βοΈ WEIGH-IN PROTOCOL
To ensure a professional and stress-free environment for our young athletes, parents, and coaches, please read our official weigh-in rules carefully:
π 1. Timing & Schedule
- Continuous Weigh-ins: Scales open at 09:00 AM and will run continuously throughout the entire day.
- The 1-Hour Window: Athletes must head the scale 1 hour before their first scheduled fight.
- Strict Timing Rule: Competitors cannot weigh in earlier than the 1 hour mark prior to their scheduled fight time. (Please track your live-updating fight time closely on your smartphone via the Smoothcomp schedule to time your arrival at the scales perfectly).
π₯ 2. Uniform & Weight Requirements
- Weight Classes: All divisions are strictly based on standard IBJJF Youth Weight Categories.
- Gi Specifications: All uniforms worn for Gi divisions must be proper Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) Gis. Traditional Judo, Karate, Taekwondo, or Sambo uniforms are not permitted.
- π Gi Color Policy: The color of the Gi does not matter. Competitors can wear any color they prefer (including white, blue, black, pink, or camo), provided the Gi is clean, in good repair, and correctly sized for the athlete.
- Gi Divisions: Athletes must weigh in wearing the exact Gi they will compete in.
- No-Gi Divisions: Athletes must weigh in wearing their official No-Gi uniform (shorts/spats and rashguard).
- Are Gi/No-Gi weights included? Yes! Following IBJJF standards, the weight limits listed in our divisions page include the weight of the uniform. Please factor this in when registering your child.
- π Dual-Division Competitors: Athletes registered to compete in both Gi and No-Gi formats must weigh in twiceβonce wearing their full Gi uniform before their Gi matches, and once wearing their No-Gi uniform before their No-Gi matches.
π 3. What Happens If an Athlete Misses Weight?
Our priority is ensuring every child gets the opportunity to compete and gain valuable mat experience:
- Test Scale Available: A dedicated unofficial "Test Scale" will be available next to the official scales for athletes to check their weight before making an official attempt.
- Missed Weight Policy: If an athlete officially steps on the scale and is over the weight limit, they will not be disqualified. Instead, they will be moved up to the next available weight category.
- Correction Deadline: To help us keep the brackets perfectly organized, please check your child's weight at your academy before the tournament. You can change your registration weight class online for free via your Smoothcomp profile at any time until October 5th at 23:59.
πββοΈ 4. The Post Weigh-In Flow
Once the athlete successfully passes the scale, the tournament zone flow begins:
- Warm-Up Zone: The athlete will immediately be directed into the barricaded Athlete Warm-Up Area.
- Coach Access: π Official academy coaches are fully permitted inside the Warm-Up Area to help prepare, warm up, and assist their kids before their matches. (Parents must remain in the general spectator seating area).
- Escort to Mat: When their bracket is called up on the screen, our event staff will group the kids and safely escort them directly to their assigned Competition Mat.
- Mat-Side Coaching: One coach per academy is permitted to sit in the designated mat-side coach's chair during the live match.
π‘οΈ 85% REFUND GUARANTEE
