Great time with great people. From Louisiana visiting and working and they made me feel right at home like familia. From the boot to the D, much ❤️. Highly recommend dropping in or joining.
Traveled to Detroit for work and dropped into 313 BJJ and it was a warm welcoming environment. Got my butt kicked by a BB in the Gi and got to train no Gi as well. This gym has a strong BJJ gym culture 10/10 recommend.
I miss this place, super welcoming environment, great coaches, cool people - definitely will return provided I move back to MI
Great academy with high level Jiujitsu. Was in town for business called in to check schedule and dropped in. Great hospitality clean beautiful school.
Amazing experience the instructors are highly knowalged and take the time to make sure you understand what is being presented a good community of fellow people who train 24/4 by far the best bjj gym in the metro Detroit area highly tecogmend!
Passed through for a class on my honeymoon. Very welcoming gym, great teachers and a lovely atmosphere. Thank you 🤙🏽
Great culture and even better teachers.
They made me feel very welcome and I appreciate that. I plan to come in the future and recommend anyone go here to learn self-defense and have fun getting fit.
One of the best gyms in the Midwest. All of staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The dedication to their craft is unmatched. Don’t look anywhere else in SE Michigan for jiujitsu
313 BJJ is a world-class gem hiding in plain sight. The instructors, led by Fabio Lima, are kind, patient, and absolute masters at their craft. Their jiu jitsu is amazing, but their ability to teach is absolutely unparalleled. More importantly, the atmosphere of the gym is as friendly and unintimidating as any place I’ve ever been. I've had the luxury of traveling across the country and world and training at more gyms than I can count, and I can honestly say that there aren't many places quite like 313. The training here is top notch. But the people are even better. Can’t recommend enough.
Nice, friendly and clean gym. Came in for a drop in class, was a very easy experience to sign up. I went in for the morning class and had a great roll with Jesse
Great instruction, great atmosphere, all belt levels welcome. Inclusive and friendly culture.
I began training at 313BJJ in October 2018 as a blue belt and was awarded my purple from Fabio in 2021. This gym has the best cohort of training partners I've ever experienced. The culture, vibe, and quality of jiu jitsu at 313 is top of the game, and so is Fabio as a coach - he's the real deal.
An welcoming gym full of awesome people. Fabio is an excellent teacher who really cares about his students. Everyone should try BJJ!
It’s a beautiful family friendly gym with great culture and tradition. Diamond in the D.
Proud to call this my home BJJ gym. Excellent friendly atmosphere for all levels of experience. Coaches are all great.
Fabio is an excellent teacher and coach of the art. Mamoon runs an incredible kids class, he has great patience and makes learning BJJ fun for the kids. Gym is very clean. I highly recommend 313BJJ to anyone. Amazingly located in the Heart of Detroit.
There is so many good things I could say about this place! I first visited 313 to drop in for open mats. I’ve cross trained all over Michigan and now I’ve found a home on these mats. My game has evolved so much since I started training here! Everyone here is so welcoming. Very beautiful, clean, facility. Whether you’re a beginner or or a visitor, 313 is a great learning environment! ♥️
In 313 BJJ, i found my community, place to practice my spirituality, and sense of self. I highly encourage anyone who needs to fulfill that sense of belonging to give 313 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu chance. I wish I started earlier!
This gym has been phenomenal since the first day that I walked in. The head instructor Fabio is both extremely knowledgeable and endearing with his students. In the 7 gyms that I have visited so far, he has demonstrated the highest quality of instruction and structure in his classes. The environment of every gym trickles down from it's head instructor, and at this gym everyone is extremely kind and welcoming. They are invested in seeing you improve while at the same time patient with your journey. High quality jiu jitsu taught from and to great people. Also comparatively very clean mats, locker room, and showers which is a huge plus.
It’s always intimidating being a female in a male dominated sport—I’m extremely thankful to have found an academy that feels like home. Highly recommend!
One of the best gyms in the Midwest. The instruction and attention to detail of the techniques being taught are amazing. The Head instructor Fábio always greets you with such class and welcomes you into his gym no matter where you train at. The gym is great for beginners and competitors and knows how to welcome newcomers into the sport. The atmosphere at this gym is amazing no judgement at all and everyone is friendly and pushes you to new limits you never thought was possible.
By far the best jiu jitsu gym in the entire Midwest. Fabio has a deep breadth of knowledge to help you reach your goals on and off the mats. The community here is awesome, they will support you on your journey whether that means losing weight, gaining confidence, learning to defend yourself, or becoming a world champion. If you stop by and take a trial class you will see what I mean. Shout outs to Fabio and Mamoon.
I’ve only been here for about a month I’m a beginner but I learned so much within the short time I have been here. I train with Zack the most great teacher and very clear when giving instructions.
Professor Fabio Lima taught an awesome double leg take down and Guilotine defense! I drove all the way from Arkansas to be here. Can't wait to go back for no gi tomorrow. Oss!
I have been training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for a few years now and it is undeniably one of the most technical martial arts. In my experience, the best way to describe it is like a slowly blossoming tree, each tree branch representing a move. That move can further be improved upon or can continue to grow into a secondary branch representing the next sequence of the movement. For every move, there is a counter and to every counter, there is another. It teaches you to think ahead and anticipate your opponent’s movements and teaches you how to best respond to those movements. Jiu-Jitsu is a physical game of chess that pushes you to think of all the possible outcomes two or three steps ahead. Jiu-Jitsu has a limitless category of moves you can pick and choose from to build on what works for you. it allows you to develop your own inspired style of game. Fabio and the 313BJJ team do an outstanding job of guiding students through a skill with very detailed and thorough instruction, all while allowing students to develop a fighting style that is unique to themselves. Fabio is the humblest most skilled blackbelt in jiu-jitsu that has built an atmosphere where like-minded individuals can grow. At 313BJJ you can find one of the cleanest and most welcoming environments filled with good people pushing each other to greatness both on the mats and off. OSSS!
Trained all around the world, from dubai, to spain, to los angeles. No gym is better than this one. Level of instruction is detailed and very practical. If you want to get good at jiu jitsu with a family environment you come here.
Great training session highly reccomend stopping by if you're passing through or signing up to train with this group!
I walked into 313 BJJ a complete beginner and out of shape about 4 months ago. I had no idea what to expect and was very nervous my first day. From Day 1 Fabio has not only made me feel at ease but has pushed me to work hard and stay committed as a beginner. His instructors are all highly talented and each impart a different way of teaching that build very well rounded lessons and students. Everyone pays huge attention to cleanliness and the mats are disinfected multiple times a day. With their diverse schedule I'm able to come train mornings, noon and evenings whenever my schedule allows. Everyone here is very friendly, I can't believe how lucky I am to have walked in to 313 out of all the gyms around Detroit - Thank you Fabio, Mamoon, Jesse, Juan, Byron, Zach and everyone else! You guys are amazing!
Been here a little over a year. Great group of instructors. Flexible training sessions 7 days a week!
My four children have been training at 313 for almost 5 years and they love it. Mamoon is an excellent instructor. He is patient with the children and always encouraging and fun! My kids have gained strength in mind and body. Fabio leads an awesome community and the kids are a part of it. Everyone who walks in the door has a mutual respect for one another. We are happy to be a part of 313 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
313BJJ is a top tier gym. It is filled with welcoming and friendly athletes, led by experts, and is always clean. If you are looking to learn BJJ in a professional environment, this is the place.
I trained here for just over a year every morning at 6:30 a.m. I loved every bit of it! Fabio and his coaching staff were top notch and very knowledgeable. The training space is big, it’s clean, has locker rooms and showers! The students, coaches and Fabio soon become more like family then teammates. If you are in the area, I highly recommend 313BJJ to anybody. *Fabios Jiu Jitsu was also mentioned on the Joe Rogan podcast for being outstanding!
I love 313 BJJ. I was a bit intimidated to start as I had no martial arts experience but I've had nothing but positive experience.. absolutely recommend to anyone who wants to give BJJ a try
Awesome instructors and awesome people! Best place to train in Detroit!
I've trained around the metro Detroit area and I have to say 313 Brazilian Jiu jitsu is the best gym around. Clean training environment with plenty of space. Great instructors at every class from early mornings to night classes! Fabio is a legit assassin and a black belt under Marcelo Garcia and it shows every time you step on the mats with him or any of his long time students. Fabio has the skills that not only pays his bills but helps you achieve and develop some of your own life skills. What is learned on the mats can be taken into the real world that's more than self defense wise. Developing mental toughness, situational awareness and meet some of the greatest Detroit has to offer. If you are looking to drop in, starting your bjj journey or a change of scenery. 313 Brazilian jiu jitsu is the gym you've been looking for.
One of the most beautiful gyms in the area.
I’ve been training at 313BJJ for 3 years now and it’s been fantastic. Very clean, well maintained gym with respectful, talented instructors and training partners. A very welcoming vibe makes it a great gym for any type of athlete!
I’m a 38 year old female starting Jiu Jitsu for my first time. Been going for several months now. Not knowing what I was getting into, I have felt very welcomed and comfortable at 313 BJJ. It is very clean and well maintained. Outstanding coaches. Mamoon is great and Fabio is very patient and detailed. I highly recommend coming to 313 and we need more women 😊
I was in town for a month and a half. Usually I train at a different academy and have been training Jiujitsu for about 17 years. Everyone at the academy was very easy to train with. Fabio is an excellent teacher who is always encouraging his students to perform well and learn Jiujitsu. I was thoroughly impressed and will miss being able to train with them. If you are considering training here dont hesitate. You can rest assured that you are in very good company!
I attended before covid but the teaching staff were great and the other practitioners were skilled and respectful. Good atmosphere for training. I'd still be going if I lived in the area!
I’m a couple months in and I have nothing but great things to say. I had absolutely no experience at all in BJJ beforehand, but they’re extremely welcoming to everyone, even beginners. The team culture of this place may be my favorite thing about it. Everyone is very humble and no one has a big ego.
I visited the gym while hanging out in Detroit for the weekend. The Sunday open mat was great. Lots of bodies, multiple ranks, gi and no-gi. I recommend 313 if you’re in town.
It's a huge, well ventilated building with a high ceiling that keeps the gym comfortable, and this place is very clean and sanitary! All of the instructors are friendly, disciplined, and pay attention to the little details that make all the difference in jiu-jitsu. Also, I love how they have many classes throughout the day, everyday of the week! I can always find a way to fit a class into my schedule!
313 is a great place to train. The instructors are great and accommodating to all skill levels. With the variety of class schedules and a beautiful facility, I highly recommend 313 BJJ to anyone looking to start training or looking for a new school.
I am a beginner who trains at a academy north of the city close to my home, but work downtown. I decided to drop in for some training at an afternoon class at 313 BJJ. I was very impressed. Professor Lima gave some great instruction on shoulder lock sequences from half-guard. It was followed by some very challenging sparing. Lima's students are being very well served by him and are very good. The facilities are also top notch, very clean, and very modern looking (but with some old Detroit charm) with multiple showers (with soap and shampoo provided, which saves you the big hassle of bringing and storing your own in your gear bag -little thing but big plus imho) nice locker room, and multiple restrooms that are separate from the showers. Look forward to dropping in again. Would recommend to anyone who lives or works in the Motor City.
Dropped in past 313 as I was in the area for a few days. already after 2 sessions the guys have uplifted my spirits so much with their friendly and active ways to teach. Since beginning my journey of Bjj 6 months ago, i’ve found always that the training facilities have been packed with good folk.. this for sure follows the trend! Fabio and Mamoon were some of the most humbled trainers I’ve met! Thanks for all so far and best regards to new comers and those I met at 313. Todo bien till next time Lewis - Scotland
I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that Detroit had a decent selection of Brazilian jiu jitsu gyms in the downtown area. I was even more surprised to find an incredible gym that also happened to be an affiliate of Marcelo Garcia Academy. 313 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a fairly new gym owned by Professor Fabio Lima, a talented Marcelo Garcia Blackbelt, and is a welcoming place for anyone to learn Brazilian jiu jitsu. The gym itself is clean, spacious, and is one of the few gyms that has all the amenities such as locker rooms, bathrooms, showers, and even a washer/dryer. After learning and personally training with Professor Fabio, I can attest that he is a gifted teacher who not only provides clear instructions to his students but also demonstrates great skill in implementing techniques while sparring. The students are both kind and great competitors, just like their professor, which makes for a positive training environment. It’s amazing to find such a high caliber gym in Detroit and I look forward to training again in the near future. I highly recommend any newcomers or visitors to pay a visit to 313 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu!
Fantastic instructors and a wonderful team environment. Facility is beautiful, clean and well maintained.
This place is top notch. I dropped in for a class while traveling through Detroit for work. Professor Lima is awesome. He teaches in a style that is comprehensive, he takes time to mention the important details, and he is very present during class. He also personally rolls with his students which I also appreciate in an instructor. The gym was incredibly clean, fresh, and welcoming. Other students were very cool as well. Overall, the environment was great, and I’ll most definitely be back next time I’m coming through Detroit. Also, they have clean showers on site, which is always a plus when traveling.
Great place to train. I was in Detroit for three months for work and this place was my home away from home. Fabio is an absolute wealth of knowledge, and the students are all killers on the mat. On top of that, everyone is super nice. If you're in Detroit, you should be training here.
I’ve been training here for a couple of years now. This is my first gym I signed up too and I’m still here. The training here is great and the details from the instructors are amazing. The environment is very friendly all thanks to Fabio and everyone else. Also, Fabio is very supportive and would never discourage anything that could help benefit you as a martial artist as well as being a better person. He is very dedicated to his students and is willing to travel to coach one student. I am grateful for discovering 313 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Awesome place to train, the instructor is great, and overall just friendly people.
Amazing beginning of BJJ for the first time with 313 BJJ.
This gym is amazing! Fabio is a great coach, very knowledgeable and the most humble black belt I’ve ever come across. He rolls with everyone during Open Mat, even the white belts. Everyone in this gym is very friendly and welcoming to newcomers. I signed up after my first class. Best decision yet! If you’re interested in BJJ, this is hands down the best gym in the city!
I took a jiu jitsu class with Fabio Lima at 313 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu today, and it was excellent. The academy was clean and easy to find. The warm-up was fun. The other students were friendly and skilled. Fabio’s techniques were clear. We trained for an hour and a half. And we even stayed after class to work on a few specific adjustments. I am happy that I got the opportunity to meet and train with Fabio and his students. - Brendan -
Fabio Lima is an outstanding BJJ coach who has trained under Renzo Gracie, Vitor Shaolin, and then promoted to Black Belt by Marcelo Garcia. He's been a student of the game for well over a decade and has an a detailed approach to teaching Jiu-Jitsu to the novice and the experienced alike. I have personally trained and learned from Fabio for many years and cannot recommend him enough. Go train!
Such a great place to train. I came in to train with an old friend and was welcomed with smiles and opened arms. Clean facility and very friendly staff and students. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat to anyone in the area to train!
I trained at 313BJJ during a work trip, and I highly recommend this gym. Clean facilities, good training partners, and Fabio is a great instructor. I will definitely train here again next time I am in Detroit!
Fabio is a phenomenal instructor. Very friendly environment and world class instruction. Definitely a great place to go if you are in the area
A gym of ruthless grapplers that can enhance your skills. There is a pro level female mixed martial artist that can outwork a lot of fighter within that gym and every contender is in top notch physical and mental condition. 313 jiu jitsu is the place to be in order to become a great grappler.
I'm 4 classes in and I'm hooked. Sparred for the first time today, and although I was bested in every bout, I never felt any pressure from my training partners to keep going once I was exhausted. Everyone is so cool and Fabio is an absolutely amazing teacher. You won't find a better or more inclusive group than this for all age ranges. I found myself looking up to a 10 year old today for his mastery of skills I'm yet to even attempt. If you're even just thinking about giving jiu jitsu a try, give Fabio a call! You won't be disappointed!
Couldn’t be happier I found this place. I’m in Detroit frequently for business and this will be my “home away from home” any time I’m in Detroit from now on. Great group of people, everyone is kind and welcoming...in addition to being a great guy, Fabio is a fantastic teacher and his detail is phenomenal. If you’re local or traveling, do yourself a favor and go train at 313.
Friendly staff and very professional, other gyms I tried out were very aggressive and tried to take my head off the first day. I'm glad I found this place.
Definitely a place to train jiu-jitsu at! I'm from Chicago and I have been doing martial arts for 4 years. I moved to detroit for college and i joined this gym. People are very friendly here and welcoming. The good thing about this gym is that you will see progress because everyone here is really competitive and will give you a challenge when you roll with them. And there is plenty of space to roll. Fabio has a lot of good techniques and is willing to help his students learn. When its time to roll, he rolls with all belt levels. Hands down its a great gym 👍
I stopped in while visiting Detroit. Awesome group of guys to roll with, very welcoming atmosphere and hard but safe training. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Detroit!
Drop in visiting from Dublin, Ireland. Welcoming gym with a brilliant culture. Fabio is a gentleman and has a great coaching style. I wouldn't go anywhere else when I'm in Detroit.
Great techniques!! Clean and large mat space... badass location.
Learned some great back control techniques. Everyone was friendly and I got some great training rounds
My daughter an I stopped by to train and we had an amazing experience. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. Thank you so much guys
The instructors are very friendly, accessible and knowledgeable. I did not feel intimidated and learned a great deal in my time training there while visiting Family. I absolutely recommend heading in for a session!!
I visited 313BJJ while in Detroit for the day. Zander and his team were great. Everyone was was very friendly and the class was fun. Will definitely be stopping by again when I’m in town. Cheers!!!
Marcelo Garcia Black Belts! Ive enjoyed it. Everyone is happy to teach you. A lot of class times. Great instruction. Just do it.
A very great spot to train. Fabio is a Marcelo Garcia black belt and he will train right alongside you. Zander is great, he is very flexible and will work with you to suit your needs. The best thing about this is the large number of classes and the large student base. You're not going to find bjj at a better place in Detroit.
Anyone looking for a gym will not go wrong here. From your first steps in and meeting the instructors to rolling on the mats its a great experience. There are no egos, just students who wish to train, learn and teach. If you are looking for a (always) clean, great place to train look no further. I look forward to getting back!
In Detroit on business I dropped in to train. Clean, warm and well maintained gym and a friendly welcome. Instruction was excellent. There are 2 instructors one 140lb and one 270lb so they really cater for everyone. There were both male and female students. A great place to train.
Great school right in the heart of Detroit. Fabio and Zander are great instructors and were very inviting to me when I dropped in from out of town. Facility is very large and clean. Will definitely be coming back!
This is an excellent school. The instructors, curriculum, facilities, lineage and overall experience is 100%. My team mates are respectful and friendly (good atmosphere). I've been a student for about 7 months and attending class is my favorite part of my day-time routine. After 7 months I'm in incredible shape compared to when I first signed up. It's also not very crowded so I get a lot more one-on-one with my instructor. Curriculum - there is a good balance between self-defense and sport jiu-jitsu. Training is both in a uniform (Gi) and no-gi for more experienced students. Class focus is fairly equally spent on drilling new techniques, sparring and conditioning. Instructors - two great instructors that have a passion for the art and passing on their years of knowledge. Zander and Fabio have studied under the world's best jiu-jitsu practitioners (Gracie Family and Marcelo Garcia). They are good at explaining the technique portion of the class and correcting bad form until we have it nailed. They've really helped me in deconstructing the anatomy of a street fight from a tangling mess of flailing limbs into a rational system of self-defense Schedule - multiple classes per day to fit most schedules (including 7:00 am Monday, Wednesday, Friday) Facilities - parking is great, secured location downtown (it's perfect for me [an office worker]), mats are clean, they have bathrooms and a shower facility. Intro class - if you are unsure, I would just ask for the free intro/eval class which is designed for someone to walk in off the street and take, no uniform or prior experienced needed. The free intro class pretty much had me hooked. Fabio taught me how to deal with someone who attacks me while I'm sunbathing at the beach. How cool is that? Downsides? My work clothes don't fit anymore. I have to synch up my belt because I went from size 38 to 32 pants.
Nothing needs to be said. If you're about that life, this is where you need to go.
Fabio and Zander (the instructors/owners) are two very high level jiu jitsu guys who are also top quality teachers - they put careful attention, effort, and care into their students' learning, and see to it that they improve. Best place to train jiu jitsu in Detroit. Also, the mats are kept really clean.
Amazing location and incredibly helpful teachers! I trained with them during my visit to Detroit and the hospitality they showed was heart-melting. The training was intense and the training partners really skillful. Definitely recommended!
I met Zander (one of the owners/instructors) in the fall. He told me he was opening a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gym and that I should check it out. I had never heard of BJJ before and when I found out what it was I thought “NO WAY IN HELL AND I EVER GOING TO STEP FOOT IN THAT GYM!” After further discussions with Zander and doing some research on line I was intrigued by the sport and decided to break out of my comfort zone and give it a try. Obviously, I cannot compare them to other gyms but I can say that as a 41-year-old walking in off the street with NO fighting/martial art knowledge, I couldn’t be happier with my decision. First, both Zander and Fabio are extremely friendly and welcoming and the vibe of the gym is not macho at all. They are great at breaking down the moves and teaching them in a way that is easy to grasp. If you’re not catching on to something right way they work with you personally until you’ve got it. They take these smaller moves and build them into sequences replicating real life situations and at the end of each class you feel empowered! The gym is super clean. With unlimited classes, you definitely get your money’s worth.
Great place to train! I cannot say enough good things about this place, the level of instruction is great, Fabio and Zander are the best! The training environment is awesome and supportive and most important of all welcoming to newbies. So if you are interested you should definitely (they offer a free intro class) check it out and join the team!
good professional instructors and the place was clean very clean!!!!
I dropped in for a class tonight and the experience was phenomenal. Everyone was very courteous, hospitable and friendly. The instruction was extremely detailed and attentive. Zander and Fabio are very passionate about jujitsu and spreading the art. Definitely check them out for your BJJ needs in Detroit.
I'm partial because I am one of the owners brothers but I came in today for an open mat and actually learned alot. The other students were super nice and quick to help with any questions when my bro was busy. I really liked the layout and cleanliness of the gym. Proud bro!
These guys have a ton of experience and knowledge of championship level jiujitsu. Plenty of mat space & wonderful training. I'd recommend everyone interested in learning Brazilian Jiujitsu or even if you want to get in great shape check out 313 jiujitsu
Zander and Fabio are awesome instructors! They are great with all skill levels. They will challenge you both mentally and physically in order to help you improve your skills each and every session. I happen to be newer and they both have taken the time to give me special attention to work on my weak areas. This is important because the technical aspects of the art are crucial to learn properly. They are really effective at making the learning experience enjoyable while also providing an awesome workout. You will get in shape!!!! Another plus is that I like everyone I have met in the class. I would recommend 313 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to anyone!
My family and I were visiting the in-laws for the holidays in Detroit. Looking for a place to drop in at, I found 313 BJJ. I'm shocked at what a lucky break I caught. These guys have started a great school. Clean environment with a large mat space. But most importantly the Instructors were awesome. Zander Heinen and Fabio Lima are excellent teachers, having trained under Marcelo Garcia for 6 years. They broke downs some very complicated deep half guard positions and escapes, taking their time with the instruction. The school is easy to get to, it's right off the highway near the Motor City Casino. I truly wish these guys the best with their school, they have all the right things in place. My only regret is wishing I lived closer to train under them more consistently. Oss!
Great place to train! The classes are fun and challenging from the warm up all the way through to the rolling at the end, and all in a clean environment supervised by experienced instructors that have competed and trained at the highest levels. There is a large secure parking lot in the back and there are showers available. If you're interested in learning jiu jitsu you owe it to yourself to try this place out.
Been training here since it opened. Its in a convenient location, clean, and the instruction is top drawer. Ive learned self defense, leverage, balanced movement/philosophy, and had some great workouts. Definitely my jiu-jitsu home!
Took the Intro class with Zander today, he was awesome, took his time to thoroughly explain everything we were doing and go over correct technique before moving on, starting regular classes Monday!
