Tucson has a steady BJJ tournament calendar, led by local events. The Old Pueblo Jiu-Jitsu Open is the most established series, including its Winter Classic, and the Pro Open BJJ Tucson has also run here.
United Grappling holds events in Tucson in November, and IJV Promotions has also run competitions in the city. IBJJF rules are the most commonly listed ruleset, and single elimination is the usual bracket format.
Just over half of events include Gi divisions and around a third offer No-Gi. Around a third include kids divisions, and a similar share have an absolute division. November is the busiest month, followed by September, with further events in January, May and October.
