This is the best BJJ school in the area. Coach Randy and Laura are a husband and wife black belt team. They and their teaching staff are talented and are great at explaining the sport to students. They offer an array of classes with something for all ages or skill levels. Their kids classes are amazing, they really take the time to teach the kids. Randy and Laura are very patient. It’s a legit martial art school so they build discipline as well as technique. The teaching staff is homegrown so they do recognize and develop talent. All the instructors are excellent at what they do. They are very patient, friendly, and welcoming. The facility is very clean, they recently did renovations, so they have new clean mats to train on, cleanliness is something they take very seriously. All in all I can’t recommend this place enough. Whether your new in town, new to the sport, or looking to get back into the sport after a break, you need to give this place a shot.

Excellent place to train - one of the most warm and friendly BJJ gyms I have been to, plus Randy and Laura are great teachers, and everything is clean and safe. I have visited a few times from out of town and highly recommend.

I’ve been training at Ataraxis BJJ since I moved to the area almost 2 years ago. Randy and Laura have created an awesome environment and really care about their students. Whether you’re looking to compete, learn self defense, or simply have fun & stay in shape you’ll find it all at Ataraxis. They recently started offering Muay Thai classes too which has been an awesome addition to the grappling training.

I cannot recommend Ataraxis highly enough. I’m 44 years old and new to jujitsu. I was a bit intimated when I first started having never done jujitsu before. The nerves quickly dissipated as the coaches and members made me feel extremely welcome. The owners Randy and Laura have built a phenomenal community of people. I now try to attend class everyday not only for the great coaching but to interact with the people who I have met. I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars.

This place is by far the best kept secret in the area! Both of my kids trained with Randy and Laura, and they did such an absolutely incredible job coaching them that I had to sign up myself! I have been training for 5 months, lost 20 lbs without even trying, and have learned so much about self defense and competitive BJJ. On top of all that, I’m forming some unique, awesome friendships. Try it out, test your limits, get healthy, and learn the art of folding clothes while people are still in them!

Phenomenal atmosphere with a great group of guys. The instructor is fantastic with a massive amount of knowledge while being extremely technical. Overall, fantastic place to learn martial arts. Stop reading reviews and go in!

My son has been going to Ataraxis for over a year, and my daughter joined not too long after. A great place for them to learn, work hard, and be a part of a wonderful community. Owners Coach Randy and Coach Laura, as well as the rest of the instructors are great. I couldn't ask for better people to teach my children self-defense and safety.

I love dropping into this gym on a Friday night when I close at work and can't make it to my home gym in a timely fashion. The head instructor, Randy, is extremely knowledgeable and I thoroughly enjoy how informal (in a good way) he structures his classes. I would highly recommend training here for anyone living in or close to Ambler!

We love Ataraxis! My kid loves Coach Laura and Coach Randy. They are tough but fair. They make the kids work hard and my kid is sweaty and tired by the end of the class but really enjoys it and wants to go back everyday.

Awesome place to train, the coaching staff is fantastic wether learning self-defense or looking for a fun new sport to participate in. Head coach Randy, coach Laura and their coaching staff have built a really positive environment to learn and grow. Not a day goes by that I don't leave with a new nugget of knowledge or had a good chuckle. I came for the jujitsu but stayed for the quality of the people I get train and learn from.

We did a lot of research choosing both what type of martial art would be best suited for our kids, as well as on the gyms that offered Jiu-jitsu. We landed on Ataraxis, and couldn't be more pleased. My tentative daughter has learned to be brave and assert herself, and my active son has learned to focus his energy. Both are learning grit and determination in ways they wouldn't otherwise. Ataraxis makes you feel like family, and teachers you lifelong skills. 10 stars!

Great local BJJ studio, with instructors who genuinely care about individual student’s skill development in any and all areas of the sport. No matter what you want to gain from BJJ— Randy and his staff can help you out. The vibes at the studio are much more relaxed than other places, so even if your totally new to BJJ don’t be afraid to stop by for a class!!!

I’ve trained at 3 academy’s due to moving and Ataraxis is an amazing school with very knowledgeable instructors. Egos are checked at the door and everyone is there to train hard and have fun doing it. If you’re looking for self defense, sport, or just an amazing workout then Ataraxis is it. It’s for all ages.

Starting Ataraxis Jui-Jitsu helped me to lose 15lbs in 3 months. This is a great facility with even better coaches. Randy and Laura really care about their student's progression and are very passionate about sharing their knowledge. Coach Randy and Laura have created a fantastic atmosphere at Atraxis with top notch training in a stress-free environment. Whether you are looking to compete, learn self defense or just get in better shape, there is something for everyone at this school. I especially appreciate the cleanliness of the school/mats. As a father of two young children (5 yo) who also train at Ataraxis, both coaches do a great job of introducing the fundamentals of jiu jitsu/self defense/discipline while always keeping it fun for the kids. I recommend Ataraxis and Coach Randy and Coach Laura without reservation.

I finally got a chance to check out Ataraxis Jiu-Jitsu and I highly reccomend it. The school is clean, organized and the staff (Laura and Randy) are extremely knowledgeable, patient and respectful. Personally, I have known and trained under and along side Randy for nearly a decade. I can say that I have learned a great deal from Randy both on and off the mat. His meticulous attention to detail and knowledge of Jiu-Jitsu is evident in his instruction. I have watched Randy win various tournaments including Naga to IBJJF, as well as coaching students to win gold in those very same tournaments. Randy and Laura's passion for Jiu-Jitsu and knowledge of both, the street and the sport aspects of Jiu-Jitsu, make them excellent ambassadors of the art. I have known and trained with Randy for years. I can honestly say that one of his best qualities is he won't let you give up on yourself, he is down to earth and outgoing.At the same time he is an outstanding instructor of jiu jitsu and can break down moves to the most basic level without skipping even the smallest detail. I can say from experience that training with Randy helped get me through some of my hardest times. When you train with Randy you will not only be gaining an instructor but also a great friend.

Randy's style and approach to teaching jiujitsu is very cerebral. His grasp of the core concepts and use of leverage allows him to share techniques that work and are effective for everyone, independent of age, strength, speed, or other attributes. I am 44 years old and have been training jujitsu for almost 20years and these guys have it down ... the place was very clean the classes were organized and professional and most important when we started to live train everyone was respectful and tough ... and the thing that I liked the most was the training was safe !!! I have been training Randy for 10 plus years . Randy was an exceptional student and became an outstanding instructor . Randy follows all the Balance principals. His teachings are approved by the Migliarese Brothers and myself . If anyone is in the ambler area please go in and introduce yourself . I’ve been training with Randy since February of this year. His classes are always fun and challenging. If you’re a beginner he’s excellent at approaching things with a “ beginners mind”. He also has plenty to challenge more advanced students. My 12 year old daughter recently started training at Ataraxis as well. She has taken both the beginner class with Randy and the “women’s only” classes with Laura and has had a lot of fun. One definite positive note is how Randy prides himself in how clean his facility is. Wether your looking to have fun with the sport of ju jitsu, want to get in shape, or learn how to defend yourself they have a lot to offer.
