San Jose is one of the busiest tournament cities in the Bay Area. United Grappling, NAGA and Grappling Industries all hold regular San Jose events, and Tap Cancer Out runs its San Jose BJJ Open here.
Grappling X brings the South Bay Jiu Jitsu Championships to the city, and some events take place in nearby Santa Clara and Fremont. November and October are the busiest months, followed by March, September and April.
Gi divisions are slightly more common than No-Gi, and around a third of events include kids divisions, with a similar share offering an absolute division. IBJJF rules are used at some events. Entry typically costs around $30–$134, with larger opens at the higher end.
