Dropped in from out of town and had an awesome experience at this gym. I reached out about dropping into a class and they got back to me super fast. They were incredibly friendly and even gave me suggestions on places to eat and things to do in town. The class itself was great — really solid instruction and a very welcoming vibe. Logan (the owner) and Matt were both excellent, and you can tell they’ve built a great culture there. Rolling was technical, safe, and challenging in the best way. If you live in the Westminster, MD area and are thinking about starting jiu jitsu — or if you’re just passing through — I highly recommend stopping in. Super welcoming group and I’d absolutely train there again if I’m back in town.
Posted 6 months agoGreat gym at a nice location in downtown Westminster. Easy parking, welcoming atmosphere, and skilled coaches and teammates. Highly recommend.
Posted 1 year ago150 Grappling offers an ideal environment for training and learning jiu-jitsu, for those of any experience level and age. The instruction you receive is top tier, with a curriculum that meets the needs of both the movie and the experienced grappler alike. What makes 150 Grappling special, though, is the community of its members. We have an eclectic group of all age ranges, folks from different backgrounds, all looking for that something special that jiu-jitsu provides to each individual. I couldn't think of training anywhere else...period.
Curriculum The coaches at 150 Grappling follow a carefully designed, predetermined curriculum. Warm-ups are jiu jitsu focused and useful in practice. 150 enhances jiu jitsu lessons with high level wrestling skills. Classes Classes are offered in gi and no-gi. Jiu Jitsu is usually available seven days a week with times suited to various personal schedules. The training area features padded mats that allow for safe sweep and takedown drills. Cleanliness Mats are cleaned and sanitized after training sessions; deep cleaning is also accomplished periodically. Practitioners adhere to strict sanitary practices when entering and exiting the training area. Expect a very clean training environment.
Joining 150 has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Logan and Matt are amazing teachers and I have been able to learn so much from them. Great atmosphere, great jiu jitsu, and so much fun!
I have been a member of 150 Grappling for one year now. I had never tried martial arts before joining and I could not be happier with my experience at 150 Grappling. Everyone has been super welcoming, helpful and patient with me. I love the class structure and their attention to detail. Logan and Matt are amazing and make it clear that they are eager for everyone to improve their skills because it makes everyone else better too. The mats are nice and they keep everything very clean. I could not imagine myself anywhere else. I can't wait to see what year 2 brings for me. Hugs and chokes mostly I guess.
I have been training at 150 for a few weeks and I'm really happy with my decision to commit to this. It's not easy, as a 43 year old female, to pursue martial arts for the first time but everyone at this gym is amazing. I really appreciate that they offer a novice class and open mat time to practice some things at my own pace. I have got a lot to learn, but I know the instruction I will get here is far superior to other local schools.
At 44 years young. I finally decided to make the commitment and commit to BJJ. This has been a desire of mine for about 20 years and would be my first combat sport ever. After 9 years of running long distances, my mind and body was asking for something different. From my first interaction with the owners / instructors at 150 it was very informative and with no pressure at all. I was advised to visit other schools and take classes where ever possible. After a few other interactions with 150 and visiting other schools it was a no brainer and I committed to 150! Best decision I have made and now about 5 - 6 weeks in I can’t get enough! The owners are true leaders and it’s evident with the community they have built. Everyone I have trained with ranging all different levels and ages, have been nothing but supportive! It’s only been just over a month and I could already tell this is home for me! Thank you 150! Pumped for the journey ahead! 🙏🏼🤙🏼
Great vibes and heavy jujitsu. Nice mats and good training partners. Definitely a great place to learn the art of grappling
Great gym to train at with great people! I attended a Sunday open mat and everyone was nice with some great rolls!
Logan and Matt are the most skilled and dedicated teachers you can find. The mats are always clean, the vibe is always great, and you never leave without feeling better. My teenage son and I started training together earlier this year, and it's had nothing but positive affects on both our relationship and our individual confidence.
Our son has been in the youth program for almost a year and absolutely loves it! Matt and Logan are so great with the young kids - they've created a fun and positive environment. Definitely worth looking into if you're interested in BJJ.
Fantastic gym. Logan and Matt are both great instructors who also compete at the highest levels. Very welcoming atmosphere, lots of great people and always kept very clean. Class is always structured in a way that makes sense week to week, and helps you build great fundamentals if you are a beginner. Best BJJ in Carroll county!!
Awesome gym! Challenging and fun place to learn grappling
Best BJJ gym in Maryland. Like many others, I suffer from confidence issues. 150 Grappling has restored my confidence and helped me get back into shape both mentally and physically. Matt and Logan are the best. They are always positive and reassuring. You’ll never hear them put you down or make you feel unwelcome. I’d give 10 stars if I could.
You'll find no better place for learning jiu-jitsu than 150 grappling. The coaches are incredibly detailed in their approach to demonstrating techniques and take the time to ensure you're progressing properly. Great group of people.
I was a weary traveler passing through town. They provided not only a hot meal to eat and a pillow for my head, but also friendly smiles and good companionship for my stay. 12/10. Would recommend, and would gladly shout it from the roof tops.
Great place to learn and get better at grappling
Amazing atmosphere, great rolls and top tier technique. If you're in the area stop by.
150 is a great academy to train and learn jiujitsu and wrestling. As a fellow academy owner myself, I highly recommend these guys. Matt and Logan are both very good instructors with a wealth of knowledge.
Don't let these handsome faces fool you ladies! This place has the experience to train you right!
Fantastic quality of instruction for anyone wanting to learn jiu-jitsu. Extremely qualified coaches who work relentlessly to improve everyone on the mat.
Great place to learn jiu-jitsu and grappling. Knowledgeable and professional staff in a conveniently located part of Westminster. Slowly working on that summer body and 150 will get me there!
150 Grappling is a great place to learn and continue Jiu Jitsu. Matt Malone and Logan Yox are tremendous instructors. The facility is awesome!!
I used to want to be a wizard. Now, I want to be an assassin. All thanks to this wonderful jiujitsu place. Not very magical, but more choke choke. Come at me now Gandalf.
Great coaches, welcoming atmosphere, quality jiu-jitsu!
If you can't make it out to the valley and you want to learn how to be a badass AND get the babe, then come learn JiuJitsu here
The next time dragons are in my homeland, I am prepared to show them my new Jiujitsu skills. I am confident they will not care, but at least I can say I learned one thing before my body is charred into a brittle black husk.
I used to be an assistant instructor at a Gracie Jiu Jitsu location in Virginia. I was passing through the area to see some family and decided to stop by for a quick session. Logan and Matt were very welcoming and offered me to use one of their spare uniforms so I could get the full experience. I'm definitely going to make them a regular stop when I drive through to visit my family from now on. Thanks guys! You rock!
i found the love of my life here and that love is jujitsu
At my last JiuJitsu tournament Grievous and Dooku both wiped the floor with me. After training here, the next All Valley Tournament won't know what hit 'em.
I erect the spine of enthusiasm and extend the claw of discipline at the prospect of perfecting my JiuJitsu here.
They say Westminster got hit by a dragon. One of those horrors comes here, we'll be ready because of the JiuJitsu.
I was Luke Yox's high school bully not "Kyle" he acts like I don't know he means me. I am afraid he will surpass me in physical superiority since he enrolled in classes here. He also will probably steal my woman as my never-ending quest to reach level 2000 in Cod Zombies has made me put on a few lbs and he gona lose alot of weight and become more self-confident. I wanted to learn jiu-jitsu from this great group of coaches and get in shape so I signed up. Yelling hi-yah and threatening to chop people in half like a block of wood that I learned from karate when I was 6 isn't practical for me anymore to scare enemies. I need to evolve with the times and learn the most practical martial art for self defense. I will out work Luke Yox to earn my yellow belt so I can maintain my dominance over him by attending this great house of grappling.
Very jujitsu. Much wow. 5/5. Will go again.
If you want to start (or continue) learning Jiu-Jitsu please give these guys a look. Great group and the owners are some of the best people you will ever come across.
Great group of people!!!! If you are thinking about learning BJJ, or want a fun way to get in shape this is where you want to go!
