My son and I have been going to Apex for a while now, and I have nothing but positive things to say. The coaching staff are all incredible; the perfect mix of patient and tough with the kids, and accessible yet detailed with the adults. My son has been attending classes here since he was 4 years old, and it has become a big part of our lives as he continues to go. If you have children and are looking for well structured classes with great coaches, this is the place. And if you are an adult looking to start learning or advance the knowledge you already have, you'll find great instructors and awesome members to help you along your journey.

We have been apart of the Apex family for about 4 years. It's a great place beginner, novice, intermediate, advanced, and even pro. No egos, but structure, great leadership, and a gym full of passionate coaches. Thankful that my children have a talented group of other young kids and teens to be able to work with. This gym encourages everyone to strive and be the best you can be. Thank you Apex for providing such a standup platform.

I have been training jiu jitsu at Apex Submission Grappling for over two years now and it has been an amazing experience! Everyone there from the staff to the members are incredible and welcoming. The coaching has been impeccable, both during instructional teaching as well as on the sidelines at competitions. Most importantly, the level of expertise among the coaches I haven't found anywhere else.

Been here for a while and have to say the coaches are the best! They offer great wrestling, jiujitsu, and boxing classes with a good atmosphere. The fundamentals they teach in the jiujitsu and wrestling classes are a great opportunity for beginners and experienced people to learn.

I’ve been going to this gym for 4 years now and I can’t say enough how much this gym is honestly the best. I have been to many gyms before finding this one and it is unmatched. The expertise in striking, grappling, MMA is top tear. What really sets them apart, though, is their ability to tailor each session to the individual. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced fighter, they will meet you at your level and push you to improve every single day.

You’re going to be hard pressed within Northern Virginia to find a place that has as many offerings (Wrestling, BJJ, Boxing/Kickboxing) along with ELITE instruction in all areas, for kids and adults. I highly recommend this place, whether you’re seasoned in some martial art already or just getting started with your journey.

I can't recommend this gym enough! It’s a fantastic place for both kids and adults looking to improve themselves physically and mentally through mixed martial arts. The trainers focus on building discipline, respect, and resilience, making it a great environment for personal growth. For kids, it’s not just about learning how to defend themselves but also about developing confidence, focus, and teamwork. For adults, the gym offers a space to push past limits, build strength, and learn new skills while also instilling the importance of perseverance and self-discipline. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced fighter, this gym fosters a supportive atmosphere where everyone can reach their full potential. The sense of community here is truly special!

I have been training at Apex since 2021. The grappling style is modern, effective and constantly evolving and the competition success is testament to that. The instructors know what they are doing and how to teach and they will work with you to help you develop your game. The general atmosphere is friendly and welcoming without all the ego and ‘cult of personality’ you find at many gyms.

Real world applicable techniques that are constantly evolving, and being taught by an actively competing coach staff. Proving the effectiveness as opposed to a typical out dated hypothetical systems.

I’ve had the privilege of training under Apex Submission Grappling and Wrestling for the past three years, and I can confidently say it is the best academy in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area. Apex stands out for its unmatched dedication to technical excellence, a welcoming and inclusive environment, and a culture that fosters growth at every level. The coaching staff is exceptional. Their ability to break down complex techniques into practical, effective steps is unparalleled. Whether you’re a beginner building a strong foundation or an advanced practitioner refining your game, their tailored instruction ensures continuous improvement. The integration of elite-level wrestling into their grappling system sets them apart from other academies in the region, giving students a significant edge on and off the mats. The training atmosphere at Apex is second to none. It strikes the perfect balance between being competitive and supportive, allowing students to push themselves while feeling genuinely encouraged by their peers and coaches. The emphasis on fundamentals, alongside cutting-edge techniques, equips students to excel in all aspects of submission grappling and wrestling. What truly makes Apex the best in the DMV is its sense of community. The camaraderie among students and the unwavering support from the coaching staff create an environment that is inspiring, motivating, and fun. If you’re serious about improving your skills, challenging yourself, and joining an academy that leads the DMV in submission grappling and wrestling, Apex Submission Grappling and Wrestling is the place to be. It’s not just a gym—it’s a home for grapplers looking to reach their full potential.

Practical wrestling and jujitsu to accommodate goals of fitness, competition and self-defense (stand up and ground grappling). The coaches and people care. I am a retired Marine and enjoy the no-nonsense approach. No egos here, everyone is here to support each other. Many times, younger competitive athletes here enthusiastically take their time to ensure others less skilled feel comfortable and are given the opportunity to grow. The way they train and develop children and young adults is also impressive - installing values to be good people. All are welcome here independent of sex, skill level... Please come see for yourself and join the community.
