Aikido of Escondido is a traditional Aikido dojo that teaches Aiki development and Self Defense. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
It is my utmost pleasure to train with Kelleher Sensei. Kelleher Sensei is unique in his teachings of Aikido. He is absolutely the technician. I’ve observed him for several years now.
I now have the opportunity to train with him on a regular basis.
His classes are all ranks from kyu ranks to yudansha ranks.
As a lifetime martial artist myself; it is extremely paramount to me to train continually.
The learning never stops. I’m constantly thinking outside the box.
Learning from everyone.
As there are many individual’s crossed trained like myself in several arts.
If you’re looking to train as a beginner, intermediate, or advanced student; Kelleher Sensei provides
a safe and fun environment to start your journey in Aikido, or advance your technical, tactical, etc…training across the board.
Kelleher Sensei is very likable and approachable to answer your questions.
Kelleher Sensei brings out the very best in his students, thus that philosophy is passed on from student to student.
It’s great to see so many familiar faces, new ones as well.

As a shorter-than-average female, I cannot stress enough how powerful Aikido is for self-defense. This martial art is not competitive nor does it focus on entirely overpowering others. If you're looking to gain a sense confidence and strength that translates into your everyday life, then Aikido of Escondido will welcome you.
I had trained in a very traditional Aikido dojo for most of my teenage years, but I ultimately succumbed to an injury, months before my 1st black belt test. I thought I wouldn't be able to practice Aikido again. 10+ years go by, and I worked up the courage to observe a class at Aikido of Escondido.
Kelleher-Sensei has a very calm yet commanding presence, and I was immediately hooked. I've looked forward to every class since. He breaks down body mechanics and basic movements and forms them into familiar techniques, which makes me feel both confident about what I'm doing and energized from learning something new. I'm extremely glad I found this dojo and I look forward to attending for many years to come.
Amazing dojo! Great instructor Sensei Kevin! Mon and Wed eves, Sat mornings. I am a better person because of the exercise, the preparedness and the friendships I have made with Aikido. Come join us! Robert
It is my privilege to be a part of this dojo. The benefits of my practice are manifold: from post-injury rehabilitation to overall health improvement, and finding new friends, of course! Truly, the quality of people I met here has enriched my life.
This was a great experience. Classes are great, instructors are patient and fellow students learn to help each other. Classes have a fun, trusting, and understanding ambience to them. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there but unfortunately moved out of the area. Sensei Kevin is wonderful and each instructor has something to share.
My history of Aikido of Esc began around 2003. With Aikido and now Kettlebell Classes I can honestly say that in my experience you will not find a Dojo with such a professional, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. A truly unique style of Martial Arts training. Instructor Kevin Kelleher and students motivate you to achieve your own personal best. You will learn, improve yourself physically and have an overwhelming sense of accomplishment with every class.
When I started going to the dojo, I didn't know what to expect, I didn't even know that I was out of shape. Well after about a month or so, I had more stamina and energy, not to mention I was learning what I consider the best self defense discipline to be found. It was easy to make fast friends and Sensei Kevin was able to teach as well as build my confidence in Aikido. I moved to Texas, but if I were still in Escondido I would be going there 3 times a week as usual. Thanks Kevin for your friendship and teaching.
My dad has done aikido for a long time, and has mixed it with a lot of different martial arts experiences he’s had, Aikido seemed the most interesting to me. I ended up here because of a school project and thoroughly enjoyed my time at this dojo, it definitely helps to keep you in shape. I definitely felt like the amount of information to absorb was enormous, but I think that comes with the territory of what you learn.
Unfortunately, after starting college I was unable to continue attending classes because of the days of the week classes are held, along with my hectic schedule with working at a hospital. Being busy Monday and Wednesday, I simply can’t justify the cost for a month and only being able to attend 1 class a week, but that’s mostly just a matter of schedules not aligning.
Sensei Keheller was very open to the idea of me doing my project on Aikido, which I am very grateful for. I had great experiences there, hopefully will be able to find a time in which I can return if there’s still room for me in the classes.
