Little Rock is the main BJJ competition stop in Arkansas, with nearly all events in the city and occasional events in nearby Sherwood. Submission Challenge runs several events a year, NEWBREED holds fall and spring championships, and FUJI BJJ runs the Arkansas Summer Championships. The NAGA Little Rock Grappling Championship also visits.
Most events offer Gi and No-Gi divisions, over half include an absolute division and around three in ten have kids divisions. EBI-style overtime rules and double-elimination brackets are used at some events. Entry is typically around $25–$170. November is the busiest month, followed by July and August.
