Always have a wonderful time training at this location! The coaches go through each step of the process very carefully with the students and are there to assist as needed. One of the better schools I train at while traveling and would recommend, if you are in Detroit for work or pleasure, stop in here to get some great rolls and training in!

10p Downtown Detroit is amazing! Such a beautiful facility with all the amenities you’d want and more! Coaches Wayne and Tracy are some of the best people I’ve ever met! There are classes offered 6 days a week, a Gi class on Fridays evenings, a women’s only class on Saturday mornings, and open mat in Livonia on Sundays! Please check out 10p Downtown Detroit! Best Jiu-Jistu gym around. Cannot beat the wealth of knowledge and experience of the 2 black-belt coaches and the best brown-belt this side of the Mississippi. Not only is the Jiu-Jistu great but the best culture too. No ego training, everyone here is 100% a student of martial arts and just loves training and experimenting. If you're looking for a gym to either start training or in the area for travel, this is the gym to be at!
In town on military duty and got to train with a few of the guys and gals here, great group of athletes. Very welcoming, a ton of fun to train with, and very healthy gym culture. Great place to train!
Stopped in for an open mat and had an absolute blast. All the students were skilled, casual and awesome. The coach obviously has built an incredible culture with a balanced approach for hobbyist safety and competitive drive.

The culture at this gym is amazing. Everyone supports their teammates and trains sincerely. It is clear that Coach Tracy and Coach Wayne really care about each student whether they are an active competitor or a hobbyist. There are no politics and everyone works to create a welcoming environment for old and new students alike. I love training here and am so grateful that they took me in after my original gym closed in 2020. And to top it all off the techniques and strategies they teach are world class and a fantastic representation of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu. 10PDET4L
A few months ago I attempted to 'drop-in' to this location as a visiting student (normally train outside 10th planet network). Tracy was at the desk and explained that they don't really do drop-ins anymore in order to protect their students from people coming in with something to prove at the expense of his students. He explained the situation in a way that made it evident he is a really caring and responsible owner / Professor. Ultimately I had an instructor in common with one of his students and I explained I was most certainly not there to crank on some unsuspecting whitebelt. Once 'approved' to train I was treated to a fantastic beginners class with only two other students. They were great, the instruction from Tracy was about grips and breaking grips and I utilize that lesson frequently. In summary if I lived in Detroit i would be delighted to train here. If you're interested in jiujitsu but concerned about injury or intimidation this is the place for you. The class after mine had a few seemingly strong men and women as well so I'm sure theres plenty to keep the upper belts engaged too.

I had a wonderful experience. I dropped in when I was visiting from out of town on their Friday evening Gi class. I believe it was Professor Ten teaching. It was a 90 minute class, and he covered some X guard fundamentals. It was a very good class, and I learned a lot. The training partners were great. I drilled with someone around my size and skill level and I got to roll with everyone. Everyone was very skilled and clearly took JJ seriously. I would highly recommend dropping in, if you’re visiting and looking for a place to train.
10P Detroit was my introduction to jiu jitsu and I’m forever grateful this gym has found it’s way into my life. Coach Tracy Dawson expresses his love and passion for the sport and his people every day. I’m biased, recommend checking us out if you have any interest at all!

Tracy and the team at 10th Planet Detroit were nothing short of spectacular! Tracy was so patient and invested in making sure each student had the direct interaction and instruction to be successful. Not only this, he’s also just a great guy to be around and incredibly knowledgeable. The students were also top notch and provided an incredible experience and great rolls. I’m visiting this gym from Knoxville Tennessee and can’t wait to come back. If you’re in Detroit and not training Jiu Jitsu, you’re seriously doing yourself a disservice. If you’re on the fence, trust me and just show up. You’ll be thankful you did.
I travel for work and have trained at around 50 gyms world wide. 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Downtown is easily in the top 3. 10th Planet gyms are among the very best, and rightly so, whether you are looking for tournament competition, self-defense or fitness. Because of that, they are very popular, and it is really unheard of to find classes this small with a black belt instructor who is going to spend that much more time with you. The instructor here is Tracy Dawson, and I challenge you to spend an hour with him and his students and not be inspired, regardless of your experience level. If you live nearby, you're sitting on a goldmine and you've got to try it. If you don't live nearby, downtown Detroit is a great place to visit, and this is one more reason.
Coach Tracy is very knowledgeable and an excellent instructor. I’m very happy to have the privilege to train with such an awesome group of people.
