Alton BJJ is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy based in Alton, Hampshire. We teach Gi and No Gi classes to people of all levels.

I have been part of Alton BJJ since 2016 and it is the most amazing club with outstanding instruction from the Head Coach Brian Livie supported by his team of Black Belts. For a family oriented club (I convinced my son to join last year) the level of rolling is exceptional, with something for everyone. From drilling and gentle flow rolling through to porrada shark tanks and competition training rounds. I can not recommend this Club highly enough.

My daughter has been training here for a while now and I can’t speak highly enough of the classes. She gets a warm welcome from Krystle, Brian, and the other instructors, and is supported throughout the class. Her confidence and ability have improved massively since training here and they have supported her whenever she has a wobble or gets a bit squashed when rolling. A great place for kids and adults to train, thanks guys 🤙

The team at Alton Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are fantastic! They provide outstanding training every week and consistently go above and beyond for their members. Both of my sons, aged 5 and 11, train with the club, and the benefits have extended far beyond learning the technical aspects of the sport. Their confidence has grown tremendously, they've built lifelong friendships, and we've even seen a positive impact in the classroom at school. If you're looking for a welcoming, supportive club with incredible coaches who genuinely care about their students, I couldn't recommend Alton Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu highly enough. We can't thank Krystal and Brian enough for everything they do!

Alton BJJ is an excellent club with a strong focus on high-quality coaching and a welcoming, respectful atmosphere. The coaches—Brian, John, Simon, and Luke—are all highly knowledgeable and teach with clarity, explaining not just how techniques work, but why they work and how to apply them effectively. Classes are well structured and suitable for all levels. Beginners feel supported, while more experienced practitioners are consistently challenged. The gym culture is friendly and ego-free, with controlled, safe training that encourages steady improvement. A serious but approachable BJJ club led by coaches who genuinely care about their students. Highly recommended.

Love training here. Every session is fun and always coming away from it learning something new. The coaches make everyone feel welcome and it has a great community of people. I feel great after each session physically and mentally! I couldn't recommend Alton BJJ more to anyone

The Most Fun You Can Have Getting Tied in Knots If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to be a human pretzel and love every second of it, Alton Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the place for you! Walking in, I thought, “How hard can this be?” Fast forward 30 minutes, and I’m tapping out faster than I can say “armbar.” The coaches here are absolute legends—not only do they know their stuff, but they also manage to make learning grappling techniques hilariously fun. They somehow strike the perfect balance between teaching you how to defend yourself and making you laugh so hard you almost forget you're sweating buckets. The community is fantastic too—everyone’s super supportive, whether you're a complete newbie (like me) or someone who’s secretly auditioning for a UFC career. No egos, just good vibes and lots of encouragement. I’ve learned so much, including the fact that being "mounted" is not as glamorous as it sounds and that shrimping isn’t just a seafood term. If you're thinking about joining, do it! You’ll gain skills, fitness, confidence—and maybe a few bruises that make for great stories. Alton BJJ, you’ve officially made me a fan for life. Thanks for teaching me how to survive a chokehold with a smile on my face!

I joined Alton Bjj 8 months ago, I was shy and wasn’t very good at socialising with people, but ever since I joined I’ve become more confident person. Everyone is really kind and always happy to help and if you’re a slow leaner the coaches are always willing to go Through things with you. If your somebody who wants to learn how to fight and become a stronger more confident person alton bjj is the place !!!!

BJJ might seem intimidating at first, the skills gap insurmountable, and the physicality too demanding. BUT if there is anywhere that is going to make this seem achievable and within your reach, it's Alton BJJ. Quality instructors, encompassing curriculum, keen class mates, and your willingness to learn will make your BJJ journey something you want to do, not a chore.

Started doing Jiu Jitsu about 10 months ago here in Alton and I'm so glad that this was my first experience of it! The instructors here are very knowledgeable and are able to get that across through clear instructions, making sure that everyone (from beginners to advanced) understand what they're doing and why they're doing it too. All the members here create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and you'll always have a laugh. I have been training at Alton BJJ for 6 months now and couldn't ask for better instructors. There is a really good atmosphere at the club and people are always supportive of your own personal jiu jitsu goals!
