Grand Rapids is the main BJJ tournament location in West Michigan, with a regular calendar of national circuit and local events. An occasional event runs in nearby Grandville.
Grappling Industries Grand Rapids is the most frequent recurring event. FUJI BJJ holds its Grand Rapids Summer Championship here, Believe Jiu Jitsu runs local events, and NAGA, Newbreed and United Grappling also bring tournaments to the city.
Around half of events offer Gi divisions and around half offer No-Gi, and a similar share include kids divisions and an absolute division. Round-robin brackets are common. Entry usually costs around $30–$90. October is the busiest month, followed by April, August, June and November.
