Review for Altus Brazilian Jiu Jitsu I cannot speak highly enough of Altus Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and the incredible Professor Paulo. From the moment I stepped onto the mat, his welcoming attitude and warmth made me feel like part of a family. In a world where life can often get chaotic, Altus has been my safe haven. Since I began my jiu jitsu journey here, I’ve always felt a strong sense of belonging, even during times when I had to be away from work. Despite there being jiu jitsu schools closer to my home, I wouldn’t dream of training anywhere else. Altus is more than just a school; it truly is a family. Every class is an opportunity to challenge ourselves and strive to be the best we can be. Professor Paulo is not only an exceptional teacher but also a source of motivation. On days when you are feeling down or overwhelmed, he has an incredible knack for cheering you up and lifting spirits. I have been training at Altus jiu jitsu for a year and half and I can honestly say it’s been life changing, my only regret is I didn’t start earlier. The professors are all amazing and have helped my skill level increase very quickly. If you have been thinking about starting bjj don’t wait another day you won’t regret it!

My 5 year old loves Altus BJJ! He’s in the little grapplers class twice a week. Chuck is awesome with the kids and I see tremendous progress. My son is more confident and working towards a black belt.
I’ve been coming here for almost 2 years now and have loved every second of it. The professors the community everything about Altus Jiu Jitsu is great. My only regret is not starting sooner.

Great instructors, great students. Welcoming environment but you can really push your self. The night classes work really well with my schedule they don’t get out too late. And 24 hour access to a great gym is unbeatable. You won’t find a better deal for a better value for a better price

Love this place so much I even enrolled both of my sons and now it is a family thing we all do together. Professor Moreno is a brilliant instructor and Professor Lake is fantastic with my boys. On a scale of of one to five this place is a TEN.
Chuck teaches class at this location. I have an 11 an 9 who have been learning jujitsu under his tutelage. Not only do they learn jujitsu from him the also learn hard work , discipline, self confidence and self control. Looking at Chuck you might not be able to tell but he really cares deeply for the kids and I feel 100% confident in their safety when they are there. Great place to learn

Top notch. There is simply no better academy, far or near. My daughter is six years old, and we travel nearly two hours to this gym every other week just to get some extra work. The value is just that high. Coach Chuck is second to none when it comes to keeping kids engaged, learning, and having fun while training jiu jitsu.
Joined at end of March and I enjoy every training session. Each professor has been wonderful in teaching and showing each technique while explaining the reasons behind them. Valuable lessons and information.

Master chuck is the best!! Patience is truly his virtue. He takes his time with the kids and actually teaches them how to do things. He’s strict but also funny when it’s called for. Highly recommend.
I love Nitro BJJ! My son has been going since he was 5 (9 now). The discipline and skills he is learning is like no other. The instructors are also incredible and does so well with every age level. My son can’t wait to go to class every week! If you want to get your kids into a great after school activity this is it!
My daughter is part of their little grapplers group and she loves it! I was surprised at how mush she has learned. My 5 year old can now choke me out 😳😅
Definitely recommend this jiu jitsu gym. Justin creates a really relaxing, low-pressure environment that meets you wherever you're at in terms of fitness/martial arts experience. He has.a good balance of guiding students while also giving them space to learn. Based on what I've seen and experienced, Justin connects with his students and is very easy to talk to. For those more experienced with Jiu Jitsu: Because of Justin's background learning from high quality instructors in high quality gyms, you can be confident that you are learning Jiu Jitsu that actually works in a competition scenario. He is very clear with his instruction, teaches the most up-to-date/modern approaches, and always makes sure to include discussion of the broader concepts/principles behind a technique. If you get the chance to learn from Justin, you're learning from someone that cares a lot about Jiu Jitsu and helping others learn it.

Great place ! Very knowledgeable crew ! Professor is awesome with explaining technique thoroughly. He is able to break down each technique step by step and the little nuances of each technique .. truly awesome place to train for competition or learning self defense.

Over 6 years old When I moved “upstate” from the Bronx, I had to find a place to continue my journey (brown belt). I was promoted to Blackbelt in October of 2020. Needless to say they are very welcoming and offer great training.
Love the experience they have brought me. It’s a great environment and atmosphere and everyone there helps you learn and better yourself everyday. They instill discipline and hard work and I love going there day after day.

I joined nitro BJJ about 3 months ago and I have been extremely happy with my experience so far. The environment is amazing and I look forward to showing up to train hard everyday. I felt welcomed from the day I walked in and everyday after that. The quality of coaching is excellent. It’s a little overwhelming when your just starting out but I feel like each day I get better.

I’ve been training at Nitro BJJ for many years now. This academy has top tier instructors that truly care about the progress and well-being of their students. Head Professor Moreno is the absolute best in the business. His skill set and ability to teach go hand in hand in making him a phenomenal instructor. This facility is not only equipped with a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy, but accompanied with a Power House Gym, a Foundation Rx Supplement Store, and a physical medicine and rehabilitation center facility.

Nitro BJJ is the real deal, a first class training facility with top level instruction. The fact that it’s housed within a gorgeous and expansive weight training facility with plenty of cardio options is also very convenient. There is also a full physical therapy department as well as a cafe with healthy food options. I LOVE this place!

Nitro BJJ is inside of PowerHouse Gym. The long-time instructor there left recently and Nitro BJJ is now undergoing an adjustment period. In order to replace the single instructor that left, they had to bring on 2 new instructors, Patsy and Moreno. Patsy is a very good, methodical and patient instructor. Moreno on the other hand might be a highly trained martial artist but he is a poor instructor. I gave them a chance but ultimately decided to move on. I'm not paying for only half the service I used to get from this place. It's a shame. It used to be a fantastic location.
