Ottawa has a regular calendar of BJJ tournaments for Gi and No-Gi grapplers. The Ottawa BJJ Open is the most frequent series, with seasonal editions including the Ottawa BJJ Fall Open and Winter Open. Submission Arts United brings its Canadian Eastern Championships to the city, and the Ontario Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championship also holds a Gi and No-Gi event in Ottawa.
All Submission Grappling runs the ASG Lansdowne Open, and the Ontario Submission Series stops in Ottawa as well. Together these give local competitors several chances each year to compete, from local opens to larger regional championships. Upcoming events are listed on this page as soon as organisers announce them.
Gi divisions are offered at around two thirds of events and No-Gi at just over half. Kids divisions feature at around two in five events, and roughly a third include an absolute division. Double elimination brackets and custom house rules both appear. Adult entry usually costs around C$50–C$115. October and November are the busiest months, followed by March and June.
