Fredericksburg has a small but varied BJJ tournament calendar in Virginia. Controlled Combat runs youth and adult jiu jitsu grappling events here, and NEWBREED holds its Fredericksburg Spring Championship in the city. The Good Fight Virginia Summer Open and MDL Fredericksburg have also been held here.
Most events offer both Gi and No-Gi divisions, around half include kids divisions and about two in three have an absolute division. Controlled Combat events use round-robin brackets under house rules. October is the busiest month, with further events in May, June, July and November.
