as they are competitive. Lastly, I’d like to mention that the skills being taught are actual skills that could be used in a self defense situation. I had studied Karate and KungFu as a younger person, and while I enjoyed both of these arts, I found them to often be more of an art than actual self defense skills. The BJJ classes and Striking classes I have attended are clearly more applicable to real life situations than other arts I have studied in my past. My only regret is that I hadn’t made the time to join this gym earlier. In the past 3 months, I have improved my physical fitness, self defense skills, and mental well being more than I had ever anticipated. If you are reading this and debating whether to attend a class, I strongly encourage you to just go. You will not find a nicer group of people to spend your time learning a new skill set.
A great place to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and be in the company of other awesome humans. Accurate, clear, simple teaching. Clean mats. A hospitable, friendly, fun environment. Great for the casual Jiu Jitsu player or the serious competitor. There's strength and conditioning classes and striking classes too!
Great coaches, great people, and great atmosphere!
I started bjj a few months ago and I'm super grateful to have found Atlas. I had zero martial arts background but quickly fell in love with this place. It seriously has the best community of people that I've found since living upstate. Professor Joe is like no other and makes classes super fun while also being very precise in his teachings. Coming to Atlas has helped me feel more disciplined and also get into better shape. I'd recommend a trial class to anyone who wants some self defense skills, to pick up a new hobby, to get into shape, and for kids classes as well! Atlas is the best for all things martial arts and fitness!
I am a disabled veteran. I also have a service dog. Atlas, and the coaches accepted me and my dog and have not only helped me lose 50+lbs, they have also put me on track to fight and compete again. No matter your fitness level, the staff at Atlas will bring you up to speed. Atlas is a place anybody can go. No matter who you are, you will fit in here. The atmosphere is amazing.
We have been attending Atlas for a couple years now and my daughter has been supported and encouraged every step of the way. She has learned to dig deep and be a strong competitor in this awesome sport. We would have never been able to do without the incredible support of the instructors and our jiujitsu family at Atlas ❤️
I feel very thankful to have discovered Atlas Jiu Jitsu Glens Falls in upstate NY. The instruction is excellent! There is a strong emphasis on the fundamentals with innovative linkages to advanced concepts. The team is supportive and hardworking--everyone wants you to be successful on and off the mats. The team members do remarkable things for the community as well. Professor Zakriski individualizes instruction on the fly to make you more successful. Thanks!
I live in Connecticut but visit Atlas regularly and can't say enough good things about this gym, Professor Joe, and everyone that trains here. When it comes to training with welcoming and supportive people, I haven't experienced a better jiujitsu environment than I have at Atlas.
Great place. Joe was very accommodating to me despite me having zero experience and even less athletic ability. I only experienced the BJJ side of the gym but it looks equipped to handle striking/boxing, and strength & conditioning as well. I’m glad I went.
Atlas is the perfect place to get in a workout! I’ve been doing kickboxing for over a year now and everyone there is nice and accepting. I love the space there, I am very comfortable being there and the coaches are very amazing! You have to check it out!!!!
Amazing gym, coach, & team. Everyone is extremely welcoming.
This gym won’t help you physically but mentally, I am beyond happy that I’ve joined this team to learn a new martial art and to fulfill the goals I have made during this process wether you have never done anything or experienced this is the gym for you and professor Joe is an amazing teacher and takes his time to make sure you are learning in a safe environment.
I was scared to try Jiu Jitsu at first but after my friend made me come in and try a class I was hooked. The people at the gym our great. The coaching is great and the teaching style makes it very easy to learn and improve. The people you train with and coaches here provide a safe environment where learning is the top priority. The academy also provides many great classes besides gi and no gi jiu jitsu as well like striking, yoga, and strength training classes. Great gym.
The best gym in New York we are 7 year strong NAGA winners amazing community here everyone helps eachother out and Professor Edward Anthony is a great man who created the scissor hand choke
You wanna learn jiu jitsu? well you WILL learn it here. Super awesome coach and instructor that goes over each step and WILL work with you. You will also learn lots of other things too, like take-downs and throws. Theres even a conditioning class and yoga here as well, along with kids classes. BUT if you want to learn jiu jitsu, come here. cause you will learn it. I give you my word.
Greatest place I’ve ever been, with the greatest group of people!! Awesome coach with awesome classes, highly recommended!!
I highly recommend Atlas Jiu Jitsu. Great instruction and training in a nurturing environment. It is a wonderful place to get exercise and conditioning while learning a fun and valuable skill. The Glens Falls location is large and clean. Joseph Zakriski is an extremely knowledgeable instructor who teaches jiu jitsu in a friendly, safe environment that is bully free.
My 6 year old son has been working with Coach Joe in the Tiny Titans program for a couple of months. We had been looking for a place for him to train for a while and we have not been disappointed at all with our choice to go with Atlas. They are so good with him, and everyone who is in the gym is so helpful, respectful and encouraging. My son has learned so much in a short time and has gained so much confidence in himself. Kindergarten was sort of rough for him as far as focus was concerned. He was having some impulse control issues and would frequently get notes sent home. We are almost a month into first grade and he has not only not had a "red" day, he has been rewarded in class for stellar behavior. I largely attribute this to how much focus and discipline is required of him in his BJJ class. He has really come a long way already. He asks me EVERY DAY if he gets to go to jiujitsu today, he always looks forward to his next class (3 days a week). We have 7m old twins that will eventually join the Atlas family as well, and I am sure that they will find a home there just as our oldest has. Thank you, Coach!
Atlas is a fantastic, well-rounded gym. It's a great place for anyone who'd like to get fit, learn how to protect themselves, or train in martial arts. The classes encompass self defense, jiu-jitsu, judo, cardio kickboxing--MMA and krav maga--and MMA striking, with both boxing and kickboxing components. Along with technique training, classes include jiu-jitsu rolling and MMA sparring. The trainer, Joe, is professional and really takes time to personalize training for each student, optimizing each person's time at the academy. He's an accomplished practitioner in his own right, and fully uses his talent, drive, and passion to train his students. The environment is so welcoming and not intimidating in the slightest. Beyond the extremely high caliper instruction available at Atlas, the atmosphere sets the gym apart from other MMA and BJJ academies. I joined as a complete novice to martial arts and, of course, as a female, but never felt left behind, threatened, or incompetent. My confidence has improved dramatically, as had my ability to defend myself, my physical fitness and mental well-being. Nothing helps manage stress quite like nailing a combination or submission. I can't recommend Atlas enough. Try it for yourself to see just how much you can gain from this academy!
This is a great gym with excellent coaches- all of the instructors are very professional and willing to be patient with you regardless of your experience level. Everyone is supportive, the training is done as a team, and it is very organized. I really like how they take the time to work with everyone, the staff truly cares about making all of the students better.
This is the martial arts academy that you want to call home. Everybody is there to make themselves better and support each other like a family. I feel very comfortable in this academy and the instruction is top of the line. Whether you want to learn self defense, compete in martial arts or just get active and in better shape I assure you this is the place to come.
Great people with infinite knowledge, a positive kid friendly atmosphere, and a clean facility. It's a great place to workout/train, whether you're a combat/fitness nut or just looking to start and try something new. Stop by and check them out!
Amazing classes and always a great time one of the very best things I've ever done is join this team amazing way to build confidence and self esteem lose weight and learn to defend yourself at the same time the instructors are very understanding and knowledgeable and there to help you the HHH class is an amazing workout with cardio and physical the Striking instructor is very knowledgeable and willing to work with everyone the jiu-jitsu instructor is the best within 30 miles very patient man and excellent with children
Best MMA gym in the area by far. Great staff and definitely worth it.
Amazing atmosphere to learn and grow in I knew I was home the moment I stepped onto the mats great instructors great partners to train with anyone interested in Jiu jitsu or MMA this is where you wanna be
Definitely a place to go listen Brazilian jiu jitsu and mma, great place to meet different people with different backgrounds. And an amazing instructor.
The experience amongst the instructors are like none other in this region.

Awesome place! Great people, great workout.I have trained with the trainer a couple of years and he is a great guy and everyone is welcome and as far as training gose everyone helps each other out to help everyone do there best!
This place is THE place to train if you wanna get into martial arts. Great instructors, great family, everyone that walks through the doors are treated as a brother (or sister!). I cannot stress enough the friendly atmosphere in this place, most of us have been friends since childhood. Joesph Zakriski is easily one of thee most inspirational humans I've ever had the opportunity to train with. He's a great teacher and really shows his passion when teaching on the mats. He alone could sway anyone to give it a try with his attitude. All around great place and only getting better! COME DOWN AND SAY HI TO US! WE DONT BITE!
My experience has been great! A lot of enthusiastic people who train to get better and to learn more about the art of mma.
