Huntsville has a small but regular BJJ competition calendar, with most events held in the city itself and a few in nearby Madison and Decatur. Recurring tournaments include the Chewjitsu Open Huntsville, the Good Fight Alabama Winter and Summer Opens, the AGF Huntsville Championships and the One Tribe Combat Submission Showdown, which also runs as an in-house event.
Gi and No-Gi divisions are both widely offered, and around a quarter of events include kids divisions. About one in five events has an absolute division. Events are spread across the year, with January, February, May, August and October among the more active months.
