I dropped in to Artemis as I was working away from my home gym. The head coach and regulars couldn’t have been more accommodating. The gym is a bit tucked away but the directions on the website are clear and precise and take you straight to the huge mat space. Will definitely visit again!

Great club with a friendly atmosphere, it’s very clear the people who train here love jiu-jitsu and create a great training environment. Can demonstrates and explains techniques well explaining the why’s rather than must getting you to copy the moves. Lots of mat space, great instruction and a general good vibe at the gym. Would train there if I lived in Bristol. I attended a jiu-jitsu camp not a regular class but the head instructor Can taught at this class.

I have known the head instructor Can Sonmez for many years and can testify to his excellent credentials as an instructor and club runner. I have visited on numerous occasions the MyGym, Dean Street location where he teaches. The main ground floor space is very large and there is also a more intimate smaller room upstairs. Surrounding the perimeter of the training floor are the exercise machines and free weights. My understanding is you can join Artemis BJJ club without necessarily joining the exercise gym itself, but it’s probably a good idea to enjoy all the facilities (as many members seem to do). Can himself is an excellent teacher who places much emphasis on ensuring the precise and technical details of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu technique are taught in an easy to understand manner. A teacher should be measured by the quality of their students – I have also met and trained with a large number of Artemis students and they all exhibit great technique, a passion for the sport and keenness for learning. It is also worth noting that Can’s program to encourage more women to take part in BJJ has been very positive, in many cases, there are as many women training as there are men – which is quite rare among most co-ed BJJ schools here in the UK and in my opinion, a good indicator of a healthy training environment.

I went in to do a no Gi-class and I had an absolute blast. Learn some techniques and did a bit of rolling after. Every partner i had was of amicable character and I'll defo be heading back tomorrow for another no-gi class. The gym location is a little hidden. There is a artemis bjj sign on the door, which is located next to green aj fitness headboard.

Great place to train, fantastic teachers and a friendly environment. Would recommend to anyone looking to start training in BJJ. 2 locations as well as a massive timetable give you the flexibility to train around a busy lifestyle.
