This was the first gym/club I ever joined, and it’s been one of the best decisions: as a beginner that had never done a kickboxing class, I felt wholly welcomed and supported in this space from day one. The coaches (shoutout to Nia and Jim!) are so patient and supportive, and they truly create a sense of community among everyone. My partners—many of whom have been practicing for a while—are always excited to help me. I sincerely appreciate how kind everyone is in this space. They’re always down for a conversation about everything and nothing, and they emphasize going at our own pace while also pushing us to challenge ourselves. I’m so much more confident thanks to this space, and I look forward to every class. You’re the best, AMA!

If you want a home away from home look no further. First gym I ever felt at home and comfortable in. Training and coaching here is always the happiest part of my day. The knowledge from coach Jim and all the other coaches is unmatched. I have never felt like I was being left behind or alone. Very family friendly and chill environment. With the friendliest people.

Our boys started about three months ago and absolutely love it! All the coaches have been amazing! They take their time to ensure all students are using the correct techniques as well as ensuring safety. I also think it’s important to state that Coach Jim and Coach Melisa go out of their way to make sure everyone feels at home, and comfortable in their facility. We suggest Alers Martial Arts to anyone looking to get started or find a new location. ❤️

I was able to attend this school and train jiujitsu for a short time, about 6 months, but in that time I noticed my skills multiply threefold. The instructors here are amazing and were able to really push me, but they were also filled with compassion and were super understanding. The thing that appealed to me the most about this gym was the intimate, family-like environment they had and how absolutely welcoming everyone was. I highly recommend it if you're thinking about going!

By far the best martial arts experience I had in a long time. I wanted to get back to kickboxing and learn jujitsu and Jim and his team were incredible. Great teachers with real experience. A bunch of professional fighters train there and they all very humble and make you feel welcomed. Very affordable and fair price, highly recommended 💪

Wonderful gym for both kids and adults. Aside from the amazing coaches and training, the gym as a whole is very family-oriented. They are upfront about costs on the site, (unlike all other gyms in the area), No contract to keep you locked in, and they offer a trial so you can decide which classes and schedule would work best for your family. Coach Joe does amazing teaching the teen self defense class and coaches Jim, Melissa, and all of their assistant coaches are all great with kids of all ages!

They go above and beyond to ensure that you have everything you need for your classes. Their love and patience with the kids is truly heartwarming. Not only do they teach the proper techniques and drills, but they also prioritize the safety and growth of the children. Excellent gym! I’ve trained in many gyms as a female martial artist. This gym is respectful, energetic and welcoming. Whatever your goals are this place has it. If you want to be a high-level competitor, you can find challenging matches and excellent coaching. I am a 40yo female fighter & mom wanting a safe and family friendly training atmosphere - Alers has been perfect for us too! Jim is a former UFC fighter and his wife Melissa is a competitor too. Excellent women training and coaching. Check it out. You won’t regret it.

Started training here around 6 months ago, only did jiu jitsu but then i found out about the kickboxing class, jim the hesd coach and coach spence give you a aweseome experience pushing you to be better, if you have any questions they’ll be more than happy to help and help you improve your technique. Nonetheless, its like a family here you have any sort of issue or anything going on in your life. Anyone there is open to help you out. Best gym i’ve trained in ever.💪

My kids love coming to Alers Martial Arts! I have my 5 year old girl in Jujutsu and my 11 year old in kickboxing and they always look forward to train days. All the coaches are phenomenal teachers, they are all very passionate about the sport and they truly get these kids involved in the workout! Regardless of your experience in martial arts, from the first day you walk in, you will be treated like family. Everyone is here to support, encourage and help each other grow to their full potential. The owner/instructor (who is a professional fighter and a black belt in BJJ) and his team of incredible coaches, are extremely knowledgeable in MMA, Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing & Strength/Conditioning. All ages are welcomed, all backgrounds are celebrated and all levels are treated equally. BEST GYM IN THE WORLD! I joined July 2021 and I see myself here until I’m 100 years old. OSS 🤙🏼

I joined the AMA family (My son in August and myself in November) and we have not looked back since! Coach Jim Alers is a terrific teacher - Very patient, highly energetic and truly knows how to push you to do your best. Coach Joe is another real inspiration - he makes you focus on tightening your technique and the little tips and tricks beginners need. There is great bonding within this gym. All the senior students take their time to point out your mistakes and help improve. Aches and pains aside - you will leave each class with a big smile a d a tremendous sense of satisfaction. My only regret - I did not know of this place in 2020. Be warned... The atmosphere can be highly addictive - you are highly to think of the class and movements while at work ☺️ Apart from kickboxing and jiujitsu there are MMA classes every Friday that combine all aspects of fighting. Adults..if you feel stressed or are in a sedentary profession please join a class here... You will truly feel the difference. Kids classes are wonderful as well. AMA also do kids parties and programs and they are a great hit all around. Again... Please try out a class and you will truly love it.

Alers is hands down the only legitimate mixed martial arts gym in all of west pines, I’ve trained in other gyms and none compare...the environment is amazing, everyone is a big family and want to help each other succeed. Specially since it’s Jim’s place and he teaches most of the classes he’s passionate about it, unlike other places that just want the big bucks, they hire just about anyone and get new coaches every so often. This place is EVERYTHING!!! Coach Jim and Melisa are wonderful people who make you feel like you are apart of the AMA family. My husband, our daughter, and I have been training at AMA for almost a year, and this place has become a second home for us. Coach Jim is one of the best coaches I have had by far. He is positive, very supportive, and extremely knowledgeable. Another person who should be mentioned is Coach Chris. He is wonderful with the kids, and an excellent instructor with the adults. His Saturday classes are amazing! I have referred AMA to friends, and they have all signed up as a result of the welcoming environment, the people, and the amazing coaches.

This gym has a lot to offer especially since the instructor is Jim alers himself. He really knows how to train all levels people doesnt matter if you're new he has a lot of patience. There is really not many gyms where the instructor has the level of professional experience he has and is teaching the class.

Alers Gym is great. Incredibly welcoming and supportive for all skill sets. I’ve only been going for a few weeks now, but I can tell this place will really help you stay or get back into shape. No pressure, good vibes and great coaching. Oh also great place for couples or families. A few peers bring their kids where they have games off to the side. As well as for the female enthusiasts, there’s as many women as there are men here. Nice to see everyone getting involved in the sport and pushing each other to new levels.

Alers Martial Arts is the best place to learn Jiu jitsu and Martial Arts in South Florida! Jim Alers is an extremely experienced and technical instructor. The classes are challenging, yet fun! I guess all I can say is this is an amazing place. From the facilities to the location. But what really stands out is the instructors. Jim Alers is so patient with the kids and finds fun ways to teach them and keep them motivated. But his talents are not limited to kids, his adult classes are so good, filled with knowledge and technique. All you need is one class to feel like you belong.

Nice owner, good teachers, but we did have a horrible experience over there that made me decide to withdraw both of my kids. Two parents harass my wife so much in the class that even when she was leaving the class she had to look both ways out of fear that something might happen outside. harassment was so much wife had to call for help from the owner who was witnessing the harassment. he did finally respond but it would have been nice for somebody to step in faster to resolve the conflict. that's a big negative. that type of behavior should not be able allowed and the harassers did not even get suspended. I cannot see myself at any gym that allows a man to be disrespectful towards my wife and Trash Talk both of my children.
