This event follows IBJJF-style rules, with age-appropriate submissions.
Event-Specific Rule Differences
β’ Double Guard Pull Rule:
In a double guard pull, the first athlete to stand up and establish top position will receive 2 points.
β’ No Advantages:
Matches are decided by points, penalties, or referee decision only.
β’ Last Score Wins (Tiebreaker):
If a match ends tied on points with no penalties, the athlete who scored last wins.

If all competitors finish with one win and one loss, placements will be decided by:
1. Most wins by submission
2. Fastest submission
3. Highest total points (all matches)
4. Most wins by points

How much is registration and how do I register?
Registration is through Smoothcomp only. Prices are Early Bird $50, Regular Registration $70, and Late fee $85; there is no on-site or same-day registration.
What divisions are offered?
Kids and teens divisions include Pee Wee, Kids, and Teens ages 4–15, plus Juveniles ages 16–17. Adults and Masters divisions are by belt level and age.
Can boys and girls compete together?
No. Boys and girls will not compete together.
Can divisions be merged?
Yes. If a division has low registration, similar divisions may be merged for safety and match quality.
What bracket format will be used?
Brackets are single elimination. Some divisions may run as round-robin to ensure more mat time for athletes.
What are the match times?
Pee Wee I & II ages 4–7 are 2 minutes, Kids I ages 8–9 are 3 minutes, Kids II & III ages 10–15 are 4 minutes, and Juveniles, Adults & Masters are 5 minutes.
When are weigh-ins?
All weigh-ins are on the day of the event. Kids & Teens weigh in from 8:00–8:45 AM, and adults start at 9:00 AM; weigh-ins are without the Gi, unless otherwise stated on Smoothcomp.
What are the Gi and hygiene requirements?
Competitors must wear a clean, proper-fitting Gi in White, Blue, or Black, and the belt must match rank. Proper hygiene is required; long nails and contagious skin conditions are not allowed.
