Bali Grappling Championship - Youth Gi Edition

Description
The Bali Grappling Championship: Youth Gi Edition is a charity tournament for young jiu-jitsu athletes in Bali, but open to every child everywhere. No gym politics, no big-event pressure: just good matches with the whole community cheering.
A portion of the entry fee and 100% of sponsorship and raffle tickets goes to Little Steps Matter, a registered Bali animal welfare non-profit, funding sterilisation and vaccination of Bali's street dogs.

Coaches, bring your whole team. First-timers are welcome, and so are athletes with a few tournaments behind them.
ELIGIBILITY
β Open to athletes ages 6β17 as of November 14, 2026.
β All gi belt levels welcome; belt must be declared honestly at registration and matches the belt worn on the mat.
β Every athlete needs a signed parent/guardian waiver and medical consent form, submitted before check-in.
DIVISIONS
β Age brackets: 6β7, 8β9, 10β11, 12β13, 14β15, 16β17
β Belt groups (ages 6β13): Beginner (white), Intermediate (grey/yellow), Advanced (orange/green)
β Belt groups (ages 14β15): White, and GreyβYellowβOrangeβGreen combined
β Belt groups (ages 16β17): White, and Blue-and-above combined
β Weight brackets are assigned after registration closes, based on declared weight at sign-up, with final weight confirmed at on-site weigh-in. A tolerance of approximately 3kg for under-12s and 4β5kg for teens applies
β The organizer reserves the right to combine, split, or adjust brackets for competitor safety and fairness if numbers are uneven

β Gi only. Standard IBJJF-legal gi and belt required
β Round Robin
β Match length: up to 13yo = 3 min Β· 14β17yo = 5 min
SCORING SYSTEM
Takedown - 2 pts
Guard Pass - 3 pts
Sweep - 2 pts
Mount - 4 pts
Back Control - 4 pts
RULES
β Competitors are allowed to win by submission using techniques permitted for their age and division
β A competitor may verbally submit or tap to signal submission
β The referee may stop the match at any time if they determine that a submission is fully secured and the competitor has no reasonable opportunity to escape safely.
β The referee's priority is the safety of the athletes.
β Once the referee stops the match, the submission is considered valid and the match is over.
β Illegal techniques will follow the applicable IBJJF rules for the competitor's age division.
β Referees may stop an action immediately if they consider it dangerous or outside the permitted techniques for that division.
β The referee has the final decision regarding illegal techniques and athlete safety.
Check-in and Weigh-in
β All athletes must check in and weigh in at least 60β90 minutes before their division's scheduled start
βPhoto ID or birth certificate may be requested to confirm age
βGi check happens at weigh-in β damaged, oversized, or non-compliant gis must be corrected before competing
Conduct
β Unsportsmanlike conduct by an athlete, coach, or parent (verbal abuse of officials, opponents, or other competitors) can result in disqualification
β Coaches may coach from mat-side only when called; excessive coaching or entering the mat area without permission may result in a warning or point deduction for their athlete
Safety
β A medic is on-site for the full event
β Any athlete showing signs of injury will be pulled from competition at the referee's or medic's discretion, regardless of the athlete's or parent's wishes
Refunds
β Entry fees are non-refundable but transferable to another athlete until Nov 7.
Charity
β Not-for-profit. Once basic costs are covered (registration, medal and t-shirt), everything we raise goes to Little Steps Matter. Little Steps Matter is a registered Bali non-profit that feeds, sterilises, vaccinates, rescues and rehomes street dogs and cats.
