We absolutely love Advantage Martial Arts! Our son was struggling with listening, showing respect, redirection and regulating and expressing emotions, as well as struggling in the classroom, and with his self esteem before we signed him up with the hope that having an out for his 6 year old high energy needs, but also to have other positive role models echo and directly teach what we strive to in our home. We have been in the Little Ninjas classes since August 2024 and have been so impressed with Master Phillips and all of the coaches. They have great patience with the kids while reinforcing the values and expectations while staying positive and understanding of the kids, their needs and their growth. The values of Tae Kwon Do are expected in class but also to be demonstrated at home and school and the community. I love they teach safety and rules especially when preparing and engaging the kids in conversation about what to do if they get lost or get approached by a stranger as part of the curriculum. Our son has gone from getting office referrals and sitting in the safe seat to earning kindness awards at school and engaging in his classroom lessons and being a leader. He is listening so much better, showing much more respect, managing his emotions better and is no longer constantly frustrated with a short fuse! His self esteem has also sky rocketed and he doesn’t dwell on mistakes as long and he no longer shuts down when being corrected. He used to say he was a bad kid, even when receiving mild redirection. He now takes redirection, encouragement and compliments so much better! He is overall so much happier, more confident and I feel like I can actually talk and engage with him without constantly always having to correct or redirect a behavior. He now talks about goals and believes he can reach them from what he has learned so far in Tae Kwon Do. I also believe having multiple role models through Master Phillips and all the coaches has helped him hear good things about himself outside of our home, while also encouraging him when he needs to work a little harder which has shown him it’s ok if he is not perfect the first time he tries something. He also now knows how it feels to accomplish something he worked for and that being coached towards a goal is not a negative thing and that he can be successful even when he has received correction on it. He now believes the positive things we tell him about himself and he shines a whole lot brighter! I’m so excited to continue to watch him thrive from what he learns here!

The instructors are very professional yet friendly and helped my child learn more discipline. The kids always seem to have a good time and always welcoming of new members regardless of age. I wouldn't take my kids anywhere else.

My 2 boys attend here at advantage. Under the care and direction of Master Phillips we are lucky to have such a wonderful leader in Kearney, MO. We are early in the process but we have seen a difference in their abilities to grasp things quickly and explain with confidence.

Last fall, my son attended one of the free trial classes offered by Advantage Martial Arts upon the recommendation of a friend. He was welcomed by the instructors and other students in class. He enjoyed it so much he continued to attend. After his second or third trial class, I noticed several other parents participating in the class alongside their kids and so I decided to try it as well. Our experience has been nothing but exceptional! Master Phillips and the other instructors have created an environment that is fun and challenging. Students learn Taekwondo skills but they also learn valuable lessons about life. In order to promote to the next belts, students have to turn in a parent feedback form. I really appreciate this aspect as it has allowed us, as parents, to partner with Master Phillips to provide accountability for our son. I really appreciate the time we've spent at Advantage Martial Arts for the physical activity and the character development. I've really enjoyed learning alongside my son and promoting to each belt together. If you're looking for an activity you can do with your kids, I highly recommend Advantage Martial Arts!

Advantage Martial Arts is a amazing! Master Phillips and all the coaches are phenomenal with the kids and adults! Our daughter has loved goes from day one and has learned so much ! They teach martial arts, confidence and respect!

A few months ago I brought my son to Advantage Martial Arts for the two week free trial that they offer, just to see if it was something that he was interested in. In about a week, he was hooked! After seeing all the fun that he was having and the drive, dedication and discipline he began developing, not to mention the kindness and compassion for other individuals that he began exhibiting, I also decided to join. Now, we never miss a class and I have even convinced my wife and daughter to sign up as well. Master Phillips and her coaches not only teach Taekwondo, they teach respect, and self confidence. From the Little Ninjas class to the advanced martial arts class, Master Phillips is having a positive influence and making a difference. She takes pride in teaching; you can see how her motivation drives the class. I highly recommend Advantage Martial Arts!!! This is truly an amazing place for a family!

I seriously can't say enough about AMA and Master Phillips. I'm a 53 year old (aka 29) woman participating in this adventure. At the beginning I started out this adventure as a relationship builder with my 11 year old grandson. After 2 1/2 years my grandson and I will test for brown belt this weekend. It has tested our physical ability and at times pushed us to our limits. This experience has been a incredible and character building beyond my expectations. With the guidance and support we have received from Master Phillips and our coaches in and out side of class, we have gained not only strength but more confidence and discipline. With that being said, we are so proud to be a part of our AMA family.

My family has benefited greatly from the exceptional teaching at Advantage Martial Arts. The facility is clean and orderly. The instructor and her staff are supportive, knowledgeable and friendly, and each class is structured and organized. Students are taught respect, self-control and discipline while learning a valuable physical skill. I cannot recommend this facility enough. It has been a positive addition to our lives in so many ways. The anti-bullying atmosphere allows pupils to grow in confidence, while making friends and achieving new martial arts skills. As complete beginners to the art of Taekwondo, we were nervous to begin classes. All of our fears were melted away, however, within 5 minutes of the first class. Everyone aims to make each student feel welcomed and appreciated. Do yourself a favor and give Advantage Martial Arts a try. It will meet your expectations and more.

I am so grateful I found this martial arts academy for my daughters. I love how the sessions are structured across the week allowing flexibility in our busy schedule to choose what night works best each week. I like how the session includes all ages so my girls have role models. I like how the belt testing is included in the tuition. Master Phillips is a strong female role model. There are many coaches on the floor along with Master Phillips so everyone stays active and engaged the entire time with an average 6:1 ratio students to instructor. Master Phillips is constantly walking the floor to interact with each student at some point during the session giving them that little boost of special attention. There is a wonderful balance between teaching Taekwondo skills, character traits (honor, integrity, focus, respect etc) & personal safety skills in a fun & active environment. This academy has exceeded my expectations. Best of all, my daughters (not quite 8) are loving it.

My three children and I have been students at Advantage Martial Arts for a year and we love it. I'm 38. If I can do it, anybody can. It's fun to watch each other grow in such a great environment. This isn't the kind of place where you stand around watching or waiting all the time. We are all in it all the time and it is both fun and a great workout. The kids have become more independent, goal oriented, and focused. We've bonded as we work together. I 100% recommend Advantage Martial Arts to anyone (any size, any fitness level, any age....you can do this!)...and it's fun, too!

My son and step son have been going here for several years. When we first started taking both of them, my son was excited to begin; my stepson was not, to say the least. In the beginning, he would only go in with my son and would sit along the side, refusing to participate. We pushed him beyond his comfort zone because we knew that's what he needed. By the time the first belt promotion came around, he was standing up, participating, and speaking in front of the crowd. As the years have gone by, his progress has been unimaginable! His confidence has increased, his drive has improved, and he is now working on earning his black belt in February! Anybody who has seen him improve will tell you how they weren't sure he'd make it~ but look at him now! My son, as I said earlier, has always wanted to try TKD and has always been motivated. What has been noticeably different has been his attitude and his drive to succeed! As he has grown into a teenager, his stubborn side is showing more and more. However, AMA has shown him other ways of handling his moods he has. His grades went from As, Bs, and Cs to straight A's. I would say that this Master Phillips and her facility have been a lifesaver as a parent. (I'm a firm believer of the idea that it takes a village to raise a child.) The respect she has for all her students, regardless of age, is obvious when you see the respect that her students have for her. She has taught my boys more than I could have ever hoped for and they only continue to get better. It has been worth every penny I have spent (and continue to spend) and I would recommend Master Phillips to anyone. I would never have believed the positive drastic changes until I experienced it myself.

Master Phillips and her team are simply awesome!!!! My daughter has held strong through Purple Belt now and my wife and I could not be happier with the honor and respect this class has brought her. This is a wonderful Martial Arts Center and it is family oriented as well. Thank you Master Phillips for being a great role model for the children.

Excellent dojong. Master Phillips employs a great instructional/coaching mix of traditional ways with modern approaches. Great student leadership program. Superior ability to assess student’s needs and progress. Anyone of any age will benefit from active, dedicated participation and have fun while learning important skills and values that go beyond the sport. I highly recommend this dojong.

My son has been taking lessons from Master Phillips and really loves it. She is a strong female role model for boys and girls. She emphasizes respect and discipline while also being really kind and engaging with the kids. A bonus for me is that she talks about "home rules" which include obeying parents and being respectful. It is nice to find an activity that I enjoy as much as my son does.

We have had a hard time finding an activity for our daughter who has some developmental delays. My daughter LOVES Tae Kwon! Master Phillips treats our daughter like everyone else and pushes her, assuming she will be successful. At the same time, when it's needed she will modify things when necessary so that our daughter always CAN be successful. Tae Kwon Do has been amazing for my daughter and is an activity that challenges and pushes her and at the same time one where she can feels an amazing sense of accomplishment and pride.

Master Phillips is amazing! She teaches so much more than martial arts to her students. Respect, discipline, work ethic, listening skills, empathy, and, of course, self defense and safety skills. She has high expectations and her students are constantly motivated to meet those expectations not only at the dojo, but at school and home as well. I can't recommend Advantage Martial Arts and Master Phillips enough!

I have two boys that have experienced martial arts training at Advantage Martial Arts and Fitness. Both boys benefited a great deal from their training. Master Phillips insures that they learn discipline, self-esteem, leadership, and wellness. On a side note there is a benefit in young men learning a healthy respect for women that I believe this experiences offers over others. One of my sons just achieved black belt and I must say that it was an achievement that I was blessed as a parent to experience. Master Phillips is a great motivator and teacher. She cares about her students and will spend extra time if they are willing to make the effort. Advantage is an awesome place!
