BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU GI and NO-GI competition open to all athletes (no membership requirement), Italian and foreign (including non-residents in Italy), over 4 years of age.

CASH PRIZES FOR TEAMS

In both the Gi and No-Gi competitions, the top 3 Teams will receive the following cash prizes: 

Prize Pool: Minimum €1,200 – Maximum €3,200.

· with at least 400 registrations → Prize Pool of €1,200:

* €300 to the 1st-place Team in Gi;

* €300 to the 1st-place Team in No-Gi;

* €200 to the 2nd-place Team in Gi;

* €200 to the 2nd-place Team in No-Gi;

* €100 to the 3rd-place Team in Gi;

* €100 to the 3rd-place Team in No-Gi.

· with at least 600 registrations → Prize Pool of €2,400:

* €600 to the 1st-place Team in Gi;

* €600 to the 1st-place Team in No-Gi;

* €200 to the 3rd-place Team in Gi;

* The total number of competition registrations is considered (Gi competition + No-Gi competition).

NATIONAL TEAM GI (10 ATHLETES)

The Gi competitions in the Adult age division will serve as a selection event for the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Gi National Team, which will participate, with expenses covered by BJJ ITALIA, in the 2026 IBJJF European Championships.

NATIONAL TEAM NO-GI (8 ATHLETES)

The No-Gi competitions in the Adult age division will serve as a selection event for the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi National Team, which will participate, with expenses covered by BJJ ITALIA, in the 2026 IBJJF European Championships.

NATIONAL TEAM KIDS GI AND NO-GI (8 ATHLETES)

The competitions in the Kid 4 (10-11 years), Kid 5 (12-13 years) and Kid 6 (14-15 years) age divisions will serve as a selection event for the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Kids National Team, which will participate, with expenses covered by BJJ ITALIA, in the 2026 IBJJF Kids European Championships.

POINTS

The Academy/Team Rankings (one for the Gi tournament and one for the No-Gi tournament) and the Rankings for the selection of the National Teams (Gi and No-Gi) are determined based on the following points earned by athletes for participation and results in the various tournaments (Gi and No-Gi weight divisions, Gi and No-Gi Openweight):

· for Black Belts and Colored Belts in Kid 4, 5 and 6:

25 points for the 1st-place athlete, 10 points for the 2nd-place athlete, 5 points for the 3rd-place athletes (+ 3 points for each match fought and won and + 1 point for each submission);

· for all other Belts:

5 points for the 1st-place athlete, 2 points for the 2nd-place athlete, 1 point for the 3rd-place athletes (+ 1 point for each match fought and won and + 1 point for each submission);

· 1 point to each athlete for participation in each tournament (if an athlete is the only registered competitor in a weight division, no points are awarded).

COMPETITION REGISTRATION

BJJ ITALIA is the only Italian Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu organization that, in order to give all athletes the opportunity to participate in national and international competitions, charges a registration fee of only €28 for national competitions and covers the expenses of the Italian Gi and No-Gi National Team athletes who participate in the IBJJF European Championships.

All athletes may register for both the Gi and No-Gi tournaments and for both their weight division and the Openweight division (where applicable), and all athletes who register for the Openweight division will be allowed to compete in the Openweight tournament regardless of the result achieved in their weight division.

Registrations on Smoothcomp by Sunday, NOVEMBER 15 (for weight divisions) and by Wednesday, NOVEMBER 18 (for Openweight divisions). Competition registration will close early if the maximum number of participants is reached.

Registration fees to be paid on Smoothcomp:

· by SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27 (reduced fees):

* €28 for the Gi or No-Gi weight division (€20 for age divisions from 4 to 15 years; €5 for Adult and Master Black Belts*);

* €18 for each Openweight division (€5 for Adult and Master Black Belts*);

* €10 discount for athletes registering for both the Gi and No-Gi tournaments (excluding Black Belts);

· by Sunday, NOVEMBER 15 (standard fees):

* €38 for the Gi or No-Gi weight division (€30 for age divisions from 4 to 15 years; €10 for Adult and Master Black Belts*);

* €18 for each Openweight division (€5 for Adult and Master Black Belts*);

* €10 discount for athletes registering for both the Gi and No-Gi tournaments (excluding Black Belts);

· by Wednesday, NOVEMBER 18: €18 for each Openweight division (only for athletes who have already registered in a weight division by Sunday, NOVEMBER 15).

At the weigh-in at the competition venue, athletes who do not meet the weight limit of the division in which they registered will be disqualified from the weight division tournament but may still participate in the Openweight division, if applicable and if they registered by Wednesday, NOVEMBER 18.

The Openweight tournament (with no weight limit) is available only for the Kid 4/5/6 Colored Belt, Juvenile, Adult and Master age divisions (in the Male Adult age division, there are two Openweight tournaments for each Belt).

All athletes must register their Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Belt on Smoothcomp.

Please note that athletes who have competed in MMA bouts under Pro rules, or who have competed in national Absolute Championships in MMA, Olympic Wrestling or Sambo, or who hold a Judo Black Belt or a Grappling or MMA Belt equal to or higher than Blue Belt, are not allowed to register for White Belt tournaments.

REGISTRATION CHANGES

By TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 17 (11:59 PM), athletes may independently move to another division on Smoothcomp.

· to another weight division;

· Masters: to a lower Master age division or to the Adult age division.

On WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 18, athletes who:

· are alone in their division;

· are in a division in which all athletes belong to the same Team;

· are Kid 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 (6-15 years) and wish to move from White Belt to Colored Belt;

· are Kid 1, 2, 3 or 4 (4-11 years) and wish to move from female to male or vice versa;

· are Kid 5 or Kid 6 (12-15 years), female, alone in their division and wish to move to the male division;

· are minors and wish to move to the next higher age division (moves to the Adult age division are allowed only if the athlete is alone in their division);

may request to be moved by sending an email to trofeonorditaliaopen@gmail.com (emails sent before WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 18 will not be considered).

Athletes who have requested a change and their coaches must verify that the changes have been correctly made on Smoothcomp.

Athletes who are alone in their division may decide not to move and may attend the competition venue to receive the gold medal, after successfully completing the weigh-in, and to participate in the Openweight division if applicable and if they have registered.

PUBLICATION OF BRACKETS

Athlete brackets, including the estimated times of their first matches, will be published on Smoothcomp on Friday, MAY 8 and cannot be changed at the competition venue.

AGE DIVISIONS

For Kids age divisions: only the year of birth is considered.

For Juvenile, Adult and Master age divisions: the year of birth or date of birth is considered (for example: an athlete who is 17 years old on the day of the competition but will turn 18 during the year in which the competition takes place may register for either the Juvenile or Adult tournament).

WEIGH-IN

The weigh-in opens at 8:00 AM and closes at 4:00 PM. During this time, athletes may weigh in whenever they wish, but they must complete the weigh-in at least one hour before the scheduled start time of their first match shown on Smoothcomp (please note that the times shown on Smoothcomp are estimated and often change during the competition because they are updated in real time based on the duration of previous matches).

At the weigh-in, athletes are only required to show an identity document.

In the No-Gi competition, athletes must weigh in wearing competition shorts and a rashguard, which may be of any color.

In the Gi competition, athletes must weigh in wearing the Gi/kimono in which they will compete, which may only be entirely white, entirely royal blue or entirely black (athletes under 16 years of age may also weigh in without the Gi/kimono).

Athletes registered for both the No-Gi and Gi competitions may, at the No-Gi weigh-in, request that the same weigh-in also be considered valid for the Gi competition (in the corresponding weight division which, taking into account the weight of the kimono, is approximately 2-3 kg higher).

At the weigh-in, athletes who do not meet the weight limit of the division in which they registered will be disqualified from the weight division tournament but may still participate in the Openweight division if they registered online and confirm their participation.

Athletes registered in Kid 1 (4-5 years of age) do not undergo a weigh-in but must still report to the weigh-in desk, accompanied by an adult, to confirm their participation in the competition.

Athletes registered in divisions with no weight limit must still report to the weigh-in desk to confirm their participation in the competition.

At the weigh-in, all athletes registered for the Openweight division must confirm their participation, otherwise they will be removed.

Athletes who, after successfully completing the weigh-in, are alone in their weight division must immediately go to the podium area and ask the person in charge to award them their medal.

After each weigh-in closes, athletes who have not reported for the weigh-in will be removed from both their weight division and any Openweight division.

After successfully completing the weigh-in, athletes must check that a green dot appears next to their name on Smoothcomp (if a red dot appears, they must immediately return to the weigh-in desk and ask for verification because athletes with a red dot cannot participate in the competition).

COMPETITION PROCEDURE

Competition starts at 9:00 AM.

For all athletes, the No-Gi competition will take place first, followed by the Gi competition.

All athletes and their coaches are strongly encouraged to bring fully functioning smartphones and/or tablets with fully charged batteries to the competition venue, as they will need to access Smoothcomp independently to check the start times of their matches and the mat where they must report to compete.

For this reason, after the weigh-in, athletes must constantly check on Smoothcomp the estimated start times of their matches, which often change because they are updated in real time during the competition based on the duration of previous matches, as well as the mat where they must compete (IMPORTANT: athletes are NOT called to the mat over the loudspeaker).

Ten minutes before the start time of their match shown on Smoothcomp, athletes must enter the competition area and report to the exact Mat indicated on Smoothcomp where they are scheduled to compete, positioning themselves on the correct side of the Table Official and waiting silently (in the competition area, it is strictly forbidden to cheer for or coach other athletes while they are competing).

The athlete positioned above in the bracket (green/yellow color) must stand on the left-arm side of the Table Official and, in the Gi competition, wear the green/yellow belt, while in the No-Gi competition they must wear the green/yellow ankle band on their right ankle. The athlete positioned below in the bracket must stand on the right-arm side of the Table Official.

At the end of the match immediately preceding their own, athletes must report to the Table Official, state their surname and first name, and ask for authorization to step onto the mat to compete.

An athlete who, at the end of the match immediately preceding their own, does not report to the Table Official or has not yet completed the weigh-in will be disqualified.

If an athlete is scheduled to compete on different mats at the same time, they must ask the Table Official at the mat of their next match to postpone that match.

If an athlete is scheduled to compete in another match within 5 minutes of the end of their previous match, they may ask the Table Official for a 5-minute recovery period.

After the match, the athlete wearing the green/yellow belt or ankle band must leave it on the Table Official’s desk.

After completing their match, athletes must immediately leave the competition area.

Athletes who withdraw from the competition for any reason must inform the Table Official at their mat.

After the end of their weight division tournament, athletes participating in the Openweight division must check Smoothcomp for the estimated start time of each Openweight match and the Mat where it will take place.

The consumption of food and beverages inside the competition area is strictly prohibited.

Stepping onto the tatami while wearing shoes is strictly prohibited.

AWARDS

At the end of the final of each weight division, the top 4 athletes (first, second and two third-place finishers) must immediately go to the podium area and ask the person in charge of the podium area to award them their medals (athletes are not called to the podium). Only athletes who are to receive a medal are allowed to enter the podium area.

In the first match, whenever possible, athletes from the same Academy/Team will not be matched against each other.

Athletes must wear:

ASC AFFILIATION

Participation in the competition is open to all Sports Promotion Bodies and affiliated Federations.

All athletes and accompanying persons must report to the competition venue with an identity document and insurance membership card.

Insurance coverage is provided by the respective Bodies/Federations to which they belong.

All sports clubs practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Italy have the opportunity to affiliate with ASC.

REFUND POLICY

The following is our refund policy.

Only athletes who meet one of the following conditions:

* on the Thursday before the competition, they are alone in their weight division (if registered for the Openweight division, they are also alone in their Belt division) and do not wish to attend the competition venue to receive the gold medal;

* they have been hospitalized and have not yet regained medical clearance to participate in the competition and submit a Hospital Medical Certificate;

may, on the Thursday before the competition, request withdrawal from the competition by sending an email to trofeonorditaliaopen@gmail.com and receive a voucher equal to the amount paid for competition registration, minus €2 in administrative fees, valid for one year and usable for registration for a future BJJ ITALIA competition organized by the same organizer.
