I take Taekwondo, Jiu Jitsu, and Sparring classes. This place is amazing and very welcoming! I have been going here for a few years and have met so many friends. As an adult, it can sometimes be hard to make new friends who have share the same interests. The vibe in class is the best; like we motivate eachother to keep going but at the same time can be real with eachother sharing our struggles. As a woman, its hard to find a place that we feel safe enough to be aggressive yet vulnerable....if that makes sense. :) Myself and and my kids train here so I definitely recommend!

This is the second Dojo we tried for our son. He is slightly on the Autistic Spectrum. At the first dojo he was yelled at until he cried because he could not maintain eye contact for more than a few seconds or remain at attention all class. Here Ma'am Kellie and all of her black belt level assistants are beyond patient, kind and knowledgeable. From the moment the kids walk in to AMA they are met with encouragement and greetings from all the teachers. AMA has not only met any expectations I could have, but far surpassed them. Ascension Martial Arts as a whole are the best teachers and cheerleaders you could ask for your child. Not only do they teach Taekwondo, they teach respect, patience, helping those in your group and understanding how others may feel. I can not say enough good things about AMA.

We couldn’t be more pleased with our experience joining AMA! We enrolled our children (9yr and 11yr old) recently and they are really enjoying the classes. The structure of each lesson is a good mix of light calisthenics, coordination and flexibility training. There are multiple instructors in each session that provide the kids singular instruction when needed as they monitor the class. They also do a fantastic job of emphasizing focus, discipline and of course fun! Especially master instructor Kellie, who made us feel very welcome starting from our first visit!

Great place to train and grow as a martial artist even if you are a beginner or returning to the art. We have been training here for over 2 years now and it has become a family affair. My thirteen years old son, who recently tested for his 2nd degree, has been studying under AMA instructors for six years now. Not only the AMA instructors have trained him on important martial arts skillsets they have instilled in him self-confidence, responsibilities, respect for others and provided opportunities for him to develop his leadership. Our family enjoy learning taekwondo and BJJ at AMA. Master Youn and the instructors are knowledgeable and work with the students at their appropriate level. I’m 66 years old and retired. After I got my Covid vaccination and was able to get out and about, I realized I had lost the spring in my step and was shuffling around like an old man. I decided that I didn’t want to spend my retirement in that condition, so I signed up for a 1-month trial membership at Ascension Martial Arts. In four short weeks I was feeling more limber, more alert, more balanced and stable, and I was again walking easily and confidently—more like my younger self. All the staff (and students) understand that I’m older and don’t share their range of motion. They adjust accordingly and help me work within my limits. I’ve completed my trial and signed up for full membership because I am where I need to be. I know that I cannot stop the aging process, but I can certainly slow its effects and feel awesome as I do. I highly recommend Ascension Martial Arts to anyone of any age. I’ve observed how the teachers work with children, teens and adults, and we are all receiving excellent training.

Our daughter decided she wanted to try taekwondo. After talking with Master Youn on the phone he invited her to a private lesson to see if taekwondo and AMA would be a good fit. Great experience to get a 1x1 lesson scheduled and classes started soon after. Originally, it was just my son taking classes, but he convinced his sister to join also. Both kids have felt welcomed and encouraged since day one. In addition to working on skills, each lesson incorporates messages about doing your best, respecting yourself and each other. We feel safe participating with the precautions they’re taking for Covid-19, and it’s evident that all instructors care about the well being of their students. Highly recommend!

You have to come check out Ascension Martial Arts. I decided to join AMA with my daughter about a year and a half ago. She was 6 and I was turning 43. I wanted to be more disciplined, add something different to my workout routine, challenge myself, and experience a journey with my daughter. I wanted her to gain confidence, be more disciplined, learn self defense, earn something, and set and meet goals. Joining a martial arts studio can seem intimidating, but not at AMA. Prior to trying AMA, I had only taken cardio kickboxing classes, which I loved. I really wanted to take a Martial Arts class, but thought I'd make a total fool of myself. Master Youn changed that. Starting something new as an adult can be very intimidating, but from the moment I walked into Ascension I knew I was somewhere special. Master Youn and Ma’am Kellie are incredibly knowledgeable and extremely talented. The atmosphere is friendly and open, as well as respectful. All the members I’ve had contact with are not only willing and able, but enthusiastic to share their knowledge and work with inexperienced new students. Whether you’re looking for a place for your child or yourself, you’d be hard pressed to find a better place than AMA.

I signed my 6 year old son up for the Little Dragons class in November of 2018. I originally heard about Acsension Martial Arts at the Oak Creek health fair in the fall of 2017. I was interested but wasn't sure if my son would be ready as he was just turning 5 years old. Fast forward a year later and I started looking into extra curricular activities for him because he is extremely active with A LOT of energy. I started reading reviews about Ascension Martial Arts as well as hearing wonderful things about it for both children and adults. We started out with a 3 class trial session for $25 to see if he would be a good fit for the Little Dragons class. They do this so that your child can meet the instructor and the instructor can get to know your child on a personal level. I think it is awesome that they do this because 6 months is a big and long commitment. We signed up for 6 months of classes that are held for 30 minutes twice a week. After just a couple of months I saw significant, positive changes in my son. Saying please and thank you, much more respect for myself, my husband and other people in general, especially adults! He tested and was rewarded by getting his high white belt before his 1st six months were over. I continue to see positive changes on a regular basis and couldn't be happier with the wonderful work Master Youn and Ma'am Kelly do with these kids!! Ma'am Kelly gets down on your child's level, speaks to them and relates to them as children and knows the children as individuals! When the children may be having an off day or have an excess amount of energy they adjust the class to the kids not the other way around. We are always welcomed by name when we arrive. This is truly a family friendly experience and environment. We just signed up for a 2nd 6 months of classes and I am extremely excited to continue to see positive changes in my son! They also have activities like parents night out for nominal fees. The last one was "nerf night". Ma'am Kelly plays with the kids while you go out for some adult time. My son is excited for the next one!! I wouldn't blink an eye at leaving him there as I know my child is in the awesome care of Ma'am Kelly. They also have an event called "coaches corner". This is an evening to spend with your child at the facility were you can do sparing and other activities using the facility equipment to have some fun with your child. We couldn't make the last one but absolutely won't miss the next one! I am also considering signing up for an adult class for myself. My only regret is that I didn't sign him up a year earlier. Thank you Master Youn and Ma'am Kelly for the wonderful work you do with these kids!!

My 4 year old has been attending the Little Dragons program for 4-5 months and absolutely loves it! The instructor (ma'am kellie) is absolutely amazing. She has fun with the kids while teaching them to practise discipline, self control, and the basic taekwondo techniques. Two thumbs up!

Master Youn is a very caring helpful . He makes time to talk about anything. He is honest and very respectful and personable. Ma'am Kelly is loved by everyone in class no matter the age class. They take there time in developing your children not only in the marital arts but in respecting there parents and family members friend and whom ever they come in contact with. Which means a lot to us. My son has been here since he was 7yrs old he is now 11 and just completed his black belt.. best decision I have ever made for him. Thank you ascension. For everything..

My 6 year old son has been with AMA since March 2018. Not only does he love the class, his teachers, and his classmates but so do I! Master Youn, Ma'am Kelly and the other staff are very welcoming, kind, and make you feel like part of their family. They also do field trips, theme weeks, movie nights, and more! AMA also gives you the option to have your child's birthday party with them! I have also noticed a change in my son's attitude and how he views certain aspects of life. Bottom line...I couldn't have chosen a better or more caring school for my son. Go with AMA!!

My son has been studying with Master Youn and his team for 3 years. Martial Arts had not previously been a part of our family so when we decided to sign him up, we were not sure what to expect. We wanted to get him involved with something new, have some fun, be active, and learn some lessons that he can take with him for the rest of his life. More importantly, that he achieve all of this while being safe. A friend recommended that we meet Master Youn and Ma'am Kellie. We could not be more pleased with our decision to train and learn with AMA. We have met people, made friends, and formed a bond with AMA that I'm certain will last a long time. My son enjoys his classes and that enjoyment has inspired my wife to actually train with AMA as well. If you are interested in signing up for martial arts, Ascension Martial Arts should be at the top of your list. You won't find a gym, you will find a home.

AMA is not just a school, it is a family. Everyone in the school, no matter what age or what level, treats everyone else like family. The teaching is also very thorough, challenging people to push themselves beyond what they think they can do. They are accepting of different fitness and ability levels. Overall it is not just about moving up in belts, it is about learning respect, integrity, dedication, and discipline. It is also so much fun!

My daughter has been taking classes with AMA since last summer. She recently earned her yellow belt! Looking for a great way to get back in shape, i joined adult classes just a few weeks ago. My muscles are aching in a good way and my brain gets a work out learning and practicing new skills too. I’m also loving sharing the experience with my daughter, who is one of five kids. It’s nice watching her come out of her shell and take ownership of something. We are loving this school so far and anticipate sticking with it for years to come!

This is where I began my search for a martial arts school for my girls - soon after it would become mine too. The first school called me 2 weeks after I already enrolled - the second school would not give me full details until I tried them - a mistake because now my kids wanted to join but had no clue of the financial obligations. At last I called Master Youn. He not only gave me every detail but offered a custom trial. While not free, it was low enough for me to take the risk. At this point my guard was up and I looked at reviews like this one and the website to find one fault. The more I looked the more I liked. Specifically Ma'am Kellie's involvement as program director and a standing 4th degree black belt!!! This was awesome considering my girls would immediately relate to a successful woman and not find themselves without a role model (as it relates to this journey). Lastly I stayed for a class where a parent was stuck answering my questions. I was intrigued to find out that not only did both of his kids enjoy the program but had exceeded with excellence. A key point because kids tend to get disengaged quickly. The cherry on top was the reality that an adult like myself could not only join but become part of a community - one that I would quickly call my own!

My eight year old son has been training at Ascension Martial Arts in Oak Creek for two years, and he still looks forward to going to every class. The progression of the belts allows him to constantly learn something new so he is always being challenged and never bored. Master Youn and the other instructors know how to make class fun and interesting while still teaching respect and discipline. My son is currently a red belt, and I have no doubt that with the knowledge and encouragement of the staff, he will stick with it and reach his goal of earning his black belt and more. My husband and I joined the adult class a year ago, and we love it. AMA is more than a school, it's a family. Everyone is very welcoming and supportive. We hope to continue to train as a family at AMA for many years to come.

My daughter (12), and 2 boys (8 & 10) have been attending classes with the Ascension staff for over 5 years. They have become like family for us and have been instrumental in teaching my children respect for martial arts and for each other as people. The pride of earning each stripe and each belt is carried into their daily lives and how they participate in school and at home. They are learning life skills in addition to the art of taekwondo. Belts are truly “earned, not given.” They are not just experts in the art of Taekwondo; they are earnest teachers and mentors. Great school for children and adults trying to get fit or earn their black belt. Our son started training with Master Youn and Ma'am Kelly at the age of 5 and he is now 16. He has wonderful TKD skills but more importantly he has a sense of pride and he has learned respect as a result of his time at with them. Our entire family participates together now and we have a lot of fun doing so. AMA is like a 2nd family for us. Would recommend AMA to anyone.
