EVENT INFORMATION

The Limassol Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2026 is an international Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament for Gi and No-Gi divisions, organized in accordance with the official IBJJF rules and standards.

The event is open to athletes of all experience levels and aims to provide a professional, fair, and well-organized competitive environment.

The championship is open to:

  • Kids
  • Teens
  • Adults
  • Masters divisions

All brackets will be organized according to:

  • Age
  • Weight
  • Belt level
  • Discipline (Gi / No-Gi)

COMPETITION FORMAT

Official IBJJF Rules

All matches will be conducted under the current IBJJF rules, including:

  • Scoring system
  • Advantages and penalties
  • Legal and illegal techniques
  • Match duration
  • Weight divisions
  • Uniform requirements
  • Belt eligibility

Category Merging

The organizer reserves the right to:

  • Combine or restructure divisions;
  • Merge categories by age, weight, belt level, or experience level;
  • Modify brackets and schedules when necessary to ensure balanced and competitive divisions.

If a division does not have a sufficient number of participants, categories may be merged at the organizer's discretion.

The organizer also reserves the right to close registration early once the maximum event capacity has been reached.

Kids & Teens Divisions

Children's divisions are separated by:

  • Age

  • Experience level

Grey Belts β€“ Intermediate

Yellow / Orange / Green Belts β€“ Advanced & Elite

Categories with insufficient participants may be merged.

Adult & Masters Divisions

ABSOLUTE DIVISIONS

Athletes may additionally register for the Absolute Division.

WEIGH-IN RULES

Gi Divisions

Athletes must weigh in wearing a full Gi.

No-Gi Divisions

Athletes must weigh in wearing an approved No-Gi uniform.

Athletes registered in both disciplines must complete weigh-ins according to the requirements of each division.

Only one official weigh-in attempt is permitted.

Athletes exceeding the weight limit will be disqualified.

Kids divisions (up to 12 years old):

+250 g allowance

Gi Requirements

Permitted Gi colors:

  • White
  • Blue
  • Black

Mixed-color Gis are not permitted.

All uniforms must comply with IBJJF standards.

No-Gi Requirements

Approved attire:

  • Rashguard
  • Grappling shorts

T-shirts are not permitted.

No-Gi uniforms must comply with IBJJF standards.

REFUND POLICY

Refund requests are accepted according to the following structure:

  • Until the end of Early Registration – 90%
  • Until the end of Standard Registration – 75%
  • Until the end of Late Registration – 50%

Athletes are strongly advised to arrive at least 90 minutes before their scheduled division.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

All athletes must comply with:

  • Official IBJJF regulations
  • Age and belt eligibility requirements
  • Uniform requirements
  • Registration deadlines

Athletes with significant experience in wrestling, judo, sambo, MMA, or other grappling disciplines are not permitted to compete in beginner divisions unless approved by the organizer.

Registration in multiple weight categories within the same discipline is prohibited.

Participants may be required to present:

  • Passport
  • National ID card
