I had the chance to try out a trial class at Ascend Athletics and it was a great experience! Coach Chris was incredibly patient, kind and welcoming. He took the time to explain the techniques clearly and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the session. The atmosphere in the gym was also very supportive and encouraging, which made it less intimidating to step onto the mats as a female white belt. Highly recommend Ascend Athletics to anyone curious about starting BJJ!

I had the pleasure of learning BJJ as a complete beginner at Ascend Athletics. Coach Chris is an outstanding mentor — he is professional, patient, passionate and very attentive towards every students safety. Coach Chris makes sure that every lesson is judgement free. Regardless of your skill level, he makes sure that everyone feels welcome and appreciated. This reflects on the positive gym culture, as each teammate is lively, and genuinely helpful. As someone who is non competitive towards the sport, I never once felt forced to push myself more than I was comfortable with. I also appreciated the emphasis on cleanliness. Which was reflected on the well maintained facility and equipment. I could not recommend Ascend Athletics more if you are looking to train hard in an inclusive environment and have lots of fun!

We feel incredibly fortunate to have found Coach Chris for our 8-year-old son, who has always been struggling with confidence. From the very first class, Coach Chris has showed a rare combination of patience, empathy, and skill that instantly made our son feel safe and supported. Coach Chris understands how to connect with children who need a little extra encouragement, and he creates a calm, structured environment that allows our son to thrive. He celebrates small wins, gives clear instructions, and always takes the time to make sure our child feels included and capable, yet maintaining a balance of discipline. Over the past two weeks, we’ve seen a huge transformation—He now walks into class with a smile and leaves feeling proud of himself. Coach Chris makes sure the other kids are supportive too, which has made a huge difference in helping our son feel like he truly belongs. We can’t thank Coach Chris enough for the positive impact he’s had. His approach goes beyond just teaching martial arts—it’s about building confidence, respect, and resilience. Highly recommend to any parent looking for a coach who truly gets kids.

Coach Chris is an outstanding instructor — professional, attentive, and genuinely committed to students' safety. His clear and patient instruction makes learning techniques easy to follow. Whether you're a newbie or a seasoned practitioner, Coach Chris always makes sure everyone feels confident, comfortable, and ready to learn. He takes special care to accommodate any previous injuries, always keeping an eye out for everyone's safety, especially for smaller folks like myself. The class structure is well-structured and thoughtfully designed. Each session kicks off with dynamic warm-ups to get the blood flowing, followed by focused drills that reinforce key techniques and build muscle memory. We then transition into sparring sessions, are where we get to apply what we've learned in a controlled and supportive environment. Also, the facility is cozy, spotless, and well-maintained, creating an inviting atmosphere that's perfect for training! Not only that, t gym fosters a fantastic team culture; everyone is friendly, lively, and genuinely helpful! You’ll find yourself surrounded by lively and supportive teammates who are always looking out for one another. If you’re looking for a place to train hard, make great friends, and have a ton of fun, this is it!! Couldn’t recommend it more!

I have been training with Ascend Athletics for 1.5 years and it has been the most amazing experience. Head coach Chris is friendly and engaging. His instructions are detailed and clear. There is a strong emphasis on safety and respect. The classes are conducted in a engaging way. Coach Chris ensures that everyone in class is able to understand the concept taught. The gym is just a 5 minutes walk from Little India station. The gym uses top notch BJJ mats which allows me to train with a peace of mind. The gym takes alot of care to ensure the mats are clean before and after the class. I enjoy my training in the gym and the people in the gym are friendly. Being in other martial art sports and gyms, the people made me feel welcome into the space almost immediately. People are supportive, culture is great! I participated in a competition recently, everyone contributed and helped out with my competition training. Coach Chris’ and the team’s dedication motivated me through the trainings. Best team, best coach and best gym in Singapore!
