San Juan is the main hub for jiu jitsu competition in Puerto Rico, and this page lists upcoming BJJ tournaments in and around the city. Recurring events include the Puerto Rico BJJ Nationals, the CGP BJJ Open and CGP No-Gi Open from Caribbean Grappling Promotions, the AGF San Juan Championships and the International Kids Challenge. Nearby Gurabo and Barceloneta have also hosted events.
Gi divisions are the most common, offered at around six in ten events, while No-Gi appears at roughly three in ten. Kids divisions are less frequent, though the International Kids Challenge is aimed at younger competitors and female athletes. IBJJF rules are used at some events. November is by far the busiest month, with further tournaments in September and May.
