I recently had the pleasure of training at 10th Planet San Jose for a month while cross-training, and I can't recommend it enough! From the moment I stepped through the doors, Alan Sanchez, the owner and coach, made me feel incredibly welcome. His approachable demeanor created an inviting atmosphere that made it easy to settle in. Alan truly stands out as a teacher. He not only demonstrates a deep knowledge of Jiu Jitsu but also invests personal effort and care into every student, regardless of their skill level. During my time there, I felt that same level of dedication directed toward me. He was always available to answer questions, clarify techniques, and engage in meaningful discussions about the art. What impressed me most was his commitment to ensuring that everyone understands the material. Alan's enthusiasm for Jiu Jitsu is contagious, and his ability to break down complex concepts into digestible pieces is a testament to his skill as an instructor. Overall, my experience at 10th Planet San Jose has been enriching, and I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to train under such a passionate and knowledgeable coach. If you're considering a gym to train at, I highly encourage you to check out 10th Planet San Jose—you won’t regret it!

Posted 4 months agoAlan is one of the best instructors I've ever had! For new / beginner students, Alan is super patient and always thoughtful in facilitating fun yet technical classes. It's really up to you how far you want to take your training, but you'll definitely have a great time! For intermediate / advance students, it's amazing to have a world class competitor as a teacher. Alan has opened up my game to new techniques / new ways to approach jiu jitsu, and his love for for the sport is contagious. I have grown to love jiu jitsu even more!
Posted 10 months agoAlan's classes are awesome! His technique is super detail oriented, and doesn't rely on any crazy physical attributes. He also practices what he preaches, and regularly shows that what he teaches works on the highest levels by competing at plenty of high profile events. The Bay Area is lucky to have such a respected and experienced instructor and competitor.
