New to BJJ. I’ve so far been to the morning classes which are smaller but more personal to your development. Jon and Coach Jared are phenomenal at breaking each technique especially if you are new to the sport. Many of the seasoned students are also there to help you learn as it’s a close community who all practice many other MMAs together other than BJJ if you want to take part. Highly recommend to those wanting to learn a new skill that can one day save you from a sticky situation.

Academic Grappling offers premium BJJ instruction at highly affordable pricing (especially with respect to other gyms in the area). It has a flexible schedule that includes both morning and evening classes. After training at a few gyms in the greater Indianapolis area, I couldn't imagine training anywhere else.
I've been training here for almost a year now. This place is unlike any other gym I've ever been to. It's so welcoming and inclusive. All while gaining some great knowledge and a great workout. 10/10 would recommend to anyone regardless of skill level.
This place has become my second home and these people have become my family. You can't find a more friendly and loving group of people to learn BJJ from!

I have learned so much in a short time here because of so many welcoming training partners and the instructors are really great at what they do. This is also the only jiu jitsu gym I know that has a class dedicated for women. Their community is awesome!!

This is THE best place to learn jiu jitsu. As a 43-year-old, complete novice, I looked at several places and there was no question that I wanted to train here. Coach Jared has assembled a team and group that wants you to learn and get better. There is no ego here and no one proving themselves by beating you into the ground. Don’t get me wrong, there is REAL talent here and if want to be smashed, there is no shortage of players who can do it. But, EVERYONE here is truly out to make sure you learn and get better at whatever pace you are comfortable with. I put off learning BJJ for a long time due other places having an atmosphere…less than welcoming. This place is an oasis. If you’ve been thinking about doing BJJ or are looking for a new place to train, don’t hesitate!
Coach Jared has really made academic grappling a special place to learn Jiu Jitsu. He makes every student feel welcomed and tailors his class to your needs, whether it's to learn jiu jitsu as a casual hobby or for those that want to compete at the highest level. The community that Coach Jared has created is something else that you will not find else where in Indianapolis!

This is one the best gyms I have ever been to. The head coach has won national and international events. The coaches are kind, intelligent, and courteous. The gym has a great congenial atmosphere and works for competitors and hobbyists alike.
