My daughter attends classes here. The classes focus on self defense. Jimmy is fantastic with the students. He knows all their names, he is connected, and he is very encouraging to the students. His discipline, keeping class on track and students focused, is very positive. I'm not taking class, just watching my daughter, and I often leave the gym feeling more positive, and all the kiddos come out smiling. I highly recommend this gym.

I’ve Been to many different jiujitsu gyms, and none like Gracie university here in Las Vegas. I’ve Been training here since April 2022, and I have to say, this is the place to learn self defense through the combative class. Instructor Jimmy is highly knowledgeable on the art from his 30 years of experience with the Gracie family. The advance class is taught with more technical jiujitsu moves, and opens up the art even more. Jimmy does a fantastic job in teaching this class for all who want to take their jiujitsu to the next level. This is a place good for the family, learning self defense from kids to adults. Controlled environment which makes it fun and safe. I highly recommend this jiujitsu academy to EVERYONE!
This is truly an amazing jiu jitsu academy. I've been practicing for 3+ years and had just gotten promoted to purple. Over the course of my time on the mats I haven't been successful at getting family and friends to tag along and try a class, until I found the perfect excuse - my wedding!! I reached out to Jimmy as I was having my wedding in Las Vegas and was looking for an academy that would be willing to host a private seminar focused on self defense for my wedding guests. Jimmy was recommended to me by a mutual acquaintance. Jimmy graciously offered to host us for the seminar and also added on a 1-hour private for a very reasonable price. The seminar was wonderfully received. As an instructor Jimmy was very precise, extremely helpful and made sure everyone had a lot of fun while learning real life practical self defense skills. He gave a lot of situations to illustrate the applicability of Jiu Jitsu in the real world (with striking and all). Jimmy also had one of his students (Caylee) walk around the mats and make sure everyone was catching up with the techniques and answered any question we had. Overall could not have asked for a better experience and was the best way possible for me to work some of my nerves out the morning of my wedding day!!
I’ve been coming to GU for a year and a half and I’ve learned so much under Jimmy. Everyone there is like family and we help each other to get the most out of each lesson. I highly recommend anyone interested in Jiu-Jitsu to try this place out and experience the genius of Jimmy.

Nice dojo, great coach James, we are living in Bay Area and on vacation in Vegas for a week, and my 2 kids have Charles Gracie tournament in 10 days, so we are looking for a place to warm up. This dojo’s mat is beyond perfect. And master james is so amazing, super calm with perfect technics, I am learning a lot from him(I am blue belt). If you have kids and living in Vegas, you have to send your kids here to try!!!!

Safety and self defense is highly prized here. This gym is very welcoming and family oriented. The instructor James is awesome he really makes sure you understand the moves and why we do them. The style is practical and can definitely work in the Street.

I was visiting Las Vegas, and did a drop in class. I was very impressed with the school (great mat space, clean lockers, great vibe) and very impressed by the black belt instructor, James. His instruction was top notch, clear, concise, and consistent with the Gracie way of teaching. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, as well as meeting two excellent students that I got to practice technique with. I only wished I lived here so I could attend this school!

One of the best things to have come from 2020 for me was finding Gracie University Las Vegas. I’ve always wanted to learn self-defense through Jiu Jitsu and it has been a blessing to have met Jimi and Jen who are the owners/instructors of the school. Jimi has almost 30 years of training in Gracie Jiu Jitsu and is so passionate about the art and is very thorough in breaking down the different techniques. Jen is so kind, sweet and welcoming. I highly recommend the school for anyone who is wanting to learn self-defense. There are many different classes/programs offered such as Combatives, Bullyproof for kids, Master Cycle and Women Empowered.
James is one of the most passionate person teaching Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Everyone there is motivating and hospitable I highly recommend to come try out here.
I am from out of town, but I was recently able to drop in at Gracie University Las Vegas for a whole month to train. From the moment I walked in the door I was treated like family. Everyone was respectful and focused on getting better together as a unit. Professor Clark is a black belt under Rener Gracie so I expect good instruction, but my expectations were drastically exceeded (he’s been doing BJJ for nearly 30 years). He is a next-level caliber instructor. I can’t wait to take some of the things I learned back to my home gym to my training partners! Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned veteran of the art, this gym has something for you.
Great program for kids. Age groups are appropriate and group size is optimal. The instructors really have a passion for what they do and are extremely friendly and professional. We have noticed positive changes in both our kids. Gracie University does not only offer physical training but also teaches kindness and examples of positive behavior based only Respect, Health, Citizenship and more. This is really an incredible program!
This is the type of school and training environment that I had been looking for . . . . for a very, very long time. It is a school in the real sense of the word - there’s a curriculum, there’s a class schedule, and there is consistency in how each lesson is taught. The lesson is broken down into “slices” (so that it is easily digestible) and it is always taught the same way no matter how many times it is taught and no matter who teaches it. The emphasis is placed on mastering the basics and everything that you learn (from your very first class forward) is taught with the expectation that you have absolutely no experience in any of the fighting arts and is taught with the mindset that you might have to apply it in an actual altercation later that night. The instructors don’t just “do” Jiu-Jitsu . . . . they live and breathe Jiu-Jitsu and they love sharing their knowledge. If you want to learn Jiu-Jitsu for tournaments, there is nothing wrong with that but don’t come here - you’d be wasting your time. We are the only Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school in Las Vegas that focuses exclusively on self-defense . . . . . street tested self-defense. We learn Gracie Jiu-Jitsu as it was intended to be taught and in the way that it was envisioned by the creator of the art form himself, Grandmaster Helio Gracie. Our sole focus is self-defense . . . . reality-based self-defense. If it wouldn’t work against a real opponent in the street whose intention is to do you harm, then it is not taught ! I have trained numerous times at the Gracie University Headquarters in Torrance, California with Ryron and Rener Gracie. The training has been fantastic and I am so happy to be training with my new Gracie Jiu Jitsu Family right here in Vegas. Gracie University has classes for everyone. Combatives for Street Ready Self-Defense, Gracie Bully Proof for Children, and soon Women Empowered classes. Women Empowered classes will teach you how to neutralize the 20 most common attacks in 15 different lessons. Absolutely an amazing Self Defense Jiu-Jitsu experience. I love everything from the BIG beautiful green mat to the instruction from Jimmy and Adam and everyone in between. Its really an exceptional self defense martial arts school. The curriculum is awesome, it’s like a road map to your next belt level....from Blue to Black Belt starting with Gracie Combatives which is SUPER Dope...36 techniques to “street readiness”, than Master Cycle for Blue Belt and above. They also have kids classes, “Gracie Bully Proof”. Ohhhh and the “slices” that they break down each technique into is exactly how Ryron & Rener teach on the videos. I’ve been following the Gracie Breakdowns for at least 2-3 years now, it’s nice to know that I can get the exact same self defense training that Ive watched so many times.

I haven't done martial arts since I was a kid, and I do not have very fond memories of it. Coming into Gracie, I was unsure if it would be a good fit. But after the first class, I was excited to come back and learn more. Everyone has been so welcome, friendly and encouraging. They were very adamant that if I decided it wasn't for me, there was no pressure to join. And having the contract be month to month was perfect for me and my job. I was eager to start my 10 day trial - I signed up right after my intro class - and have learned so much in a short period of time. I'm also very excited to learn more self defense in the Women Empowered class. I highly recommend coming out and giving it a try. Even on days when I'm the only woman in the class, everyone gives me high fives and slaps me on the back. I feel like part of the team. And seeing the kids class is heart-warming; it really is a family environment. I'm happy I decided to stop by.
