Philadelphia is one of the busiest BJJ tournament cities in Pennsylvania. Grappling Industries Philadelphia is by far the most frequent event, running several times a year with round-robin brackets.
NAGA Philadelphia Grappling Championship, the Tap Cancer Out Philadelphia BJJ Open and the Liberty Bell tournament return regularly, and United Grappling holds several Philadelphia events each year. NEWBREED's Philadelphia Spring Championship and Good Fight's Tournament of Brotherly Love have also run here. Some events in the area are held in nearby Rosemont, Chester and Newtown Square.
Gi and No-Gi divisions are each offered at a little under half of events, and around four in ten include kids divisions and absolute divisions. Entry starts at around $30 at a typical event. October is the busiest month, followed by January, September, July and April.
