Hands down one of the best Jiu-Jitsu gyms I’ve visited. I’m from the Bay Area and visit many Jiu-Jitsu gyms whiling traveling for work. 10th planet Scottsdale was such a pleasure to train at. The owner and head coach Steeyle Levine was welcoming, attentive, and created a great place to learn and train. High level training partners and beautiful clean gym. I recommend anyone visiting this part of AZ to stop by and do a private with Steeyle if you have the time. If you live in the area and are considering training BJJ, join this gym!

Steele is the man, he has created an environment that is hard-working yet very fun. If this was closer to me, I think I'd be a regular. Drop in's are only 25$?!! After 8 months of training at 10th Planet Scottsdale, it's time I leave a well deserved 5 star review. In the time that I've been training, I've fallen in love with jiu jitsu. Note I'm one of the 6 am regulars, and the people I've met and skills I've picked up have been awesome. There's some really skilled people here, and some people like me that are newbies. Solid instructors, great prices, and lots of killers on the mats. Lots of Jiu Jitsu schools are stuck in the past with old school warm ups and odd rules that apply differently to different levels of persons, but not here. White belt or black, once you get on the mats it’s time to learn advanced techniques from day one and hit that ground running!

I was in Scottsdale for a conference and wanted to catch a class as a drop in. I’ve never been to a 10th planet before so naturally I was a bit nervous. After showing up, I was greeted with open arms by both the instructor and the students. Everyone was so friendly and understanding that their methods were much different than what I’ve done in the past. They walked me through everything step by step and even gave me a few pointers along the way. Although I’m very happy in my current academy in NJ, I’m a little jealous that the locals have such a cool place to train. Before deciding to start a membership, I participated in drop-ins and trial classes at a couple other gyms, but after my free trial class at 10th Planet Scottsdale, I knew this was where I wanted to train. I feel that 10th Planet Scottsdale has the BEST gym culture in the state. Everyone I’ve met has been friendly and willing to help. I feel as if I improve every single day I go there - and on top of that Steeyle is great coach and wants to help everyone be the best jiu jitsu athlete they can be. Started off learning Jiu Jitsu quite nervous and not really knowing what to expect. Coach Steeyle has been great with taking his time to teach the new people even throughout very busy nights. This is a gym where members get together to train hard but still make friendships with people from all walks of life. The schedule is filled with classes throughout the day/week, yoga classes are great, cold plunge/sauna available, and it is always kept clean. This gym has always provided me with great training partners and laughs. I always feel better after training here. Great gym and I would highly recommend trying out the free class.

Of the 7+ gyms I’ve trained at/dropped into across ~2.5 years of training, this is the coolest. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a gym in the area. The cold plunge, sauna, nice mats, etc. are all just icing on the cake. It’s the attentive instruction and friendly culture that set this gym apart. Having trained at multiple traditional, gi-oriented BJJ gyms in the valley before, I can say 10th Planet is by far the best in every aspect. No unnecessarily expensive membership prices, no illogical rules that force you to train their way, no condescending purple belts that think there’s only one way to learn Jiu Jitsu and thus you’re doing everything wrong, no strict coach that yells at you for not wearing their expensive branded rash guard that no one can even see under their expensive branded gi. Just chill vibes and a safe environment where you’re allowed to train whatever technique or style you want because you saw it work well when Craig Jones did it on their YouTube channel. Wear literally anything you want and come in to get that work in, and know you’ll have a fantastic coach on your back when you need him most. And then go rest and recover in the sauna or cold plunge afterwards followed by a shower there because what else doesn’t this gym have. 10th Planet is an amazing community so come train nogi-exclusive and see why this gym is always packed on the mats!

If you’re thinking about trying 10th Planet Scottsdale, do it! I’ve tried a few other Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gyms, and there is just no better place to start than 10th Planet and this gym in particular. The atmosphere is fun, and Steeyle the owner is on top of things. There is a freaking sauna, an ice bath thing, just a ton of stuff. My son and I train here and it is the best. It doesn't matter your level of jiu jitsu you are at. Steeyle and his coaches are always learning, evolving, and teaching us. The atmosphere is great. Its laid back, but still offers high level techniques. Steeyle also keeps reinvesting back into us with things like the cold plunge and a sauna which significantly promotes muscle recovery, increased fat loss, and lowers cortisol levels. You just need to come check it out. If you are looking to compete, pick up a new hobby or learn self defense I would highly recommend 10th Planet Scottsdale. I took free trials at 4 other gyms in the area when I moved to town. The environment and culture Steeyle has put in place is just unmatched. Regardless of the goals for your bjj journey, Steeyle and his coaches are there to help you along the way. The payment/pricing options and packages just made the most sense. Other gyms offered less classes at a higher rate and require you to buy their training gear. 10P Scottsdale is the exact opposite. Flexible packages and all you need is a tee shirt and shorts. No upsells or overpriced memberships, just legit training and a great group of guys.

I popped in here to take a class while I was visiting the area and Steeyle was teaching. He was extremely welcoming and chatted with a few of us who were there for the first time. The space was VERY clean. The way he structured the class was about a half hour of technique and then a half hour of rolling. The instruction was top notch and Steeyle went around and gave everyone some individual attention which was very much appreciated. All of the rolling partners were very friendly and no spazzy-ness whatsoever. If I lived here this is definitely where I would train.

There are many schools close to me but I drive over 30 miles one way just to learn from Steeyle. Sign up, sign your family up and you won't be disappointed!

10th planet Scottsdale is a judgement free zone, where you can hang out with like minded people and choke people out in the process. If you don’t like monotonous training, 10th planet is the place for you. I’ve trained all over this country and have learned a lot of things and I feel most comfortable at any 10th planet gym. This place rocks!!!

Steeyle is an amazing coach, what he is building in this gym goes beyond just showing up for class. 9 months ago I was hesitant to walk in solely on not knowing anyone, it took my two gym rat siblings visiting to drag me to the mat and I haven't looked back since. Steeyle's knowledge of jiujitsu is top notch, no matter your skill level. And everyone in the gym is pretty amazing too, the 10p culture is one big family. Don't wait, don't hesitate, jump in! 😉

He creates a positive atmosphere for growth on and off the mat. The academy is very well maintained and practices thorough sanitation. 10th Planet Scottsdale is a family run business with a competitive culture that pushes you while maintaining a friendly atmosphere among instructors and students. Whether if you want to get in shape, learn self defense or try something new, I cannot recommend this academy enough!
