Proud to be part of the Alpha Family. So lucky to have such a great gym in the local area. John is a fantastic coach, with a plethora of martial arts knowledge. I have been training both karate and juice jitsu with Alpha for 8 months and have loved each and every training session. The team are extremely welcoming and would recommend this gym to anyone. By far the best gym I have trained at!
Posted 5 years agoBest Karate/ BJJ club in the area! John is amazing Master/instructor and one of the most humble/welcoming people I have ever meet. Great school to learn new skills, get fit and bond with the entire family. I can't recommend more, me my wife and my son did go to this School for awhile(we live far now so regrettably we stopped).
Posted 7 years agoA fantastic BJJ club in Suffolk. Highly experienced instructors with great coaching, fantastic facilities. Windy Miller and his instructors are truly top notch. This is evidenced by the number of podium positions at competitions of all level. And if you don't want to compete then that's not an issue either... self development and mentoring is all part of what they willingly give. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
Posted 6 years agoHaving trained in various places over the years I can safely say that blue wave is one of the nicest groups of people to train with. The coaching is top notch. The mats are always clean! Everyone who trains there just wants to help each other improve. Great atmosphere always!
Posted 6 years agoAs a lifelong martial artist with two black belts (karate and tae kwon do) I have always believed self defense is a critical life skill. My daughter began Karate at age 5 in Japan. She began Brazilian Jiujitsu at age 8...also in Japan. I am an American Airman stationed in England. My family arrived here in 2016 and a large part of our decision to live in Bury St Edmunds was the proximity to Blue Wave. My daughter was 9. From the very first lesson, I knew we had made the correct choice. The atmosphere was fun and relaxed. The kids were encouraged experiment with their skills in an Inclusive environment of respect. Windy and the senior belts at Blue Wave built on her foundation and developed her into a formidable young woman whose favourite part of the week was making much larger boys Tap out. Sadly, after four years, we had to move. My adorable, tiny, 9yo grey belt is now a 13Yo orange belt (Still only 35kg) who forces adults to submit. There is no better evidence for how effective Blue Wave’s teaching is. For my part, Windy convinced me to take it up as well. I’m not as good as the kid, but I’m getting better, and BJJ has become the best part of my day or week. Blue Wave always felt like family and for a nomad like me, that matters.
