I have been attending classes for the past year or so and could not be happier. I am an older athlete (59 years old) who started BJJ later in life and enjoy the mix of older and younger practitioners (from teens upwards). Professor Brian Brown brings his incredible passion for martial arts and his obvious love of teaching to the table to the benefit of all. I particularly love the nurturing family atmosphere that Brian has instilled, not only from the coaches, but also the students. While we roll hard, everyone is motivated to help their team mates to learn and to grow. Would highly recommend to anyone, no matter the age or skill level.
Professor Brian (Head instructor/owner) is an exceptional coach and a passionate martial arts instructor. His dedication to teaching and mentoring his students is truly admirable. Professor Brian not only imparts valuable skills but also instills confidence and discipline in his students. I have seen remarkable progress in my training under his guidance. If you're looking for a coach who is truly passionate about his work and committed to helping you succeed, look no further than Professor Brian. Highly recommended!
I have been training with Professor Brian for a little over two years now. I am consistently impressed with the quality of instruction and the welcoming community. Professor Brian’s unique ability to systematically break down complex techniques into individual moves makes the lessons digestible for students of all skill levels. His meticulous attention to detail ensures that even the most intricate techniques are understood and executed with precision. What truly stands out is his dedication to each student's growth. He doesn't just teach moves; he instills confidence and fosters an environment of continuous learning and improvement. The classes are well-structured, focusing on both the physical and strategic aspects of BJJ, ensuring that students not only learn the moves but also deeply understand the principles behind them. I highly recommend this gym for anyone who is interested in learning BJJ. The inclusive, supportive, and educational environment, coupled with Professor Brian's expertise and the community's camaraderie, makes the journey in BJJ rewarding and enjoyable.
Brian is a fantastic instructor and great role model for all of the students here, whether you are young and old. The training partners at this gym are also excellent and the environment is incredibly welcoming and friendly. I highly encourage anyone in the area to drop by for a jiu jitsu (or other martial arts) class, whether you live nearby or are just traveling for work/family!
Visited from out of town. Felt lucky to be able to roll on newly installed Zebra mats. Brian and the students were incredibly welcoming and friendly. They helped tremendously with learning some great technique and providing feedback after rolling. Couldn’t have asked for a better place and friendly environment to train.
Every so often you come across a teacher who is not only passionate about their craft but also highly effective at communicating. This translates into a robust learning experience for students. Professor Brian and team at Alpharetta Martial arts bring all of the above to the mats. Professor Brian is knowledgeable, passionate, and demanding as an instructor; working with him has been a literal game changer in my own journey with BJJ and women's self defense. Professor Brian takes the time to break down and drill fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu over the course of weeks to ensure students walk away confident in their technique and bolstered with enough muscle memory to deliver the moves during sparring. His commitment to his craft translates into well developed lessons and curriculum, creating a positive learning environment that is rigorous and adaptable to meet individual students needs. This is the highest level of teaching, that comes from the teachers dedication to the sport, and a passion for connecting with and growing a body of students in the community. I give Alpharetta Martial Arts the highest possible recommendation. I may not be an expert on BJJ (yet) but as a teacher I can recognize excellent teaching, both in delivery and strategy. Professor Brian is top notch as an instructor. If you've ever been curious to try a new sport, this is an excellent place to start!
Professor Brian is awesome instructor. He has help me develop my technique.
I have been learning BJJ from Professor Brown for little less than a year now. Professor Brown is an excellent instructor and one of his greatest strengths is his attention to detail and ability to communicate those details. This makes Prof. Brown very easily understandable even to beginners. In addition to his skills in practicing and teaching BJJ, Prof. Brown provides a very hospitable, clean and safe environment which makes him and his gym very accessible which is very important when starting your journey in BJJ. In conclusion, I would highly recommend Alpharetta Martial Arts and Prof. Brown without any hesitation.
Brian is an excellent instructor in that he takes a genuine interest in every student and devotes the time to help you achieve your JiuJitsu goals. Brian’s classes are fun and you’ll be getting into shape in no time. When I started Brazilian JiuJitsu I was out of shape, and the gym was quite boring for me, I started my journey and within a few months I was in better shape and couldn’t wait for the next class. I learned a lot from Brian and can attribute several of my sneaky submissions due to his tutelage. Thanks Brian!
I visit Alpharetta Martial Arts very often. Professor Brian Brown has an incredible way instructing his students. He is an extremely knowledgeable BJJ black belt and takes the time with each of his students to insure they are learning what he teaches. He treats everyone with respect and I enjoy my time there. I would recommend this gym to any BJJ practitioner, no matter your skill set. You will welcomed with open arms. Ben Pierce
Professor Brian has a special gift for being able to teach and explain systematically. The gym has a great culture of support and friendship too.
Caring and highly skilled master at the helm! Brian is the best!
The instruction from Brian Brown is simply outstanding. He is always helping others develop their BJJ to the next level. A class act and excellent place to start or continue this BJJ journey.
Brian is a fantastic instructor who has a gift for teaching.

I have been training bjj with Professor Brian for over 8 years now. He has learned from some of the best instructors around and it shows. He has a knack for breaking down the techniques into easy to understand pieces for all skill levels. He will show you how, as well as why, which is one of the main reasons I love training at Atlanta Martial Arts Club.
Professor Brian is a mentor, both on and off the mat. It's obvious his heart is to share knowledge and love of martial arts, not just to sell it. I've been a part of the AMAC community since March 2018 and am absolutely grateful for both the comfortable, family-like atmosphere and Professor Brian's personable engagement.
The best way I can describe this gym and professor Brown is to ask you to think back to high school or college. Think of that teacher that not only loved the subject they were teaching but also inspiring their students and how much they cared to see their students grow. Now think of the difference that teacher was able to make on your life and others. That is the level dedication Professor Brian has to his craft, his school, and most importantly his students. I could not imagine getting a black belt any where else. . . . oss!
ATLMAC is the perfect group for adults who are looking for an effective self-defense skillset, an environment of camaraderie, and a place where you get personal attention from instructors who CARE about your progression and attitude in a true martial arts journey. Brian Brown truly cares about his students, often taking personal time (off and on the mat) to reach out and help members of the club with their questions, customize the learning process, and to help students understand the "why" as well as the "how". He has created a wonderful group that has a culture of continuous experimentation and learning. You'll get a very well rounded martial experience covering all aspects of self defense including open hands, long range fighting, grappling, ground fighting, bladed weapons offense and defense, etc. I highly recommend this group!
I've been training in all 3 disciplines offered for 7-8 months now. I am very pleased with the amount I have learned in this period of time and feel I'm a much more effective martial artist than I was 8 months ago. My skill set had big holes in it; Guro/Professor Brian and Guro Alex are plugging those holes while providing a fun and energetic training environment. Keith
I've been training BJJ with Professor Brown for almost 8 year at AMAC. It's been a great experience and I look forward to many more years.
