I’ve been training at American Top Team Wellington for close to 5 months, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the quality of instruction and the community. The coach Shark is top-notch—highly knowledgeable, approachable, and dedicated to helping each student improve, no matter their skill level. The facility is clean, well-maintained, and has all the equipment you need for both beginner and advanced training.
What really sets ATT Wellington apart is the supportive atmosphere. Everyone, from the coaches to the fellow students, makes you feel like part of a team. The lessons are structured in a way that makes complex techniques easier to understand, and there’s always a good mix of drilling, live rolling, and strategy.

I’ve been Shark’s student since I was 10 years old. He helped me succeed in both judo and jiujitsu, and earn my black belt. I now have a family of my own, and I wanted my oldest son’s experience to be with Shark. Our family drove over 4 hours to the gym from our home. Michelle was also super helpful in guiding me to make my son comfortable on the mat. The other kids were very welcoming to my sons. What a great experience it was for everyone. I’m in my early 30s now, and everywhere Shark has taught I’ve always felt like the team became family.
I have been training at American Top Team in Wellington Florida for 12 years and my wife has been training there for about 5. Coach Shark is an exceptional instructor. His understanding of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is second to none. Coach Shark teaches to all levels of students, the competition team and the recreational practitioners. As a 52 year old man, I can not move like the 20 year olds and Coach Shark recognizes this and has the knowledge to know how to teach it to both sets of students. American Top Team Wellington is also a family environment. There are numerous husband and wife teams that train with us and most of us bring our children as well. Coach Shark's teaching methods produce a controlled environment which enables a fun learning experience, for the adults as well as the children.

The classes are great and thorough. Sensei Shark is knowledgeable, kind, and disciplined driven. He and all the higher belts have built a space for growth and development for all the students of all levels from entry and beyond.
I have been training at American Top Team Wellington for a few months now, and it's been an amazing experience. Coach Shark is a fantastic instructor and thoughtful teacher who is a master at this art/sport. Everyone is awesome and helpful. It's a big family environment where everyone grows and learns from each other. When I started my training I voiced my concerns about a neck injury I have and he and the whole team have taken the upmost care in my training. Trust me when I tell you, the experience has been challenging, addicting, and very fun. I look forward to continuing my BJJ journey at ATT.

Incredible Gym! If you want to learn sport Jiu Jitsu, this is the place for you. Incredibly structured classes, 30/30 Techniques and drilling and Sparring. And it is incredible for those who just want to learn self defense. Coach Shark is an amazing coach and person who cares for his each one of his students, I myself had to depart from the gym as I had some personal issues I was dealing with and am still currently trying to resolve. But best believe, when the time is right I will be back training here no matter how long it takes. Thank you Coach Shark for all you do and continue to do for the Sport of Jiu Jitsu. OSS.

This gym is great, I have been here since 2021 and never felt more welcomed by any other group of people. The jiujitsu is amazing and the training atmosphere is second to none.
Excellent instruction, Great coaching for all levels from the beginner to seasoned high level competitors. Wonderful kids program. I have known Coach Shark for almost 20 years and I could not imagine a better coach. Both my sons are also students and it has done wonders for their self confidence, discipline, dedication, and determination. If interested in BJJ this is the place to go for sure.
American Top Team Wellington is legitimately a state of the art facility. All classes are taught by Brazilian Jiu jitsu black belts and I can’t recall a class where Master Shark was not instructing the class himself. At any given time there are a minimum of 5-10 black belts in the class assisting and training.
I have trained multiple years at multiple bjj gyms both in New Jersey and in South Florida and American Top Team Wellington and Master Shark made me feel immediately welcome and at home. I cannot recommend Master Shark and American Top Team Wellington enough if you want to start or continue your Jiu jitsu journey. I love it here and I am happy to call American Top Tram Wellington home.

As an older practitioner (56 yo). American Top Team has been my jujitsu home for 14 years. For my first lesson through today all classes have been personally taught by Emyr "Shark" Bussade who is an absolute world class instructor.
As I have gotten older Shark has worked with me to tailor and adapt my training as I age. The benefits of BJJ as I entered my mid-fifties are incredible. Balance, flexibility, cardio and strength are all addressed efficiently in my weekly classes. Not to mention the constant learning and improving of a skill that has benefited me in numerous ways.
The greatest benefit received was the ability to have my son join and learn with me. In a world of distraction, social media and video games I could always count on Shark and our training to give us quality focused time. Even though he left for college we still take any opportunity to train together. I cannot recommend Shark highly enough. Starting can truly be a life changing experience.
My son (9) and I (42)started to train with Coach Shark in January of 2023. The level of instruction given as well as the overall maturity of the gym has been unbelievable. Shark is phenomenal with the kids keeping them engaged, and giving a level of instruction that is fun as well as age appropriate. As an adult, Shark’s teaching methods and implementation of jiujitsu is none like I’ve ever seen, I can’t see myself training anywhere else. I’ve been training at ATT Wellington for a year and it’s been the best experience. I came in overweight and out of shape and since then I’ve lost 60 pounds. Coach shark is a great teacher and mentor and the atmosphere is top notch.
Outstanding customer service from all of them, very sweet and caring! My oldest came from another martial arts place and she hated going after a while , and didn’t want to start back until we found this place through a referral. Both of my girls look forward to going, their confidence has definitely improved since being here! Their techniques is top tier and it shows in their moves and the way that they teach the kids , they are stern but not to the point that it scares the kids. I love that , considering what my oldest went through at her last place. The parents and their kids are very welcoming too, my girls already made some friends. Wald is incredibly knowledgeable and has a great team of teachers. This facility is beautiful, clean, and friendly for all ages. During the whole class, I felt prepared on how to prevent injuries and clear on how to correct my technique. If I lived here full year round- I would absolutely train here!
This is a special gym. 5 minutes after walking through the door, I knew I found my gym. There are some people you meet in life who's passion and dedication for something is so strong that you feel it spill over into yourself and the people around them. Prof Shark is one of those people and the gym shows it. It's a difficult thing to balance being a competition gym and a family gym but there truly is a place for everyone here. The attention to the students and care for the gym as a whole is second to none. I would strongly recommend this gym to anyone looking to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

I have been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at American Top Team Wellington for the past four years. Been training with Coach Shark for 1.5 years now. When a school that is led by a champion produces champions consistently, how could consider training anywhere else?
If you live in Wellington or the surrounding areas, and are not training at American Top Team Wellington with Coach Shark, you are wasting your time and money. This is the best BJJ School in Florida literally and for a fact!
Can't even begin to describe the level of instruction available here. Having been a student since 2009 (my son also began training in 2018) and during that time have trained at several dozen other gyms while traveling for work. Doesn't matter where else I've trained nothing compares to Shark. Sharks' ability to clearly communicate and explain not just the how but also the why of techniques is admirable. As a Physical Therapist for 25+ years I will occasionally catch myself using the same teaching techniques with my patients that Shark uses with his students and getting great results.
Aside from the highest level of teaching there is also the highest level of students. Lifelong friendships have been forged on the mat. I've also had the privilege of watching kids grow into teenagers and into young adults and cannot overstate the positive influence that jujitsu in general and Shark specifically has had on the kids that train with him.
If you're interested in learning jujitsu there is no other place to go.
Myself and my son started training Jiu-Jitsu under Coach Shark about 18 months ago. Coach Shark and all of the coaches there are amazing. Myself (38 years old) and my son (now 7 years old) started with zero experience and since day one we always felt welcomed and we never felt like we were out of place/uncomfortable. Also, about 2 months ago I enrolled my youngest son and he absolutely loves it. The structure and discipline they learn is incomparable to anything they’ve done in the past. What I love about ATT Wellington is that Coach Shark and all of the coaches truly love Jiu-Jitsu and they love to share their knowledge. If your looking for a top notch school that’s not all about money, but about quality, integrity and true Jiu-Jitsu, then look no further.
American top team wellington is an amazing bjj school. My daughter has been a student of coach sharks for 5 years. We searched all of palm beach county for a good bjj school and found that coach shark had the best program to turn my daughter into a state champion. We are lucky to have found coach shark, he is great with children and my daughter absolutely loves coming to class. Just as impressive are the adults classes. All classes are run by coach shark and there are plenty of black belts to help students of all skill levels. The curriculum is absolutely phenomenal and is light years ahead of other bjj schools around. If you are looking to learn from the best in bjj, learn modern Brazilian jiu-jitsu and train with adults who leave their egos at the door then I highly recommend American Top Team Wellington.

This is the best academy I have ever seen. It is completely incomparable to any other school. I am an US veteran and first responder. I’ve trained in several dojos in the area. American Top Team Wellington is by far the best Jiu Jitsu school I’ve trained with and Coach Shark is the best instructor I’ve ever had, and I will continue with Coach Shark until my Black Belt. This is an amazing place. Shark is like a father figure to me and has teached me a lot. I practice Jiu-Jitsu for almost 15 year, and for the past 4 and half years I have been training with coach Shark. Shark is in my opinion one of the best jiu-Jitsu coaches out there. As a Police Officer and Soldier in the Florida Army National Guard I'm required to be fit to fight and possess skills necessary to take control of hostile and violent individuals. Training under Master Shark at Wellington American top team, I have ensured that I have the best skills necessary to overcome dangerous individuals, enabling me to reduce chances of injuring the suspect or becoming injured while dominating the matter maximizing my value to the community. Master Shark also trains members of my family increasing their self confidence and reducing the likelihood of bullying issues in school. I can't give a stronger recommendation for Master Shark's method of training. If you seek the best Jiu Jitsu, seek Master Shark.

I started a year after my boyfriend and his son started training and I wish I had joined sooner. Michelle, who handles the front desk along with many other responsibilities, is wonderful and very welcoming. The instruction for all levels is superb! From the kids classes, to the serious competitors, Shark shares his wealth of knowledge and his skill as a teacher is priceless. He truly cares about helping students to be their best. The other members of the gym are always encouraging and supportive, making it such a positive environment. Jiu-jitsu is mentally and physically challenging, a great stress reliever and this school is the absolute BEST place to train!
American Top Team Wellington great environment to systematically learn Brazilian jiu jitsu. Master Shark’s teaching is very systemic where complex moves are broken down step by step, and you will understand how and why it works. I’ve been training jiu jitsu 18 years and I was blown away how deep his understanding of jiu jitsu is. It’s such a great learning and training atmosphere that immediately I signed my son up to train. My son loves jiu jitsu, but more importantly he has gained confidence, respect and discipline. I got my son started almost 5 years ago and was so impressed with Shark's instruction that my girlfriend and I joined as well.
Shark has an amazing ability to motivate and communicate with children. The kids are learning so much more than Jiu-Jitsu, they're learning physical fitness, respect, punctuality, confidence, diet and much more. The kids are required to stay out of trouble and get good grades in school as well. Shark has no problem talking to the kids about their grades and performing "off the mat".
As adults we're learning self-defense, sport, and getting into the best shape of our lives. We have the best competition team around with multiple World medalists. We have gained a new family through ATT Wellington. Our family still competes regularly and trains at least three times a week.
There simply isn't a better school around. The instructors and staff are as good as it gets.

Learning anything new can be a challenge. As a parent of children with ADHD, this can be especially challenging and I was apprehensive about starting them in a combative sport. My wife and I have been absolutely blessed to be apart of the American Top Team Wellington family. From the first day we walked in, Master Shark (and Michelle) have treated us with nothing but respect and welcomed us with open arms. However, it's the relationship with my children for which my wife and I have the utmost reverence and admiration for Master Shark. He treats our children like his own, often recognizing when their ADHD makes training nearly impossible for them. Our Jui Jitsu journey with Master Shark and American Top Team started in 2010. At first it was about exposing our oldest son to the values and discipline of martial arts due to the fact that he was a constant victim of bullies. After the second week of his classes, I noticed there were many father and son students training together. My son also noticed this and in turn made a request that I start doing classes with him which to me was like a dream come true since I myself was exposed to martial arts as a young boy thru my teenage years and into adulthood. Over the next few years the lessons we learned on the mat not only made us better Jui Jitsu students but also had a profound impact off the mat where we applied the values of emulating a black belt. Our Jui Jitsu journey with Master Shark and American Top Team started in 2010. At first it was about exposing our oldest son to the values and discipline of martial arts due to the fact that he was a constant victim of bullies. After the second week of his classes, I noticed there were many father and son students training together. My son also noticed this and in turn made a request that I start doing classes with him which to me was like a dream come true since I myself was exposed to martial arts as a young boy thru my teenage years and into adulthood. Over the next few years the lessons we learned on the mat not only made us better Jui Jitsu students but also had a profound impact off the mat where we applied the values of emulating a black belt. Hands down one of the best BJJ schools in Florida, I have been training here nearly 3.5 years and I can confirm that this school has produced some of the best bjj practitioners in the US. But what is even more impressive is Shark's ability to work with children, and if you're a parent who's children are involved in sports, you'll know that a good coach is key.
I have been training with Shark for over 7 years on and off. To say that my experiences at ATT have been life changing is an understatement. Not only have I learned self defense techniques, but it has built my confidence and overall outlook on life.
My advice to you, if you are looking for a place that is impeccably run by someone who has reached the highest levels look no further. Shark is as humble as he is decorated and has won coach of the year several times for a reason. In a world of Mc Dojos and profit first businesses he has gone against the grain and built a welcoming place that focuses on the students. So much so that after all these years if I don't show up for over a week he calls me and makes sure I am ok.

I was 15 minutes late to dropping my 5 Year old off. Signed my kid in and spoke with instructor wife. Asked if he can participate. She said “okay”. He waiting in line for his turn. Once it was his turn instructor yanked out of line and said he can’t participate. While this was all possibly a miscommunication. It was handled wrong. He embarrassed my child.
